We love our #CAAWS dog. I have read some reviews here that are negative. I will share my…read moreexperience. We have had our dog for about 5 years now. This dog , who CAAWS actually rescued from a kill shelter, was a shy, slightly reticent dog. Sabra ,who is a school teacher and a volunteer at CAAWS, helped me to choose " Austin" ( their name). During this same time, I was tending to my Mom( she has since passed on ) and was helping my family in Virginia. Keep in mind , CAAWS does have a screening process, and for a very good reason. These animals, at least many, have not had " happy" lives, and some are recovering from abuse or neglect . They want to make sure that you will be a loving and responsible pet owner. I am fortunate that our son helps to take care of our dog if and when we must leave town. Owning a pet is a responsibility, and a healthy dog needs more than food , water and trips to the vet ... they need love , tenderness, regular exercise and to insure that CAAWS dogs are matched to a suitable owner, yes, they are very careful with whom they place these deserving pets. Make room in your home and heart for a life time of unconditional love. I know that there are many people who love dogs as much as I do. Our dog did require some dental work , and because of this, we now are very careful about how we care for his remaining teeth . We have friends who have become volunteers there, and I know that the adoption process may seem " detailed"... but CAAWS loves to see their pets find a fur ever home. I highly recommend going to meet these deserving pets. Adoptions can be arranged to suit your schedule. In our case, we met our dog, filled out the necessary paperwork and had a two week trip. When we came home, we were able to adopt our dog... he is a very lovable canine, and having him in our life also enriched us in many ways. He was with us when we had to be rescued from the August 2016 flood... and has been a joy through the many storms since then. When we needed to move into an apartment in 2016, he was also a joy, and his personality is friendly and thankfully, he isn't into barking unnecessarily. I highly recommend CAAWS, their caring volunteers, their fees are kept low... and all of their animals ( dogs, cats) love being adopted. Sabra, and other volunteers, do a great job. We love " Chase", who used to be " Austin"... thank you to all #CAAWSvolunteers #CAAWS has a Facebook page... thank you!

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Goss and his staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital. They…read moreare very professional and extremely caring. We had 2 dogs that they cared for over several years. Our big dog developed a cancerous lesion on his face about a year ago. We watched it very closely, but it just got to be huge. He was 19 years old, and had lived a very nice life. When it got to the point that he couldn't eat without bleeding, we decided to end his misery. They worked around our work schedules and let us grieve for a very long time in the room with him. Six months later our other dog was vomiting a lot and started to get lethargic. We initially thought it was because we were traveling a lot and boarding him (along with the fact that he was sad too after losing his brother). Since he was not getting better, we took him in to get to the root of the problem. Dr. Goss did exploratory surgery and found what he thought was stomach cancer. Dr. Goss was very patient with him. He spent a week in ICU. Dr Goss checked on him twice each night after hours and called us every day with updates. When the test results came back and it was indeed stomach cancer, we were devastated. Our pup came home for 2 days, but he was just miserable. We decided to end his misery too. Once again, the staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital worked with us and our schedule to find the right time to put him to sleep. Throughout the entire ordeal, Dr. Goss called us daily. He was so sympathetic and offered such great bedside manner when we were just so sad. Our family is so very appreciative for all the time, thoughts and prayers the staff gave us throughout this awful time. Our family has only had 3 dogs. Our first lived 16 years, then these 2 lived 19 and 12 years. Dogs become such part of your family. I'm proud to say that these 2 pups had the VERY BEST CARE in the Baton Rouge area! I would strongly recommend Dr. Goss and his staff to anyone looking for a veterinarian!!

I went to this clinic with my newly adopted dog, who I later found out was very sick. When I first…read morespoke with the veterinarian, he seemed polite. But after speaking with the adoption agency, he came back into the room with a completely different attitude. He accused me of being a liar and a manipulator and even told me that he could care less about my medical condition. As someone who lives with spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, and multiple surgeries with rods in my neck and leg, I found this deeply offensive and cruel. I was simply trying to explain the difficulties I face as a disabled person who was not informed about the dog's medical issues before adopting. I was there to seek help for an animal in need, and instead I was belittled, humiliated, and treated with complete disrespect. No professional should speak to clients this way. I left the office in tears, and my family was appalled at how unprofessional, cold, and downright rude this veterinarian was. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone who expects compassion, respect, or basic decency.
