I had a great therapist prior helping me with that, but due to health reasons she had to retire. I floundered for quite a while and figured it was time to find a therapist again to coach me out of my rut. I was especially interested in someone that was trained in EMDR since that was something I hadn't tried. (Trust me, I've tried a lot). I talked to friends and doctors looking for a "great" therapist. I talked to many therapists on the phone and tried one for a few weeks and realized there definitely wasn't a connection. Another trusted doctor gave me a referral to a therapist that she knew was good but it turned out her practice was full at the time. She referred me to Kelly who she also held in high regard. After talking to Kelly on the phone for 10 minutes I had a good feeling and made a face to face appointment. (I personally prefer and appreciate she still does office visits.) My intuition was correct. Kelly is smart, caring, empathetic, and an extremely skilled therapist. I am very impressed how well she listens and remembers what we talked about weeks and months ago. (Not all therapists are good at that). She has many techniques she draws upon and is also good at helping me do the work and hold myself accountable in a very caring and nice way. I really don't understand how EMDR works and it seems somewhat strange but it actually does reduce and disconnect some very old and recent traumas. I don't care about the mechanics, it's working. I've been with her about 6 months now and I'm encouraged how things are heading in the right direction for me. I feel very grateful that I found her. She is one of the "great" ones!

The past few years Capalina has improved immensely! The turn over rate has decreased significantly! They have started offering more help. Two of the counselors started a new group that is offered once a month in hopes of making it available once a week. The first group was last week and I loved it! Everyone walked out of the group really positive and looking forward to the next one. Nancy and Daniel did a FANTASTIC job running the group. They picked a subject that had the patients wanting to be a part of the group. No one was left out or dominated the group. I am so glad that Capalina has started offering more help!! Kudos to Nancy and Daniel for leading an amazing group. I am really looking forward to the next one!! Thank you Capalina!! Brandi

Who knows. Personally, I'd rather admit to going to therapy then to McDonald's - and I know McDonald's has a lot of damn Yelp reviews. (Also, I'll let you guys in on a little secret: All McDonald's are the same - stop reviewing them.) But I digress. I will begin by saying that she is an absolute gem - she's both a professional and just a genuinely kind person. She makes you feel as though you are talking to a very intelligent, judgement-free friend who can guide you through life's rough waters. I started seeing Amy when I was having some anxiety and was hoping to work through some experiences that I'd gone through in past relationships. I have been seeing her on and off for about 6 months and have really benefited from the invaluable tools she's given me to deal with life, relationships and general anxiety. I've also done EMDR with her (Google it) and felt that it was beneficial. Going to talk with Amy has been a great gift I've given myself. (Think of it like a sports massage for your brain....kinda sounds awesome now, huh?) If you're looking to talk to a phenomenal therapist, work through some of the things that weigh you down (and get back out there being the Babe Ruth of McDonald's reviews that you are) then I HIGHLY recommend Amy. I truly cannot say enough good things about her & the services she provides. She's amazing!

After she provided me with a comprehensive assessment of my son's situation, we discussed my goals and how best to achieve them. Together, we created an individualized sleep plan that worked with our family's daily schedule. She was there to help me understand and solve every bump we came across. She empowered me to coach my son to independently go to sleep and stay asleep. She provided extensive guidance and support for as long as I needed it. She has an incredible ability to help you figure out where certain feelings, emotions, and patterns are coming from and gently get to things that may be buried much deeper than you realize. She has helped me work through past traumas and issues that I didn't even know I was still carrying. I've learned so much about myself through the process and have been able to work through things that were affecting me without me even realizing it. She is warm, compassionate, intuitive, and truly amazing at what she does. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who is considering hypnotherapy or simply wants to better understand themselves and work through things that may be holding them back.

I very rarely write reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience so others can do…read moretheir own research and make an informed decision. I purchased a three-session hypnotherapy package for $780. During our first appointment, we discussed what was currently happening in my life, including the fact that I had recently sold my house. During that first session, Nikki also strongly encouraged me to purchase her book. I ended up buying it for $20 even though I almost never purchase physical books and use Audible instead. The book itself is not the main issue for me, but in hindsight it contributed to my overall discomfort with how frequently additional purchases and services seemed to come up. My primary concern occurred during my second session. While I was still under hypnosis, Nikki discussed the possibility of my daughter seeing her as well. She told me my daughter and I could share a package and went through different package options and prices with me, including one that was approximately $2,500. I am completely certain I was still under hypnosis during this conversation. I distinctly remember Nikki counting me back out afterward, and I remember the end of the appointment feeling rushed because we had gone over time. This was not a conversation that happened after the hypnosis portion of the session had ended. At the time, I did not fully process how uncomfortable the situation made me. The following day, I told my regular therapist exactly what had happened. That conversation caused me to take a much closer look at the experience and recognize how uncomfortable I felt about financial decisions and additional services being discussed while I was under hypnosis. I later brought my concerns directly to Nikki. She disagreed with my recollection of what occurred. I explained why the experience had affected my trust and why I no longer felt comfortable continuing. I asked Nikki for a full refund of the $780 package because I did not feel the sessions had helped me and, in fact, I was left feeling worse than I did before seeing her. She refused to provide a full refund. What was especially upsetting to me was that she would not refund me for the second session either, despite that being the session in which, according to my recollection, time while I was under hypnosis was used to discuss additional packages, pricing, and potentially bringing my daughter in as a client. I was only refunded for the unused final session. What has been most upsetting is that I sought hypnotherapy because I genuinely wanted help. Instead, I am now left feeling that I wasted my time and money, with additional trust issues that I am having to work through with my regular therapist, and more than $400 that I will never get back. There are many practitioners available, so please do your research and be very clear about boundaries, financial conversations, and what you are comfortable agreeing to before beginning hypnotherapy. Based on my personal experience, I would simply say: beware, ask questions, and trust your instincts if something does not feel right. I truly wish my experience had been different. I am sharing this because I believe people should have as much information as possible before deciding who they trust with something as vulnerable as hypnotherapy.
