Even when you know of the shop's existence as you approach it there is nothing inviting about it. Even as you enter it is small and a tad bit chaotic. However the good news is the service. They are prepared to spend time with you looking at various samples and giving sound advise without any pressurised selling. For a small shop there a very good choice concentrating on British manufactures. You are allowed to take some free samples home with you which is necessary as the lighting in the shop is atrocious. My main criticism is they should spend some money on brighter lighting perhaps with halogen bulbs so one gets a truer picture of the colours. My advise would be to change to better lighting as soon as possible. The director was prepared to offer a small discount and said he or his partner could do the fitting himself without getting in an outside contractor. From my past experience an outside contractor can be a nightmare with shoddy workmanship and very little comeback. The order was taken and the carpet fitted within 4 weeks and we were fully satisfied with all aspects. We can recommend Aspen Flooring who are a small independent company rather than using one of the multi nationals. Making a comparison between the two the price difference was negligible but you do get personal service and a good job done. We had no complaints watchsoever.

Unless you knew it existed it is not place you would easily find and then it would not be difficult to drive past. The shop frontage does not have a "Wow" factor that would make you stop and look, in fact it quite uninspiring. Once inside there as a lack of heating but the warm and friendly service made up for this fact. There are loads of books of sample which are available for you to take away a couple so you can look at the colours in a true light in the comfort of your own home. A necessity as the lighting in the shop is not the best in the world. All this in some ways is irrelevant as the product, price and service are the important issues. Aspen Flooring comes out well on all these points. There may be a delay to laying the carpet if you want one of the directors to do this for you rather than an outside contractor. We would recommend you take this option as you have a direct comeback if a problem Last time we had an outside contractor lay a carpet it was a disaster and took ages to sort out. Free off street parking is available in the lay by opposite or you can get the hourly 437 bus which stops nearby.

CMS's careprt fitters removed all our interior doors and did not re-hang them. They left the doors…read morelaying on the floor and piled up all over the place, preventing us moving back into the rooms. The doors are too heavy for me to move myself so I am stuck now. I work from home so being unable to use my office is a huge problem for me. Ian at CMS claimed it was because they are supposedly "not insured" to work with doors. We found this out only after the installation -- at no point before were we prepared for any problems with the doors, despite an on-site survey/measure up and two lengthy consultations in the store where we were walked through (supposedly) every aspect of the installation. We paid a great sum of money for an comprehensive installation service and have been left to go on Google scrabbling around for a handyman to fix their mess. Manager did not even do the courtesy of apologising and delegated it to the front desk lackey. Not good. I advise you all to use CarpetRight instead, because they *do* offer a complete service, including door trimming and re-fitting.

CMS Downs is a large independent carpet retailer situated in Woking. They offer a huge range of…read morecarpets and other floor coverings (but not laminates). The ranges include everything from cheap flooring to top of the range wool carpets. Some of the carpets are available from stock but the majority are ordered in. Room sized remnants are available. Staff are very helpful and offer good advice. It's possible to borrow samples to view at home, without charge and for as long as you like. They also offer a service whereby samples will be brought round to your house so that you can take a pick from a wider range in situ. Measuring services are available. Fittings that we have had done have been good. Fitters have turned up on time and been neat and tidy in their work. You can't negotiate much on price but charges for fitting etc seem to be reasonable. There are regular sales but don't expect too many big discounts. The shop also stock a small range of beds although this doesn't seem to be key business. Recommended.

Sadly a very disappointing experience which started off promisingly…read more The product range is good quality & the before sales advice is warm & friendly, however research any products recommended to you independently before placing an order with this business as the sales advice may be inaccurate. I ordered a high quality, high price carpet & after a poor quality installation & fitting I was then informed that it was due to the product not being fit for purpose. However this product was confirmed to me by the business owner as being very hard wearing & suitable for the area that it would be fitted within when I placed the order with him. The owner's attitude upon being questioned about the standard of fitting was defensive, argumentative & arrogant. The fitting was questioned after frays were spotted, along with a loose join, carpet cut too short in places & 'bags' due to it not being stretched tightly enough over the grippers. These faults were spotted just 4 hours after fitting so understandably I was concerned about it's resilience to future wear & tear. After being accused of sabotaging my own carpet by the owner, he did agree to contact me to arrange a date to carry out the necessary repairs. I had to chase him to get a date agreed, as he failed to contact me as he'd agreed. He also put through the remaining balance of payment on my card without my authorisation, without contacting me & before I'd even seen the finished work. I wouldn't use this business again
