When you are in small French towns, don't just go to the huge Carrefour, but give the locals a chance to become a part of your life. The Carre Sauvage is a great example, it's a small place located on the Main Street of Barbican. But it makes up for its size with the quality of the produce.
We had great green lettuces and other salads things there. Also the fruit even in the fall was terrific. The pears were great as were the apricots. The prices were for sure higher than the hypermarket that is outside of town, but when you are shopping here, you get fresher produce and fruits and some personal attention. So if you are in Barbican, its the perfect spot to pick a few things for a picnic before you head off to the great woods that are right there. read more
