Went here for a CT chest scan on Friday, April 17th. I checked in with "Tita" who I'd previously…read morespoken to on the phone, and she is delightful-- cheerful, warm & very professional. Can't say much about the tech or "nurse" who conducted my scan. I had to ask nurse 3 times to move the pillow so it supported my head, not my upper back (which had me gagging). She told me at a certain point she would give me a shot of contrast, and when she did it really HURT -- she is no Phlebotomist! I developed a black & blue mark at the site, and it's still sore four days later! Tech asked if was allergic to iodine, and I didn't really know but told her I was allergic to shrimp (lots of iodine). Tech said they had a "way around that, whatever that meant. Also, I had the impression the tech would be communicating with me throughout the procedure. Instead, there suddenly was this pre-recorded LOUD male voice barking "breath in, hold breath, breath out, breath. . . .";, i.e. no human contact. Thankfully the scan took only 5 minutes -- a LONG 5 minutes! When it ended the tech wheeled me out to the waiting room where my husband was. I was given no piece of paper with what to expect after receiving the scan, especially that contrast dye! I had to do all the post procedure research myself on-line, and that's where I found out why I was so horribly exhausted, stomach aching & dizzy. Making matters worse, I called yesterday to ask who would be reviewing my results there. This receptionist (named Adrienne) bluntly answered "I don't know". I asked her if she could find out, and her answer was "All I can do is print out your results, and you can come pick them up, bring your ID. I just wanted off the call and to see what she printed. Husband stopped there to run in to get them a couple hours later. He forgot her name, but one receptionist was not there (I'm guessing Adrienne). He said to Tita there should be a printout of my CT results for me (he brought my I.D.). Tita looked everywhere for them, there was no printout to be found, so Tita printed them. If it weren't for Tita I don't think I'd have a positive thing to say about Carolinas Imaging Services, Ballantyne!

There's plenty of parking as the lot is quite large and it is located at the main entrance for easy access. When you step into the lobby you will see the large reception area. Someone on the staff will cheerily offer assistance to guide you as to who can help you quickly. There wasn't a wait for service and once you check in at front desk you will be guided to seating area. I didn't have to wait but approx 5mins before someone on the medical staff came out to escort me inside the clinical area. So nice not to have to wait for ages to be seen. My appt was 4pm which seemed like a good time to pick if you want a stress free 1st experience. As I was waiting a few people came in wondering where audiology was. Just so you know...it's upstairs.

I have also had an abdominal ultrasound done. All of the techs are very nice. They do their jobs well and are very caring. I appreciate the fact that most of the CT staff are trained to access power ports for the IV contrast. I only wish the MRI staff were, as well. Last time, it took 3 people, and 5 tries, to get my IV going.

These guys are amazing. Friday night, I fell and went face first into a door jam lacerating my face and tongue. Literally a bloody mess. Next morning, tongue was still bleeding and we thought it might need stiches. along with restricted breathing due to swelling. Local Urgent Care could not help and suggested going to an ER. We walked in a little after 8:00am and were taken back within 5 minutes. Nurse came in for vitals and the Dr. came in a few minutes later and checked me out. Due to the location of the cut on the tongue, getting stiches was not indicated and that it would heal on it's own. That said, as a precaution, the Dr. ordered a series of X-Rays and CT Scans of the head and thorax ( 5 in total ) looking for any trauma or underlying condition that could explain the fall other than my right knee going out. It's was previously replaced in 2004. I have previously had 2 TIA's so may have been looking for signs of a 3rd. The staff was outstanding. Very professional and fast and explained every part of the procedures. Went back to my cubby hole where my wife was at and the nurse finished up by taking blood and giving me a tetanus booster. The Dr returned and reviewed the result and fortunately no traumatic damage other than cuts and bruises. For follow up, he did indicate that he wanted me to follow up on Monday with my Primary Care Physician. With swollen tongue, not a lot of fun and looking forward to solid food again.
