It wasn't quite the right fit, so we passed, however, hours later he found the one he wanted and called back to see if he could test drive it. The man he spoke to said they had no other appointments open to test drive / buy a car for the evening (it was 7PM), but he did offer an appointment the next morning at 10:30. He accepted and went down, fell in love and purchased. The no haggle made it easy. We already had financing in place from USAA, so he was in and out in a little under 3 hours. If you know what you want & you're willing to pay the prices it's an easy spot to buy a car. You do not keep the bow, tho. read more

I have to say that this was probably the best new ( to me) car buying experience that I have ever had. My wife and I actually purchased two vehicles from Carmax West Sahara in the last two weeks. A 2020 Hyundai Palisades ( call my wife which she absolutely loves more than anything in the world including myself lol) and then my absolute dream vehicle, 2023 Cadillac XT 5 sport. This vehicle had to be brought in from Austin Texas. It arrived a week sooner than they predicted so that was wonderful. Our sales person for both deals was Matt Traylor and his young apprentice, Cole. They were simply wonderful. Cannot speak highly enough of the two of them. It was wonderful dealing with them and they really seem to care about our vehicles and us. I had never purchased vehicles in that manner before where it's very much like a cafeteria / you go in and you get what you want and you get out. I very much enjoyed the no "haggling bullshit". The price is the price. You either like it or you don't. But these two made it very enjoyable and we got the absolute vehicles we love. While the price may be just a smidge higher than you could probably find on Facebook marketplace - you likely aren't going to get stabbed in the kidney or held up at gun point buying from CarMax. These guys offer a 30 day full warranty and even a 10 day no question asked for refund. Also the vehicles were absolutely immaculate, had a full tank of gas and had 120 point inspection. A $699 "document fee" is a shameless money-grab. In Nevada it may be legal, but it's a pure profit add-on, like parking and resort "fees" on the Strip. When pricing is already at the top of the retail range, separating out a nearly $700 "paperwork" fee that feels less like transparency and more like sheer greed. If it's part of doing business, build it into the advertised price! The payment process was surprisingly antiquated and I go back to Gaudin Ford on Boulder Highway in 1967. No credit cards. No seamless online transfer option. For a national retailer in 2026, it felt 1990's. I half-expected to be asked for a fax number. I also asked whether there was any customer loyalty recognition after five transactions in ten years. The answer: "Thank you." That's not loyalty appreciation. The sales person was great, but CarMax built its brand on simplicity, honest-dealing and transparency. This experience didn't reflect that standard. It will be hard to comeback to Carmax again. We were looking to sell a car today. Thus, we drove separately. I arrived first, and was standing outside under a "no-parking" staging area with some shade, as it was 100F outside. Wow, I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews! Maybe we just lucked out, but I had a relatively good experience, minus the first part of the process. I think their computer system needs work, because I talked to no less than five people over two days who all wanted the same information I'd already given, over and over. By the time we were approved, I was so exhausted over the thing that I was just like, "Yeah, okay." Anyway, after that, my perspective changed once we dealt with the employees at the facility. They were really nice, and though we did have to wait for a while, it was quick and efficient once they got to us. That being said, the reason I'm rating the place high is because of the service department and the people who helped us there. They sold me a faulty car. 3 days after purchase, all the check engine, warning malfunctions lights came on. Brought it in for those issues to be repaired along with cosmetic repairs. 30 days of them having it, they fixed the wrong bumper. Add another week to get that fixed. We are 2 months in and the lights are still flickering MALFUNCTION. Basically told to keep driving it until it happens again this is now a SAFETY ISSUE! Just want to start off by saying this review rating isn't reflective of Kalen, the incredible young man than helped me and my husband find my new car, and is more reflective of the awful service I just received at the service department. I'll start the bad because I like to end with good. We bought the car and there was a crack in the windshield which we pointed out to Kalen and he mentioned very kindly that they could get that fixed for us free of charge. They called me at a later date and I did make the appointment for what was this morning. I will say, I was running late, for personal issues I don't think I need to fully disclose to a car service place. But I called on my way there and mentioned I was going to be late. The woman on the line was very nice and said okay we do have a grace period and I was like okay I'll hopefully be there by then. And she said okay see you soon! I arrived 5 minutes after the grace period and walked in and a nice woman did help me. She called for the woman who I was supposed to go to and the woman just goes "she needs to reschedule." SO AWKWARD! I was standing right there. Whoever that woman was, I seriously didn't appreciate that. She could have walked over and addressed it with me, but how childish and rude to just yell it out and not "deal" with me and let your coworker do that. Messed up. The woman that was helping me mentioned to me that the guy that does windshields is contracted out and only comes Thursdays, and since I was his only appointment and wasn't there right on time, he left. To which I replied, I literally called and told you guys I was running late. She asked who I spoke to and just like all of this, I don't ever ask peoples names so I didn't think anything of it. I wish the woman on the phone would have told me to reschedule so I didn't waste time driving all the way down there. It's 40 minutes from my house. Better yet, I wish they would have told the damn windshield guy to not leave yet because I was on my way. How would I know he's contracted out? How would I know I'm his only appointment? Honestly, ridiculous. The woman helping me was very nice though and trying to calm me down. She did offer to have me go to the Centennial location but that's even further from my house. I do feel bad I was rude with her, but that other woman who didn't help and just said "she needs to reschedule" like I wasn't there.... Most ridiculous customer service ever. I've literally never been more disappointed in an experience and felt so disrespected. I'm not invisible, lady. Honestly, I've missed grace periods before but if I call, I'm always told its okay drive safe. And I've NEVER been told to reschedule when I get there. If I could give the service department a zero I would. I bought my car from the West Sahara location on 4/29/26. After drving it around for a week started noticing the steering wheel pullnig to the right, a high pitch squeal after making normal right turns and excelerating to normal speed limit, & a very fowl odor coming from the vents. Took it back. After all, they have a policy right? Find anything wrong in 30 days and they will fix it. Right? Wrong, all they focused on was an alignment which they claim to have done. Got the paperwork stating so. They claim they could not duplicate any of the other before mentioned issues. As soon as I drove it out of their parking lot, steering veering to the right on a straight road, high pitch squeel while excelerating after making a normal right turn and of course the smell which is now making me nauseated everytime I smell it. SAME ISSUES!!! So, what would any person do, take it back to get the issues fixed. This time they claimed alignment was done, filters changed and they could not duplicate the high piched sound again. Funny thing with that is the Service Manager acutally took a ride with my fiance and was able to hear said problems and yet, yep you guessed it!! I got the same answer. "We can't duplicate it." They keep my car for another week claiming to be working on the same issues, only for me to end up take it back because while driving my car, it veered so far to the right while my hands were on the steering wheel, problem waiting to happen. Was not happy at all because apparently they claim it couldn't be duplicated. At this point I am ready to cry and scream. Because why?? At this point we have visitation rights because every other week I am taking the car back for the same said problems with no resolution. If you say the problems are fixed or can't be duplicated, then why are they still happenling that you claim you cannot duplicate. Because today after they had my car for another week, I go pick up my car. Already upset due to the handling of this situation this whole time only to get my car back and although the smell is not as noticable, you can still smell it. I am not overly nauseated but it still persist. I make my first right turn and yep, high pitched squeal they could not duplicate right out of the parking lot and the steering is still veering to the right on a straight road when my hands are or are not on the wheel but your technitions cannot duplicate any of that. Not to mention my fienace who is on my insurance and approved to drive any vehivcle i have goes to pick up my car at 3:30 only for them to not give him my car, they call me at 4pm to tell me my car is ready and the alignment is done and how??? How in thirty minutes was an alignment done that you claim was completed at 4pm today, when my fiance saw my car sitting in the parking lot. Please make it make since!!! GEt my car back covered in dust as if it had just been sitting untouched. Bought a Mercedes from them with extended warranty to help cover our butts. These company is a joke. They have been denying a suspension issue for two years. Now it's bad enough, they say here's a warranty card, bring the car to Mercedes. Mercedes finds the problem and Carmax is only reimbursing 20% of the cost because their warranty doesn't actually include OEM parts, and they don't cover Mercedes full labor rates either. So this long time known issue wasn't repaired when we reported it during the first 6 months; carmax waited until it fully broke, and their warranty barely covers the sales tax.
