Have you heard of a Yelprechaun? Let me just tell you - after a 15 minute shopping spree in Carroll's, I knew everyone in London would soon be able to confidently answer "YES" to this question.
Calling this an Irish gift shop doesn't do it justice. Oh no. This is the mecca, the end-all-be-all, the pot of gold if you will, for everything you hoped existed in Ireland after watching your first Lucky Charms commercial. From tacky hats with beards to keychains, shot glasses, t-shirts, boas, headbands, underwear, even condoms, they've Irished up any and every imaginable schwag item and put it on sale in this store. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a rogue leprechaun or seven stashed in some dark back room. I bet you could buy Bono if you really wanted to.
It's a stereotyper's dream come true. Plus it's pretty dang cheap, which just goes with the territory. Awww go on then, everyone has a bit of Irish in 'em, don't they? If not, they probably want some! Either way, a stop by Carroll's will instantly curb any craving.
p.s. A Yelprechaun is a type of fairy in yelpish folklore, usually taking the form of an old yelper, clad in a red or green coat, who enjoys partaking in mischief and copious amounts of Guinness and Jameson. Like other fairy creatures, yelprechauns have been linked to Willie Nelson, Crystal Swing, Micheal Flatley and other men of infamous Yelpish mythology. read more
