They were very delicious and the price was decent. We could not leave without buying something from the bakery counter. Everyone needs to try the Sally-Andrea. It is a chocolate desert filled with peanut butter that is one of the most delicious deserts we've had. Next time I'm in Thunder Bay I'll be going back to Nucci's. The interior of the building is clean, well organized and very friendly staff.

I've had better baked goods but that's likely not due to the Persian Man at all. Prices were very reasonable and the other bakery items like cannolis etc were solid. Service was fast. The bread and other pastries also looked amazing. We were helped by the owner, who convinced us to pick out a couple extra items to take advantage of her half dozen special, instead of paying more for fewer items. All the employees were very nice!

Absolutely a delightful place…read more It was around noon when we visited Sweet North Bakery. It was very vibrant and was nice to see friendly staffs working there. There was a bit of line up of 5-6 people ahead of us, which was totally worth waiting. It seemed TBay locals love the place (people kept coming even after we ordered and sat down!) Although there were many customers, food and beverages came out quickly, and they tasted good. Especially their close-relationships with local businesses impressed me, I could see their products or other businesses' products made at Sweet North all over the town. Their pretzels are fantastic. We tried blueberry scones, pizza and pierogi pretzels for breakfast-ish brunch with latte and cappuccino. Well balanced taste with quality toppings. I would love to go back when I visit TBay again!

The girl who answered took my order and was very pleasant. I did have to call store again to get a invoice and it turns out that I was billed twice for the same order and had to call back several times to get it sorted out. The gentleman in accounts was rude, cut me off when trying to explain about online and was not very nice. Made me feel like it was my fault for using online and thats why I was billed twice. He did not even want to try and correct the online issue but instead answered abruptly and said they will look into. It did get it sorted out eventually but what a task to get a meat tray delivered. I will think twice ordering anything like that again from there.

They still make the same old special breads as used to be here years ago but the prices in them are through the roof (poppy seed bread very expensive!!!) but their bread does taste good. Maybe with better hours of operation they might get more affordable. Parking is non existent so you have to park on Simpson and walk down, sometimes this doesn't seem like such a good idea. I'll go if I have limited options but right now this bakery is pretty pricy for what you get.

The accessories are funner than the product itself. But aside from my utter confusion as to the Persian itself, this bakery is fine. The hours are a bit inconvenient - it closes at 5:30. Persians are as much a part of Thunder Bay as Nanabijou himself!…read more A persian is a cinnamon bun topped with pink icing, that is so fresh that it falls apart in your fingers as you eat it. It is a heavenly sugar bomb that is exclusive to Thunder Bay. Local Thunder Bay diners will also serve a toasted persian as well, where they cut it in half lengthwise and cook it on a grill, "grilled cheese sandwich" style. There are a few places where you can get persians, but Persian Man is one of the better places. It's location is off Balmoral, and it is definately worth the trip for a little piece of heaven on earth.

I would love to know the recipe! As for their drinks, I usually get an Americano which is consistently good. But I've also gotten a latte and mocha (made with real chocolate) before and they were also wonderful. Best of all, all proceeds from their sales go towards supporting the women's shelter. What's extra cool is that it's inside a beautiful church with beautiful stained glass windows and the employees are actually volunteers who give their time and the profits go to the church to be used for the community (apparently they're building a youth community center in town). I don't go to church, but it was so peaceful being there. It's definitely an experience--not your typical coffeeshop visit. I wish we had a church-coffeeshop-bakery all in one where I live. My only complaint is, okay two actually: 1) have a plastic lid that covers your baked goods from the flies 2) please don't play the same playlist--even if it was pretty music--every day; I was there every day for a week and was almost going out of my mind, haha.
