Carrie is amazing. I was lucky enough to find her after several people in the Alameda Facebook pages recommended her. She guided me through my divorce process and was available for support as well. I would recommend her to anyone. Using her definitely saved me a few thousand dollars. Carrie, you're an angel on earth! read more

Carrie was good to a point. When I had to remind her of info we already had, she became angry and sent me text's that were uncalled for. She doesn't want to be wrong is what I assume. Carrie stop replying with the lies. You became upset when you knew you didn't remember all the info. My text show that I'm trying to understand you but all you're worried about is payment. Yes you do charge less but you act like a weirdo. read more

Carrie is a divorce attorney sent from heaven. I reached out to her after having had a negative experience with a paralegal, whom I had started my divorce paperwork with a year prior. I was being told by the paralegal that I had to pay another $1K to finalize the divorce, after I had already paid her over $800. I had a bad feeling about this and contacted Carrie for consultation. After giving her the history, she immediately knew what was needed to get me across the finish line, and at the fraction of the cost I was being told. I was able to complete the filing on my own with her guidance and support, over 3 one-hour calls. The entire process from our consultation to the official date of my divorce took about 5 weeks - I am still in amazement. I am forever grateful to Carrie for her incredible help and will recommend her to anyone in need of divorce services. Thank you, Carrie! read more

Carrie was absolutely amazing! If I could give 10 stars I would! From the first contact she provided excellent legal support. Self-filing for divorce in a queer marriage that also involved custody, I was anxious about getting it right. With that being said, Carrie was wonderful helping me navigate all the paperwork and gave helpful advice. She had great attention to details, quick responses, instructions, and her general support during this process made it a doable task for an emotionally charged situation. Her consultation has been invaluable and it has been such a pleasure working with her. Don't hesitate, book her now! read more

Thank you Carrie! I had an urgent case that's very sensitive. I reached out to 10 law firms within 24 hours. Nobody wanted to give me any advice without scheduling a paid consultation. I texted Carrie after reading the reviews hoping she might give me a reasonable rate for a consultation. This wonderful woman texted me back the same day and gave me more than enough information to go forward with my situation. It's a great relief to have some advice and feedback about my next steps. Thank you so much for your time! I highly recommend her. read more

On my official DIVORCE DAY (2/27/24) I find it an appropriate time to leave a 5 star review for the one who got me here! Carrie was knowledgeable, thorough and responsive. She helped me navigate what should've been a relatively easy process that was anything but! She motivated and encouraged me when I was ready to throw in the towel. I highly recommend Carrie if you're up for the challenge of self representing! She helped me breeze through the paperwork and talked me through the entire process. I felt confident and prepared going into my hearing and although initially things didn't go exactly as hoped for, the final outcome far surpassed my expectations! The services Carrie provides far outweigh the cost! You won't regret it! read more

Carrie is such a blessing. I was struggling trying to navigate a legal process on my own. It was really stressing me out. When I heard back from Carrie right away and the way she was able to quickly take action to schedule a phone meeting and start work on my case I was so happy and elated. Hiring Carrie has been a great experience. The cost is so affordable and the person touch in every step is amazing. I don't feel like one of many. Carrie is responsive at all times and willing to go the extra mile with a phone call or whatever to make me feel better. I have had such a epic experience with Carrie as a lawyer I would highly recommend her to anyone. She understood that I wanted a low key process and my situation was amicable and that is how she has helped me, never pushing to bill more or get more. I absolutely am so thankful and grateful to have found her on Yelp! read more

Carrie Gustafson is an incredible attorney and a phenomenal woman. I can't begin to express how amazing she was during this process but I will try. After 47 years of marriage we decided to relocate to CA to be close to family. My husband chose to not come, and also chose to not support me in any way, except for an occasional "cash gift" if he was feeling generous. I was broken & struggling. It was such a blessing finding Carrie. She walked me through the process and what to expect. She was encouraging, supportive and firm as needed. She delved deep, finding hidden accounts, tax discrepancies and other items that we could use to negotiate with. Thanks to Carrie, I received a very good settlement, with spousal support, and without having to go through a long, negative and costly trial. She gave me options. I was willing to compromise in some areas to make the divorce happen sooner. This phenomenal woman could easily ask for some of the extravagant rates that so many charge in the Bay, but because she understands how so many women find themselves almost impoverished once on their own, she works on a sliding scale. Her costs may be less but she gives 100% of herself. She kept me informed and was always there for me; as an attorney, a woman and a friend. I can't say enough good things so I will close by saying I would hire Carrie Gustafson again and I would highly recommend her to any woman I cared about. If you are ever in need of a good attorney, call Carrie Gustafson. read more

I used Carrie for my divorce and it could not have gone smoother. I recommend her and professionally she is who you want on your team!

I feel so fortunate that I was able to work with Carrie to reach my divorce settlement. Even though my case was not complicated, it's never easy. Carrie helped me to find the right manner of divorce for my situation, made sure I could navigate the paperwork, and gave me her expert assistance when I needed it. She was easily available by phone and email - even on the weekend. Carrie helped me make my way from start to finish without a glitch. read more

Carrie far exceeded my expectations! From our initial consultation throughout the process she was professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Despite the challenges and complexities of my divorce, Carrie accepted the challenge and succeeded in assisting me with finalizing my divorce after 10 years of resistance from my abusive and controlling ex-husband. She was truly a Godsend to my me and my children. I'd be remiss not to mention other attorneys with whom I consulted wouldn't take my case due to the very challenges Carrie surmounted, seemingly with ease. While the aforementioned is commendable, I'm most grateful for Carrie's candor, direction, and sound advice. She made the process of going through a difficult divorce both manageable and realistic. She offers a sliding scale and welcomes women who've dealt with domestic abuse and the financial challenges that often accompany single-parenthood, which was an added bonus. I couldn't have done this without her. Carrie is a fantastic attorney who I highly recommend. If you're looking for a compassionate, experienced, trustworthy litigator, Carrie Gustafson is the best choice. I guarantee you'll agree. Thank you Carrie! read more

Carrie helped me thru the complicated divorce process with great empathy and knowledge. I opted to have Carrie guide me thru much of the legwork/paperwork rather than have her do all of it herself. This not only saved me money, it also empowered me to face my ex from a position of real personal strength. We ended up with a great decision from the courts. Thank you! read more

There's a reason why people love her so much. Carrie is not only an outstanding attorney, but also a remarkable person. I truly can't believe how lucky I have been to cross paths with her during the two most difficult times in my life. She helped me when I was a young and newly single mom trying to escape my severely abusive ex. Years later she helped me again as the same crazy ex filed false claims in order to take my child away so he wouldn't have to pay child support. Carrie knows the law and is the absolute BEST at what she does not to mention that she is extremely sharp. She is every ex-husbands worst nightmare and every woman's hero! I love Carrie. She not only got me through this very difficult time in my life but now I feel free and can finally see a clear and brighter future on the horizon. I'm eternally grateful to have her in my life and that I could keep my family together and no longer have to be bullied by my ex. She gave me confidence and hope when I thought everything was crashing down. Carrie is the person you can TRUST to guide you through the legal process. You will prevail with Carrie. I have twice! Carrie Gustafson is by far one of the best legal eagles around. When I could no longer battle for child custody and visitation on my own and my well was running dry I came across Ms. Gustafson. Of all the qualities someone should desire in an attorney, a good listener should be top on the list. That is just one of the many ways to best describe Carrie. Carrie listened, remained fair, and kept what was the most important thing in the forefront, my daughter. Being a single parent and on a limited budget Carrie gave high quality affordable service that did not add to my stress, but made me feel like she was really here to help me and not to nickel and dime me to death. She was quick, thorough, and accommodating. Her service and deliverance was prompt and always efficient. She always returned a phone call, message, or email about the hardest thing down to the easiest all the while never making me feel as if I was wasting her time. Thanks to Carrie, I have remained out of family court for the last two years after an on-going battle for eight years. With her help, I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Since my time working with Carrie, I have referred a dear friend to assist with a divorce and I have referred someone for estate litigation/consultation. Both individuals have thanked me for introducing Carrie to them. I wish the same for you! read more

Carrie Gustafson has been an (legal) angel for me, as I had my 1st case pro-per (self represented). I had consulted a few attorneys' that weren't very interested since I didn't have a huge retainer to put down and work with a single mother with limited resources. I stumbled across Carrie on sites searching for affordable family law attorneys'. Boy or boy I lucked up on this legal eagle. Carrie was first and foremost HONEST, told me what to expect good or bad, and what was needed to do her job thoroughly. To give you the short and sweet version, my ex was going after me for child support because he was no longer working, and even though he only had our daughters every other weekend. I did indeed had to pay for 3 months until our long term hearing came around. After our case, my child support was removed along with attorney fee's the other attorney was trying to tag on along with some other issues that were resolved as well. I want to make one thing clear as I have held a lot of details because it's too much to write, Carrie has always had to best interest of her client which is MY daughter. Every single email or phone call she has always inquired about my child and her well being and if she was happy or not. She has given me great advice and direction, and is very prompt and always returns all correspondences. I know attorneys may have huge client base, but when you make a call or email someone your spending money on to help your legalities you at least want to feel that they give a darn about your situation. Carrie has gone above and beyond for my daughter and me, the current order was exactly what I wanted and felt that was best for my daughter. Carrie is smart, charismatic, and a pleasure to see her working in court as she is very organized and well spoken. If your looking for an excellent affordable attorney please don't overlook this powerful woman! Unfortunately, my sister died of Cancer earlier this year and Carrie is representing my mother with the estate/trust case. I will and can report that case is ongoing and doing well and my mother is very satisfied with Ms. Gustafson as well. read more

Carrie Gustafson is a very hard and compassionate worker when she represents you as a client. She has a quick mind and has been able to encompass a complex legal case with many twists and turns for my housemate. She is flexible in her ideas on handling a case and writes great letters where she summarizes the important aspects of a case. Without her help, my housemate would have been at a loss for representation. She charged a reasonable fee and was also available for questions, he had about his case. Carrie Gustafson is the best divorce attorney. You will be satisfied you have the very best legal representation. Want to know more? Then keep reading. Based on Yelp reviews, I advised my son's girfriend who is more fluent in Chinese and lives in Oakland to hire Ms. Gustafson for what quickly became a messy divorce involving child custody and support. Ms. Gustafson has a sliding scale so she cares that people at all income levels have access to professional legal services. She ensured that all of us involved in the gf's divorce understood everything and language was not a barrier for her client. She met with us at odd times, depending on the client's work schedule and legal crises. She constantly and consistently communicated via emails, our preferred method, even late at night and on weekends. She flexes her work and personal lives to the client's advantage. We talked on the phone and had in-person meetings as desired/necessary. Her behind the scenes work and actions in court have been supremely professional (we are not out of the woods yet). She recommended a Chinese-speaking family therapist with impeccable credentials and payment became part of the child support order. She recommended a place that provides supervised visitation. She knows judges, court-appointed mediators, etc. Carrie is well worth having her on your side, especially when it involves paying child support for many, many years. I will recommend her to everyone who will be divorcing no matter where in the bay area they live. read more

Just to update my current situation, with Carrie's help, I now have sole physical and sole legal custody of my daughter. I was served papers recently and again needed her legal expertise. As always she answered my call and after explaining the situation she was willing and ready to help me out. I have my hands full these days and although I called her on a Friday afternoon, she got started on my case/paperwork that very weekend! Don't know too many lawyers who answer your call let alone work on your case over the weekend! After exchanging a few emails, she knew exactly what I needed to file and early that following week, she had my paperwork ready to go! I just heard back from her on a Saturday letting me know that the judge signed my paperwork, Order to Quash Contempt OSC! Meaning that he threw out the charges that were falsely filed by father and kept our next court date as is. YAY! Kudos to Carrie! Couldn't ask for a better and efficient attorney. She could easily command more for her services but stays consistently, reasonably priced! read more

Little did I know, this was going to be the fight of my life. I walked into an Oakland volunteer center, broke and uneducated about family law, specifically in regards to Divorce cases. This was my second visit to the volunteer clinic, thinking it was going to be a simple process (just sign on the dotted line, and move on with my life). After taking a deeper dive into the case logistics, Carrie found several incidents where fraud had been committed. She prevented me from walking away from rights I had no idea I had. I thought I was already defeated and was ready to give it all up. Carrie, with her huge heart, was willing to take on my case outside of the volunteer clinic...even through my frustrations, she encouraged me not to give up. She was extremely accessible, responsive to all my remedial questions, emails and even text messages, paid close attention to detail, knows the law like the back of her hand, and will go to bat for her clients fighting tooth and nail. She did this for me over a course of 2 years until we recently reach a victory in my favor. I will be forever grateful that God has brought her into my life. I highly highly recommend her. She overley exceeded my expectations!!!!!! read more
