My son was treated from 2.5 months to 6 months for his head shape, and because of the actives she gave us, a helmet was ultimately not needed. Starting this process early was the right move for my son, and I believe the exercises were great. The PT appts here were something I looked forward to, and as a first time mom helped me stay on track with development and make sure my son's head was growing properly. Bri was always an email or phone call away for any questions. I would highly recommend this office to anyone needing PT.

I personally was unhappy with Carolina Kinder Development. They kept pushing for a helmet for my…read morebaby even when their numbers did not align with what was initially told to us (his cranial index was showing improvement and they told me his degree of deviation was severe even though the number fell in the lower side of moderate). We ended up not getting the helmet and told Dr. Elizabeth that we would like to keep trying correctional positioning since we felt like we were seeing an improvement. She kept measuring him (manually) and telling us how bad he was even though everyone who knew him could see his head shape being corrected. At one point I asked her about the numbers and showed her what her documents initially said and she had no answer to it. I had also mentioned to her that my side of the family has head shapes that are a little bit tapering and not exactly round so it may also be a little hereditary. To my surprise, she said "well we live in a world where people care about physical appearances so a helmet will make his head perfectly round" so she indirectly agreed that there was no functional reason, just aesthetic (by her standards). We got imaging done at Level 4 and Cranial Technologies and both results showed him being at the lower end of moderate too. Eventually we decided to not get the helmet but Carolina Kinder Development constantly made us feel like we were doing the wrong thing and kept mongering fear about how his head shape wouldn't correct after 6 months of age. Sorry to say but for a while they made me feel like a horrible mom who didn't care about her baby's head shape. I'm just glad I decided to get a second and third opinion from orthotic places that actually used computerized imaging and an open mind and didn't treat us like customers shopping for a cranial band and instead worked with us to avoid the same. My son is now 20 months old and there is no problem with his head shape. I'm just glad we didn't fall for this scam and pay them $800 to put a helmet on our baby for no reason.

Our family has had an excellent experience with Child & Family Development (Park Road, Charlotte)…read more Miss Melinda, speech therapist, is calm, skilled, and genuinely attentive--she meets kids where they are and makes sessions feel safe and productive. Communication has been clear, scheduling has been manageable, and the overall environment is supportive. Highly recommend. We've also seen Miss Eleanor, OT, and she was wonderful as well: thoughtful, encouraging, and professional. The front office and overall practice have been organized, and we've felt supported throughout the process. I'd recommend this clinic to any parent looking for a strong pediatric therapy team.
