Bought our first house which we spent 5 weeks doing up before we planned to move in. We had to recarpet the whole house so we went to Carpets 4 Less on a recommendation.
We decided on a carpet and after they measured up they informed us that the carpet was discontinued and they couldn't get it in. We then found another one that we liked but that couldn't be supplied in a wide enough cut. We eventually found one that we could have and placed the order. There was absolutely no discount offered and they wouldn't even thrown in the carpet door bars which I have to say annoyed me a little.
Anyway carpets ordered.a week later, the first call came informing me that there may be a delay in getting carpets. I was assured by the salesman that they wouldn't let me down. Two weeks went by and no further contact, so I phoned the shop to see what was going on and the carpets were in and ready to fit.
During the waiting time I had heard a couple of reports from people who ordered carpets and the wrong colour turned up, one of which was from my parents. So the Saturday before our fitting I went into the store to check that the right carpets were in. This was the point at which Carpets 4 Less went from a 3.5 star rating to 1 star. The person that I spoke to, who I have found out since is the franchise owner, basically called me a liar in front of other customers and got very defensive about me exercising my right to check the carpets, especially as we were moving in imminently and did not have any time to play with I think it has to be the worst example of customer service that I have ever experienced. Anyway I left the shop very angry and stressed.
The carpets were fitted and I got a call at 3 o'clock to tell me that the job was complete. I went home to pay the fitter and was told that one of the rooms hadn't been done due to a manufacturing defect in the carpet, which in the light of day cannot be helped. I phoned the shop and they informed me that a new piece of carpet had been ordered and would be layed at a time convenient to us! The carpet was eventually fitted 2 weeks later but on a Saturday morning, but no compensation for the inconvenience was offered.
Anyway, following my experience I telephoned Carpets 4 Less Head Office about the attitude of the Franchise Manager and they told me that all they could do was to have a word with him, but other than that there is very little they can do. I will not be buying my laminate flooring from them or returning for any business in the future, nor would I recommend them! read more
