Everything started out smooth. They made copies of my insurance claim, ordered the parts and got my car in on Tuesday, 5/28. On Friday, I received a text from them saying my car should be ready the following Friday, 6/7. Three minutes later, another text said it will be ready Tuesday 6/4. The following day another text said completion date is now 6/6. The next three days, the same text giving 6/6 as completion day. Although the texts were somewhat inconsistent, I didn't mind because I know there are unforeseen circumstances, and overall, I was pleased that they were keeping me updated. On 6/6, they informed me the car wouldn't be ready until the next day. The next day, Crystal called and said my car was ready to be picked up, however, she said she had one question: Did my insurance send me a check for the repairs? I told her no, I thought they sent it to you guys. She said no, we haven't received it yet. Why they would wait until my car is done to ask me this is beyond my comprehension. She should already know that my insurance company is contracted with them to send the money directly to Carriage Masters, and never directly to the customer. Crystal said she would contact my insurance to get it straightened out. The next day I called Crystal, and she said they were never able to contact the insurance company, that every time they would get "disconnected" and that they would have to hold my car over the weekend and try again on Monday. On Monday, my wife called and spoke to Mackenzie at the front desk to ask her why they would say the car was ready when they knew all along that the payment had not yet been received. Mackenzie threw Crystal under the bus and told my wife to call back at 9:00 am, when Crystal would be there, and told my wife "maybe you would have better luck if you called the insurance company yourself." We called the insurance company and got a hold of them right away and within minutes, they cleared everything up with Carriage Masters. We went right away to pick up the car. Mackenzie called Charley from the back to go over the repairs with us. When Mackenzie handed our paperwork to Charley, she got real close to him and started whispering something to him. When she saw that my wife was watching and trying to hear what she was telling Charley, Mackenzie took Charley out of the office, and around the corner, out of sight of my wife. Very suspicious and definitely rude. Charley went over the repairs and everything seemed fine. But, then I noticed that the spoiler had two deep scratches that weren't there when I brought it in. If I hadn't noticed it, they would have never had said anything. Was this what Mackenzie was whispering to Charley? Very suspicious, indeed. Just as I mentioned the scratches to Charley, Louie came and said he would fix it right away and pay for a rental car for us. He said the car should be ready by Wednesday, 6/12. Wednesday came and went without a call, as did Thursday. Finally, they called on Friday to say it was ready. The scratches were fixed on the spoiler, but, now I see what appears to be a fingerprint on the hatch that won't come off. When you walk in you can't figure out if you are in a body shop or a café. It was a really beautiful decor but seriously a body shop with French cafe decor? Then we are asked to fill out paperwork to get an estimate. Well that was weird TMI for a small dent in a tailgate that we are paying for. I don't get it but ok. Then the guy looks at our dent goes in back somewhere, then comes out takes us out to the truck and says I kid you not "you want this fixed just covered up or fixed good?" Really is there more than one way? JOKE!!! So we took our estimate and put it in the recycle bin. No how no way that estimate was high high high and the things he said that had to be done. The first thing you notice is the reception window is too small for the amount of business that they do, yet everyone is waited on in a timely manner. Had a long week of bad luck, car took a toll and being new didn't know what to do or where to go, went first thing in the morning and top it off the chick with the dark hair asks me for my insurance and what kind of car do I have, she could of asked me if it was my first time coming in. I brought in my car here about 6 months ago (a little overdue, I know) after getting into a fender-bender on my way to work at the time. They are an Allstate preferred location and honestly, they treated me so well and were beyond professional. I brought my car in and they looked up my claim information and I was good to go! The owner also had me inspect the vehicle along with him to assess the damage so that everything was transparent as possible. He really was a nice guy and wanted to make sure everything went as smooth as possible. The ladies in the office were also very kind and professional and were glad to help and answer any questions. When I received my car a week later (which was my estimated repair time), my bumper looked brand new and it looked like nothing had happened to it! The owner also walked me through a final inspection before I left just to make sure I was satisfied with the results! That's how you do customer service! I will end by saying that if you car needs any body repairs, come here and you will receive grade-A customer service and they will treat your car right! I took my Z06 corvette to these people. They had the car 2-3 time longer than they said they would. (8-9 weeks) I had to return it probably 5 times to get things addressed that they screwed up on. Issues with the paint, leaking water, etc Guess what...the paint looks better but still has issues, and it still leaks water. Very amateur in my opinion. When you have a killer car come in, from a car enthusiast, dont put someone incompetent on it!! I spoke with the owner before everything .....telling him I wasnt sure if I was going to turn it in to the insurance, or just pay for it. I asked can you get the paint as good as factory? He says "oh please, we can get it BETTER than factory. I have yet to see that!!! The crazy thing is my insurance company doesnt recommend these people, but because we live in liberal CA, there is a law saying you can go anywhere. .....to think I REQUESTED these imbeciles of my insurance company, and this is how they treat someone who goes out of their way to give them business! Carriage Masters was recommended to me by several friends. I was rear-ended in mid-May. I brought my car to this body shop a week or so later. It ended up needing more work than my insurance appraiser originally planned for, but other than calling and letting me know, I wasn't really involved. I liked that they took the responsibility of dealing directly with my insurance. For me, this worked. I'm very busy and don't have time to be sitting around making phone calls all day. I think Carriage Masters could improve on their customer contact. Whenever I spoke with someone in person or over the phone they were very kind and professional. The trouble was getting someone on the phone. Every contact made was by me or them returning an earlier call from me. Overall, they did a great job on my vehicle and taking care of the insurance work. They did not have good communication with me which especially concerned me because my car was in the shop for 2 weeks. Came to Carriage Masters after an incident with bad service at Neira's on Meany. This body shop fixed my VW and did a good job, I cannot tell the vehicle was damaged, not by looking at it. Something came up while my car was in the shop and I had to go out of state. This shop was able to store the car safely and securely for more than the week I was gone after repairs were finished. Ok I get it as a business owner and management we are all here to make money. But to charge for estimates when EVERY competitor that surrounds you does not is really poor decision making. I get body shops are buried with insurance work it takes time to make estimates. But when a customer comes in for a non insurance estimate the 25 bucks is well made up due to insurance labor time pay is way less than customer pay.....and that's in every part of automotive repair....terrible decisions by management over a lousy $25....... read more

We've used Carriage Masters a few times now since moving to Bakersfield. We were rear ended once. Not too many issues with that repair, except the communication is rough. Once the repair is authorized, it seems like it would behoove CM to call the customer to schedule the repair, but we had to call in several times before we could get answers about scheduling our repair. This has been a recurring issue with all the repairs we've now had, over a period of about 7 years. Same issue with our other vehicle when my wife tore up her bumper. Couldn't get any answers about scheduling, made a ton of calls, finally got the thing in for repairs. Didn't get a call when it was finished. After driving the vehicle (2007 JEEP Grand Cherokee) home, discovered they hadn't actually replaced the (plastic) bumper. They tried reshaping and reusing the existing parts. It looked BAD. The shape was all wrong on the collision side, which was completely obvious when comparing it to the undamaged side of the same piece, which wraps around the back of the JEEP. Had to drive it back in to have a new bumper installed. In another instance, our Chrysler Town and Country was in for repairs that went down the entire side of the passenger side, front panel, passenger door, passenger side mirror, sliding door, rear panel... The repairs that were done looked decent enough, but they hadn't even touched the passenger mirror housing, which was badly scraped and damaged in the accident. Most recent incident involved the van again, and when I went to go pick it up, I noticed they had folded down all my second row seats into the floorboard (stow n go seats). That's weird, I thought. There's no reason to fold down the seats. Had to pop them back up to leave, though. Car seats. When I pulled the seats out of the stowed position, it was immediately clear why they had stowed them. They folded the seats down to hide the fact that, while repairing the sliding door on the passenger side, they ripped the plastic skirting off my second row seat. Then, to make it less noticeable that they had hidden the one seat, they also stowed the driver side stow n go seat. These seats don't just fold down, either. You have to move the front row seats up almost all the way and remove the floor mats in order to open the trap door in the deck, then fold down the seat, close the trap door, replace the mats, and move the driver's seat and passenger seat back into place. There's absolutely no way any of this was unintentional, with all the effort it took to try to hide the damage. The guy who was with me when I made the discovery promised they'd order the replacement parts and call me straight away so they could replace the broken bits. That was two months ago. I just called my insurance company to follow up, because I have no illusions that I would get anywhere or get a straight answer at the consumer level. So, the repairs are decent enough, but you'll have to make sure you inspect the vehicle carefully when you get it back, because they miss stuff like mirrors, and you have to make sure they actually replace parts that need replacing, because they will try to repair irreparable parts, and they'll do their best to hide damages that occur during repairs, and no matter what happens, you'll have to instigate most of the communication. read more

I've had work done there before and they are good, there not that good. Went to 3 other shops and estimates were free. And the girl at the desk had an attitude, not friendly. I took in my Corvette here for the rear Collision. Poor communication and service. I was not very happy when I got my car back. The interior was not tucked in right after they re-installed my audio system. My emblem in the back is loose, had a lot of minor scratches than before and a lot of other issues. $10,000 paid to this place was not worth every penny. I went in for front end work after my car was hit. It took way beyond the estimated time of completion. When it was completed my ignition fell apart?? This part was not even close to the impact area obviously. Also the front end should of had all new parts, but one head light looked hazy and used. I have had 3 bulbs burn out since and the whole piece needs to be replaced now at a new cost of 1400.00. My mechanic asked if I had front end damage because this would cause all the headlight problems if improperly installed. Plus the paint job was not matched with the rest of the car. You might think with their fancy name they would be good. They are not. They tell you one week to fix it and it will be three weeks. They call and say its ready but its not. As soon as I filed my claim with my Insurance Allstate Agent Rebecca about my event that devastated me and was already so upsetting to me and made me feel so unorganized about everything that was going to happen and going on, right away my Allstate Agent Rebecca put me right at ease and made me not feel lost anymore and I knew I had a solid plan. Right away Carriage Masters called me, her name was Crystal, and she was so compassionate and empathetic and felt like my best friend. She knew everything that had happened and was there for me. My family and I were involved in a 3 car accident on our way back home from a vacation to Disneyland. Our car had to be towed and our insurance recommended Carriage Masters for our automotive repair. From the beginning, every insurance company we dealt with was rude, unhelpful and absent. The only good part of this whole ordeal was Carriage Masters. They kept me updated daily, helped me fill out paperwork from 6 hours away, and the mechanic test drove it for a day so we wouldn't have any problems once the car was finished and towed north to where we live. When I was planning on driving down to get it, they said they'd keep the car on their lot until I was able to get down there, with no charge. When I found a company to tow it at an affordable price, they worked with the company and myself to make the transaction seamless. I filled out their customer survey and then received a call from them, thanking me for doing it and confirming my address so they can send a gas gift card. My husband and were blown away at their kindness,professionalism and concern for us, especially when it seemed no one else cared. A special shout out to Nicole Davis. Had a car repaired and the work is good, but the estimator I dealt with is nothing short of a con man and was extremely unprofessional. I'm still trying to get my $500 deductible returned as my deductible was waived. I told the estimator this and asked if he would call to confirm, but he didn't. I had a really good experience with my car being repaired here. I recently got into an accident which I was not at fault for. The person at fault who thankfully had insurance, their insurance basically paid for it all. Despite the hesitant and procrastination coming from this insurance company, they were very knowledgeable. Charlie was ok to work with but the girls were more attentive. Charlie helped with the car info and how the insurance company will go about the claim for my car and repairs which gave me peace of mind. Unfortunately he didn't notify me that the additional work came with a "betterment price." This meant that I had to pay 15% of my total price that the insurance company paid. I wasn't told about this from no one from Charlie nor the insurance. That's the reason for the 4 stars. Other than this, I will recommend Carriage Masters to my friends and family especially for Accident claims for insurance coverage. read more

Had my vehicle repaired here beginning of this year. Walked in to a very comfortable atmosphere, very unique and relaxing. I felt like the decor was tasteful and welcoming, a far cry from the usual crummy bare walled, body shop smelling, mind numbing waiting area. The staff was exceptionally friendly. I did notice that the office staff is bilingual which is a must in customer service. I had issues getting the other party's insurance to begin my repairs promptly. While I dealt with every day life the office staff dealt with the insurance and kept my involvement to a minimum. My vehicle was ready when promised and came back to me detailed inside and out.
