I am a first generation woman of color, and I grew up in a small town in Texas. Boarding at CSW was a very dramatic change for me, but it has also given me opportunities that I would have never imagined experiencing. I have had nothing but the most supportive and passionate teachers who are completely dedicated to my success. I have been given opportunities to travel and experience the world alongside my peers, and those memories are something that come once in a lifetime. It prepared me for what I would become and now I work for a major global healthcare company. When I was there, there was a Mcdonald's in the school. The Academics were stronger. And we had a really good soccer and basketball team. Seems like it has had quite the downfall since then. The school was huge and clean, I don't know what happened. I came from outside the district and they gave me a chance. If they hadn't my life would be very different now, I can't say I would be this successful. Minuteman please open up your school choice program again, save the kids from the inner city and give them a chance!!!

I became much more aware of social injustices after attending CHCH and had teachers who were very socially aware. I walked into CHCH as an angry teen not expecting much. I not only raised my grades, but I started to get an idea of what my strengths actually were. The only downside is that there were a lot of very unmotivated students there at the time and there was an overall lack of respect for teachers. However, it seems like CHCH has made efforts to change this dynamic by becoming more selective on who they accept into the school- I know when I was there they were making efforts to change this, and it seems like they have. There also seems to be a much broader array of club offerings and academic opportunities which is great! Even though there was a lack of respect for teachers at the time and a lot of the students were unmotivated back then (though I don't think this is true now), as a neurodivergent teen, I did find it helpful to be around other neurodivergent teens at the time because it normalized neurodivergence for me. So that piece was helpful. They use the Multiple Intelligences Theory which is a great way to discover how you learn best. I have a lot of clients with ADHD and use Multiple Intelligences Theory in my practice. Clients love it! I think more schools should incorporate this theory, as it really would change the academic experience for a lot or students. Of course it was a typical high school with cliques and drama just like anywhere else. But overall, I'm glad I went here.

The faculty and administration are caring and genuine. The student body are positive and create a warm, tightly knit community. I was on the fence about public vs private school and have two older kids who did well in our public system. My son went to Curtis middle school. He brought some paper clips straightened out with erasers on…read morethe ends. He was 10. He called them his swords. The class bully tried to take the away from him at lunch. He ended up scratching the kids hand. The teacher took the paper clips to the principle and they decided they were weapons. They called the police and suspended him for a day. With all the talk about how they are all about the kids this was a pretty sociologically damaging to a 10yr old child that had no previous bad behavior. I thought they had non bullying policey?? My Daughters cell phone was stolen. She was at gym class. They gave no place to lock up her belongings. They blamed her for it being stolen. Is this what we want our kids to learn? If somone steals from you it's your fault. You are a bad kid for bringing paper clips to school. Iam glad my kids are out of there.
