I felt comfortable the minute I walked into the program and saw the huge yard with lots of outdoor playspace geared for my energetic little guy. The learning space inside was airy, bright and impeccably clean. There were so many hands on activities that I have never seen before in the regular preschool classroom because I never really knew what a Montessori school was until I met Maria and she guided me through her extensive curriculum. Apparently he will choose the activities he is interested in and they will provide him with lessons. Since each child could be learning something different at any given moment they have up to three teachers with only 10 children. It seems there's so much opportunity for our child to grow and learn in this warm and nurturing environment. I didn't feel this comfortable when we walked into the large daycare facility by our house so that is why I was so happy to have found this Montessori. The Spanish is an added bonus! Now I cannot wait until our little guy turns 2 so we can enroll him in.

I became much more aware of social injustices after attending CHCH and had teachers who were very socially aware. I walked into CHCH as an angry teen not expecting much. I not only raised my grades, but I started to get an idea of what my strengths actually were. The only downside is that there were a lot of very unmotivated students there at the time and there was an overall lack of respect for teachers. However, it seems like CHCH has made efforts to change this dynamic by becoming more selective on who they accept into the school- I know when I was there they were making efforts to change this, and it seems like they have. There also seems to be a much broader array of club offerings and academic opportunities which is great! Even though there was a lack of respect for teachers at the time and a lot of the students were unmotivated back then (though I don't think this is true now), as a neurodivergent teen, I did find it helpful to be around other neurodivergent teens at the time because it normalized neurodivergence for me. So that piece was helpful. They use the Multiple Intelligences Theory which is a great way to discover how you learn best. I have a lot of clients with ADHD and use Multiple Intelligences Theory in my practice. Clients love it! I think more schools should incorporate this theory, as it really would change the academic experience for a lot or students. Of course it was a typical high school with cliques and drama just like anywhere else. But overall, I'm glad I went here.

The classrooms are well-equipped with a variety of stations and activities. They are clean, meticulously organized, and children-focused. The schedules are intentionally built to foster creativity and support learning while maintaining a four-year-old's attention span. The teachers are extremely well-qualified and deeply compassionate. There is intentional and frequent communication between teachers and parents, and teachers are seen as partners in the development of the children. Academically, the school thoroughly prepares its pupils for kindergarten and beyond. Besides the essential social skills that every kindergartener needs in order to succeed, New Covenant teaches age-appropriate mathematics and literacy, adapted to each child's individual level. Student progress is recorded and analyzed to maximize the efficiency of lesson plans. The arts are a priority, and music is often included as a tool in the lesson plans. Coming from a public school, the environment couldn't be more different; he is constantly challenged, both in terms of the freedom given to him to organize his own day and show up to places on time and also academically, where (for someone who always excelled in his public schools) he is being challenged for the first time.
