I remind them they have choices and can go to any school yet they insist on staying at museum until they graduate. We have seen many staff changes over the years but the core values seem to carry on. Its a small tight-knit school with around 25 kids per grade. Miss Jaleh TK and Miss Diana K are the perfect teachers to kickoff your kids learning journey. The drive thru lane for drop offs and picks ups is top.

During my search, I stumbled across the Museum School, and it looked a little too good to be true. I also noted that they historically had a waitlist, so I was pretty sure it was going to be a no-go. I called anyway, and as it turns out, they had an opening in my child's grade level. I made an appointment for a tour. Every staff member I met, from the director to the office admin to each instructor, was friendly and welcoming. The kids looked and sounded happy. It was reassuring that my bright, school-loving child would be having fun, engaging in activities like fitness and art and music, but also be appropriately challenged with a good curriculum. This is not a self-led program, it isn't play-only--it's actual instruction with plenty of room to enjoy learning and discovery. To me, having come from a family of educators at the grade and high school levels, this marries the best of both worlds. It is both academic and hands-on, and my young child even has homework, but it isn't excessive. The kids actually get outside in the fresh air to play, and I have been welcoming the dirt on my little one's socks as a sign of a day well spent. I took time to actually read through the parent handbook, which I have done for each school we've been part of. Nowhere have I seen as thorough a section on what constitutes appropriate behavior between staff and students, and how both should feel empowered to address situations that feel inappropriate--I was absolutely floored, and my inner teen had a moment of healing and validation reading through the text. It brought an additional sense of peace around the decision we made to enroll here. This is a diverse staff and campus, with a diverse representation of humans who trust them with their children. I look forward to seeing how this school will positively impact mine.

In our 2 years there, we watched our son grow immensely in his confidence, relationships, and overall love of learning. He was sad to leave school every day and excited to wake up and start the day with his amazing friends and teachers. The approach and philosophy that Fleur de Lis takes truly allows each child to blossom in their own unique and beautiful way and we not only got to experience this with our son, but saw it with his classmates as well. We saw our son make presentations to his class about a science or art project he did with us at home or proudly present his show and tell Spider-man toy to his classmates - we are so grateful to the entire Fleur de Lis community for encouraging this level of self-esteem and individuality.  The staff at Fleur de Lis is truly one of a kind -  the professional, yet individualized attention of Tina Smith and April Kozelh as directors is amazing. They know your child personally and do everything in their power to make your child's experience at Fleur de Lis enriching and creative. Our son still talks about Ms. Tina coming into their classroom and reading them special books (his favorite was about an owl in NYC) and Tina consistently shared specific memories of our son's social and emotional growth during his time there. The teachers we had at Fleur de Lis (Ms. Sandy, Ms. Chelsea, Ms. Amber, Ms. Kiara and Ms. Diana for Spanish) were incredible in every way - we appreciated the attention to the holistic needs of each child - the cognitive, physical, and emotional were all given attention and we saw our son blossom in each area. The day our son "graduated" Fleur de Lis School was a bittersweet one - we were thrilled to know he was ready for kindergarten, but also so sad to say goodbye to the daily moments of this special community. Our son couldn't stop hugging his amazing teacher Ms. Sandy at the singing show - clearly showing the same emotions we felt as parents.

I remember my son, Julian, sobbing when I left him on his first day as a two year old, and my heart was breaking. In less than a week, he was all smiles at drop off, excited to see his teachers and friends. Since then, he's thrived at this school, both emotionally and educationally. Now, two years later, he's heading to Francis Parker, and looking back on his time at FDL, I can't express how grateful I am to the amazing team there. There are a few specifics that make FDL special: The community -- everyone at FDL knows Julian's name, even teachers who aren't assigned to his class. Pre-Covid, when I would pick him up from his classroom, his daily departure was like a little parade, with waves and goodbyes to friends, teachers, directors, everyone. You really feel like part of a family here. Kira, Bev, April, Julie, Julia, Diana, Iris, Nina, Autumn, and many others...each has been a unique and positive impact on Julian and our family over the past two years. The safety -- speaking of Covid, I don't think I appreciated how nice it is to have total confidence in the efforts of the FDL team to keep my child safe at all costs until this pandemic. When they reopened under new safety guidelines, I never once worried they would slack or not keep the sanitation and safety bar high. In fact, Julian now inspects my hand washing and admonishes me if I have not made enough soap bubbles or washed long enough . They always ran a tight ship, but it's exceptional now. The positive reinforcement of high expectations -- on my visit prior to enrolling at FDL, I saw all the kids eating lunch as they chattered politely and consistently used manners. On the playground, no one pushed. They all took turns. What's more, they were still incredibly joyous little kids, giggling and delighting in silly play. I was in awe. And yet, now Julian models those same behaviors. FDL teachers are kind and warm, but firm. They set a high bar, and the kids rise to meet it. At the same time, there is tremendous fun had on the daily at this school. Julian greets me at pick up with a big smile and a hug, his cheeks flushed from play and sand in his shoes. He excitedly shows me his projects and tells me funny stories and things he learned from the day. FDL is exceptional. If you have the chance to send your child there, take it. You would be hard pressed to find a more loving and capable setting. We will miss it terribly!

I knew that I wanted the same school community I experienced for my child. We visited St. Vincent de Paul Preschool & immediately felt at ease. We were greeted with warm smiles & the classroom was neat, clean & tidy. St. Vincent de Paul Preschool was a wonderful experience. My son is now in elementary here & I am proud to say the same of the K-8 facilities & community. I cannot fully express how much this school means to me, to us... to our family. My son is thriving, accepted, loved & supported every day. We have made friendships that have evolved to family. Every morning when we assemble together as a school to begin the day & pray, it fills me with pride to look around & feel so united. I had always imagined we would enroll him in my alma mater, but after taking a tour at St. Vincent the warm and welcoming community won both me and my wife over. Choosing St Vincent has been one of the best choices that we have made as a family. Attending the morning assembly has become part of our family's daily routine and we have become immersed in an amazing community. Our son loves going to school each morning and has gained confidence through participation in the afterschool sports program. As early as Kindergarten, our son recognizes that he is part of this community and is reminded by his principal, parents, his teammates, and friends from every grade who welcome him each day.

Pre K review: Program is held in the basement (no windows),…read morethey go on roof or court yard for outside time. Our son (5y) learned curse words, games involving shooting guns, and phrases you would only hear in p*rn. They need staff who are willing to pay attention to the children, teach and actually interact, not stare at their phones. As expected, the problem trickles from PreK director, Ms. Phipps. When several negative events at recess had been reported by parents where children were not being watched, or worse, grabbed and forced by teachers, she responded with, "I've been doing this for years and that's never happened here." Ms. Turner did later write us an apology for her physical assault on our five year old. The response we received from Ms. Phipps was dismissive rather than investigative, which raised concerns about accountability and adherence to established safety policies. Particularly in class with the bathroom protocol; sending the children in groups to pull their pants down -- which was not shared with us until our son came home and told us he saw someone undressed. We wrote directly to staff that evening and asked they ensure our son went to the bathroom privately moving forward. They begrudgingly agreed saying they were being forced to take "extra measures." We later find out, they did not follow through with that promise. City Tree Christian Private does not promote privacy, nor does it align with Christ. The incessant demand for money paled in comparison to our general concern for our son's upbringing. They are at best a downtown staircase for the homeless to lay on. I empathize for the teachers who do work and try so hard, but are met with a team of bare minimum professionals. If we could go back in time we would have preserved our child's innocence a little longer and never enrolled our son at City Tree. Needless to say, we will receive our refund and we are not bringing him back. Thankfully, we've already been able to save two other children (at our younger son's school), and hopefully you, from enrolling and making our same mistake. Positives of City Tree; Mrs. Delgado, Mrs. Art, Mrs. Tompkins, Mrs. Buckley, & the croissants at the cafe around the corner. Fun fact: after sharing in person with Ms. Phipps our plans to remove our son, she followed up via email telling us we should do just that. To top it off; after being at school all day with his class, Ms. Phipps refused to let our son perform in the Christmas pageant. His grandparents had flown in, our son is five and had been practicing his song at home (which was the only reason we let him go to school one more day). What happened to the importance of finishing something you started? I am beyond disturbed by the absolute lack of priorities. They have lost their moral compass, but prayerfully they find someone new who, instead of petty, is capable of seeking truth.

Some teachers truly stand out as rockstars -- Mrs. Buckley in particular has been exceptional -- while the rest of the community is wonderful and supportive too. Last year, my daughter learned how to pack up her belongings on her own, which might sound small but was actually a meaningful life skill that built independence and confidence. This year, the focus has naturally shifted more toward numbers, letters, and learning how to play and interact with other kids in a thoughtful way. Overall, she enjoys being there, feels comfortable, and continues to grow socially and academically. We're grateful for the foundation City Tree is helping to build.
