I hired Mr. Alvarez to install carpet in my 2 bedroom condo on Brickell Key. He gave me a fair price and had been recommended by a realtor in the building. I was out of town when he installed carpeting in 2 rooms. Unfortunately, I paid him before seeing the final job. To my horror, the carpets were not properly installed. There were frayed edges and they didn't bother to secure carpet that butted up to the tile. I informed him that I was not happy with the installation. After seeing the pictures I sent him...he said that for him to secure the carpet he would have to charge me more. Needless to say, I was furious. His behavior was totally unprofessional and disrespectful. I ended up having to hire someone to finish the job I paid him to do. read more

STAY AWAY!! LIES ALL AROUND!!! HERBIE FROM CARBET KING I was a first time home buyer looking to redo the floors of my newly purchased house and like most first time home buyers wanted to try and find the lowest price. I learned a valuable lesson, the lowest price will come with the WORST SERVICE and a TERRIBLE job done which will then cost you more in the near future. HERBIE, the owner of carpet king, runs a sleazy little business. He quoted me one price to do the job then increased the price after they started the job saying he forgot to quote me for the bathrooms and laundry. Cost me an extra $1000. He stated in the beginning that he will warrantee his work for up to a year which is the reason why I went with him. ANOTHER LIE! When the work was done (a week later than it was suppose to) there were flaws everywhere. I've included some of these flaws in the pictures of this review. The biggest flaw was the fact that in less than a month the floors started to come apart. See the pictures with the raptured floors. I reached out to him multiple times, NO ANSWER. I eventually got a hold of him a near 6 months later; he said he would stop by to take a look, NEVER DID. I reached out to him multiple times for anther month and he finally agreed to stop by. When he showed up he brought carpet samples (it was obvious the only reason he came by was because he thought I was a potential new customer, you saw it on his face). He looked at the damages and said he would have to find our contract to see the date the work was done as he only warrantees work for a year. He left and never called back. I called him multiple times again and when I finally got him on the phone, he said he was unable to find my contract and asked if I had a copy I could send to him, WHICH I DID, proving to him the work was done less than a year ago!!! He said he will speak to his floor guys about what needs to be done and get back to me. AGAIN HE NEVER DID. I called him a few more times again and when he picked up he said he only fixes complaints a customer makes when they express them a few days or so after the work is done but he will let his floors guys know and get back to me?????? OF COURSE, ANOTHER LIE. HE STILL HAS NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME! This is a real story of unprofessionalism and a lack of integrity at its worst. Its unfortunate I had to experience this and I wish this experience on no one. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND DO THE FOLLOWING: - STAY AWAY - CALL SOMEONE ELSE - PICK THE OTHER GUY - Evaluate for yourself - this is what you will spend your hard earned money on when you choose Herbie. Don't let his price fool you as it did me. Between the fact that he added an additional $1000 in the middle of the work and did such a terrible job that I now have to have it redone by someone else.
