I was referred to Carmen through family and had good recommendations for her. On our first meeting I brought some pictures to show her and although she was very nice, it was very clear that we weren't on the same page. The colors for my wedding were light blue, grey, and white. So to make it simple I only wanted blue and white flowers with green accents. We landed on baby's breath and hydrangeas. After showing her pictures of examples she took them VERY literally. Every picture I showed her, if they had a peach flower in the arrangement she would write down peach flower. I had to correct her that it was simply the style of the arrangement I liked not every single type of flower in the picture. It was very frustrating. Since we were running out of time and our wedding date was approaching we decided to still go with her. She sent an invoice with everything we had discussed and although I had to make some corrections to the amounts of corsages, center pieces, and boutonnières I felt pretty comfortable since my flowers (to my knowledge) seemed simple. On the wedding day Carmen showed up with all the arrangements and when I saw my wedding bouquet it had peach flowers while all the other bridesmaids bouquets, center pieces, and boutonnières were all baby's breath and hydrangeas. After calling Carmen to let her know they were supposed to be blue flowers she came back only to argue with me that the type of flower I wanted doesn't come in blue and that is what I wanted! Instead of saying ok let me fix it, she stood in the hallway of the bathroom and kept trying to argue with me 20 minutes before I was supposed to walk down the isle. Finally one of my bridesmaids just asked if there was anyway she could fix it. She reluctantly took my bouquet and switched the flowers. Then when I was handed the bouquet to start walking down I notice that the stems were on a UGLY weird platter that weighed 10lbs. We had discussed that I wanted the stems to be wrapped in ivory ribbon with my grandmas locket around it but had no time to fix it. Unfortunately this was another miscommunication on Carmen because she emailed me the day before the wedding and asked if I wanted a natural gather style to my bouquet which I said yes. I was unaware that this would change how you would wrap the stems and I was left with an incredible awkward, ugly, and hard to hold bouquet. To top the night off my throw bouquet was all peach flowers which is just something I have to laugh about now. My husbands boutonnière was also supposed to be a little different from the groomsmen and it was exactly the same and she forgot one of the groomsmen boutonnières and had to make one on the spot. The corsages that were for the mothers and grandmothers were supposed to be around their wrists but for some reason they were pinned to their chest. I didn't have a chance to look at the fathers/grandfathers but I'm sure that all of them were wrong too. Please save yourself the time, energy, and frustration of trying to work with Carmen. She is a nice lady but this is a business and she would rather argue and deny blame then fix the problem at hand. She was extremely hard to communicate with and she didn't deliver what I wanted and what we discussed which was very disappointing. read more
