Blueberry Persian (5/5), Chocolate (2.5/5), Raspberry classic Persian (4/5), & Purple coloured fundraiser ones

Definitely a Thunder Bay delicacy worth trying and even bringing home!! Their cinnamon bun meets donut pastry was actually pretty yummy in combination with their raspberry icing...despite its VERY HUMBLE visual appeal. Our favourite has to be the Blueberry Persian, then their classic Raspeberry Persian, & least of all was their chocolate which wasn't anything special (and a tad too sweet). TIP: Buying Persians to bring home - call first to set aside a dozen bag of UN-ICED Persians. You'll get a separate tub of icing (good to place into your check-in luggage if you're flying). You can now assemble your own Persians at home OR freeze them so you can have them in the future.

The two times I've been in or passing through Thunder Bay, I've had to stop in here to grab some Persians. These local pastries are a must try when in Thunder Bay. I'd describe these as a cross between a donut and cinnamon bun, with a berry icing. I bought a dozen with icing on the side to bring back to Toronto, pop them in the freezer and fridge, and thaw out and reheat when craved.

The ever famous Persian donut in Thunder bay that tasted like Tim Hortons, everyone who visited T-bay should try it.

Persian Man gets 5 star just for the novelty. I grew up in Thunder Bay and I actually remember "Persian Day" at school, every Thursday when kids would line up and get a delicious Persian as a morning treat. It's basically a cinnamon roll with a thick slathering of pink (strawberry) icing over top. They can only be found in Thunder Bay - at the Persian Man (best place to get them) or most bakeries in town. Even the Walmart in Thunder Bay has them stocked from a nearby bakery. Personally I just like the icing.

The persian - cinnamony holeless donut topped with the most sugary pink frosting* and only found in Thunder Bay. If Heaven could be sinful and have an affair with Hell, the persian is its love child. This is a must-try when passing through Thunder Bay (and believe me, if you are taking any cross-country road trip, you WILL hit up Thunder Bay). When fresh, the donut is so soft and perfect. When stale, it's still smothered in the pink frosting. My teeth hurt just thinking about it. TIP: Throughout the years, the persian has tried to expand its range by offering the same donut but with different frosting (blueberry and chocolate). Naturally, any n00b would want to instantly go for the chocolate. Don't. Not that it'll taste bad; I'm sure that it's a tasty treat, but it honestly will cease to be a persian if not covered with that trademark pink frosting. Go pink or go home. * It's strawberry

Perogies, tea and a Persian. YUM!

You BETCHA I searched for the Persian Man on my trip through Thunder Bay. I had the luxury of eating a Persian Man doughnut before, they had been brought back from TBay by a co-worker who was from there, and damn thy were tasty. A cinnamon roll doughnut with pink frosting on top. Deeeeelightful! On my recent road trip through TBay with the Hubby I told him we had to stop there for lunch. The weekday special was hot beef on a bun, a coffee and a Persian for $6.50. My hubby got the special and I got perogies and a Persian with a cup of tea. Neither of us were disappointed. Good, simple, homemade food. Tasted good and the price was right! What's not to like? Just go try it.

Sliced in half and iced. Delicious and decadent.

Absolutely delicious Persian donuts! Like a Cinnabon with raspberry icing. I wish they had them in Toronto.

The chicken wraps here are amazing. Plus the Persians which are basically a flat cinnamon bun with pink icing are fluffy and delicious!

It s a pretty standard for what you would expect from chain. We stopped in midday on a Saturday and there were a few other customers, but it definitely was not busy or fall. They still had a huge variety of donuts and, since it's been a while since I've been in a Tim Hortons, I was surprised at how many lunch and food options they offered as well. we were there to simply get our TH fix on a trip up from the US so ordered some coffee (caramel toffee and red eye) and then a maple dip and a honey cruller. They hit the spot and we were on our way. Service was pleasant. The only item was that my partner noticed it was a little dirty in the seating area but I didn't notice since we didn't stay.

Beyond just liking the chain though, we've been to them in most/all the major Canadian cities in the East and West, but this one was on the less-populated Lake Superior circle drive starting at Sault Saint Marie (possibly the prettiest drive we've done around the world! ) This was definitely the nicest Tim's on that drive. It is comparable to other larger city locations. Clean, friendly service, fresh food (my kids are obsessed with Timbits so probably best we don't have one of these near home I guess. Lol) I even love the reusable coffee mugs. I got one for coffee, and one for my wine in the evening (it's just one glass, right?!) Prices and variety are great. This location is much faster than the less-visited ones along the trans-Canada highway! We love you Tim and we love Canada! (Want to trade President/Prime Minister?! )
