We had heard about the great food at the Carter bar. They have a steak night about once a month so we decided to splurge. The bar is on the highway between Great Falls and Fort Benton, Montana, outside the small town of Carter. The ambiance is pretty typical bar, but that is where typical ends and WOW begins. We were served a huge rib eye steak with big button mushrooms and onions all slathered in a butter sauce. They say it is only salt, pepper and butter that seasons this meal but it has unbelievable mouth popping flavor. The meal was complimented with a dinner salad, a large baked potato, and they even included a cupcake for dessert. We each ate half, and had the rest boxed up to take home. The service was impeccable, the owners were friendly and the chef was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good hearty beef steak! I saw a sign that said the next steak night will be March 7th so it might be time for you to have a night out. I would call for reservations as this is a place that serves fresh and would like to know ahead of time how many they will need to serve. They also have a good menu of fast food available for patrons' enjoyment any time. (406) 734-5356. read more
