It's a large thatched building with several areas inside, including a small bar, a larger bar, a restaurant and a small room with sofas and chairs. Outside, there are some tables and a terrace. The whole mackerel (two) cooked in lime and garlic served with a salad and fresh bread was very good (£10.50). The gammon steak (£10.95) was more disappointing. It tasted OK, but was thin and didn't look as though it would have been 10oz uncooked. The chips were oversalted. The menu mentioned only the gammon and chips. When asked, we were told it include "garnish" - this turned out to include an (unwanted) pineapple ring, a few leaves and a little sundried tomato. The wine (Sauvignon Blamc and Riesling was reasonable for the price and they serve a good pint of Tribute. Overall, we will probably visit again when in the area, but it won't be top of our list.

The Smugglers Den Inn is a 16th century thatched inn with family, beer garden, childrens play area and ample parking. The beer garden is where we like to crash and relax. While the kids play on the apparatus we chill with a ool drink in the sun and order from the menu full of lovely food and they always have plenty of specials on the board all made using the freshest local ingredients. It is situated in a little village called Trebellan, near Cubert, less than than 15 minutes from Newquay. You approach down a steep, high sided road which is typically Cornish and the pub is right before you and very welcoming. They have regular live entertainment and also have an annual Real Ale and Pie Festival which is is it's 9th year. It's definitely worth pulling off the beaten track and seeking it out for a refreshing treat.

We sat outside on their patio area, even in December. My son ordered their regular sized burger which incidentally was massive, which comes with a side of chunky chips. It was a really good burger.
