Worth the trip to go out of your way to eat here. Its about 18 minutes north of Valladolid, and its gonna be better than any meat you could have in Valladolid. Supposedly there's 17 other shops that serve smoked meat, but this is the most known. Walking in at 1:30pm on a Wednesday, I was surprised no one was there. I was initially concerned on whether this place was going to be filled with smoke or extra humid, but this is not the case. It felt more like an open office more than anything. I should state that Im from Texas, and that in no way that the meat here is going to resemble what you would find in a BBQ joint. The only resemblance is that the meat is smoked. They don't season, prepare, or use the same cuts as a Texas BBQ joint.
They have a family platter that's for 6 people. Since I only had a table for 3, the waitress recommended I order a platter for 3 (platter pequeno). I'm glad I did because even for three people we couldn't finish it. They give you lots of pork loin, which is delicious, but the longaniza is the crown jewel of this place. Whether it's the red or black sausage, both were mouthwatering good. The salsa, lime, and pico de gallo on the table enhance everything. I love the cheese they offer as well, which is salty, stringy when warm, and also absorbs a good amount of smoke.
I was able to try "Valladolid sausage" from other restaurants in the Yucatan, but I can confidently say that getting smoked meat right in Temozon is way better. Don't expect a grand interior or magical setting, but the smoked meat itself is read more
