Extremely disappointing experience with CarMax (Hulen, Fort Worth), and I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing from this location. I purchased a 2021 Mercedes GLE with under 45,000 miles, expecting a reasonable level of reliability. Within weeks, the AC system began failing. Since then, I've returned multiple times (August, October, and now March) for the same issue--only to now be told the compressor needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,900. What's most frustrating is not just the ongoing issue, but the way it has been handled. The front desk staff and service team were dismissive, unhelpful, and at times openly argumentative. The interactions felt unnecessarily catty and unprofessional, with an underlying tone that I should simply expect repeated failures on a vehicle at this price point and mileage. While the diagnostic fee was waived, that does not address the larger concern that this issue appears to have existed from the time of purchase and was never properly resolved despite multiple visits. I understand that used vehicles can require maintenance. However, repeated failures of the same system on a well-maintained, under-45,000-mile luxury vehicle--and the lack of professionalism in addressing it--is unacceptable. This matter has now been escalated to corporate. I hope for a fair resolution, but in the meantime, buyers should proceed with caution and ask detailed questions about inspection quality, repair history, and accountability after the sale. read more

This dealership should be ashamed of itself. How do you sell a car to an elderly person who has no income, no credit, and an 18 year old with them, then send them out the door with a 17 percent interest rate and a $1,200 monthly payment? At no point did anyone stop and think, "This does not seem right." Instead, you allowed someone in a vulnerable situation to sign an outrageous deal that they clearly cannot afford. This is exactly the type of behavior that gives car dealerships a bad reputation. Taking advantage of an elderly person with no financial stability is not good business. It is predatory. You should seriously reconsider how your sales team operates and who you choose to "approve" for financing. Situations like this should raise red flags, not close deals. read more

This is the WORST PLACE TO GET A CAR! They will scam you and give you a credit card APR. they don't help people, they hurt people and take all your money and laugh. I advised everyone who thinks they can get a car here you will be shipped unless you're credit is above 800. read more

This place had the vibe of a Billy Bob Tote-The-Note used car lot! I paid to have a vehicle sent here from a CarMax in San Antionio. First, the saleswoman was extremely inexperienced and knew absolutely nothing about cars. Second, took a test drive and detected a multitude of problems, ranging from the vehicle pulling right indicating it needed an alignment, to an odor of antifreeze in the cabin, dirty seats, and damaged windshield wipers and front bumper. Third, had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle, and found many more problems. Obviously, there was no 120-point inspection performed on this car!!! Sent the inspection to the sales manager and all he did was make a bunch of excuses, then repeatedly called to hassle me to come in. The ads about inspecting their cars are lies, and their vehicles are OVERPRICED! BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Came in for a test drive that I had an appointment for and the salesman (Jake) kept forgetting things to put in the car. Big red flags leading up to the appointment. He asked me to sign financing agreements to "make things faster". Leading up to the appointment they took up to a week to get it ready by servicing the AC even though their pre inspection stated everything was good. I have never done business with them before but will never even consider after this experience. read more

Bad management- ooor customer service. This dealership caters to those who are desperate to buy a car. They low balled me so badly on my trade, asking me to sell my car to them for 10k less than book trade value, and over charging by 7k on the car I wanted. I would have paid their asking price had they not been so bad on the trade. I showed written offers from other dealers for 10k more and they still sent me several text messages after leaving trying to get me to buy the car and make an appointment. Avoid this dealership and go elsewhere. Their sales guy was awesome but completely constrained by their managers bad decision. No wonder why Carmax is failing as a business. read more

Service is very best of best. Right from the time you enter, you can witness cleanliness and great customer service. If you are there for appraisal or upgrade, they have you covered. Me and my mom went to check the cost of selling our Toyota camry 2013 modal. They thoroughly inspected the car by not touching it but instructing us to open and close all the sections like mirrors down, engine check, trunk and paint inspection. After inspecting it, they made us wait in the lounge area to get us the offer. It was not long wait when we got reasonable price for our car. We didn't choose the option to trade in so can't comment on that but overall the service was amazing and the service and sales people were nice to talk to. read more

Everything from the car selection, test driving the car, the finance application, and completing the final paperwork was so much better than "old school" dealerships. I've been buying cars for 30 years and I never want to set foot on another lot or talk to another car salesman. But sometimes you must. First you have to go inside to get to the parking lot to see the cars. It was like 100 outside so by the tine I walked all the way around I was sweating and no longer wanted to look at a car. I dont think making people walk around the entire building is the best way to sell a car. Sometimes we just want to see what you have real quick and get going. Salesman said he would come out to help in a fee minutes but I literally walked down and back up so that did no good. I wont be going there when I buy my next Lexus for sure. Wife bought her car last year, 2023. Feb 2024 engine light comes on. Code signals O2 sensor. Mechanic has it no more than an hour and calls me to ask where did we take the car for service before hand. We bought it from CarMax with a clean bill of health and 30k miles. We never took it for service anywhere. Mechanics words "it's like they used JB-Weld for weld these sensors in". $4k quote for repair. CarMax is crooked. Hands down. They should have caught this if they truly do detailed inspections. read more

Bought a Cadillac a month ago and the very next day found these issues: Tire flat, cracked wheel, no spare Transmission issues Cracked windshield Headlight out Stained headliner So we got a loaner and found fingernails in the cup holder. Drove the loaner until the service light came on. Traded the loaner and an hour later it went crazy and broke down on me. My advisor asked me to drive it back to them. The car was not drivable!! Then told me to set up a tow service, like it was my problem. So ready to be done with Carmax. read more

Zero stars. My son has a paid off truck that they bid him 16 k fir two days ago. We went in to drive a car that was on the line with no sticker fir hold it anything. First after we looked over the car he said it was there. Then he said there were a few people looking at it so we couldn't drive it. I said we had cash in hand and if he liked the drive we wanted the car. He said sorry no. That's an utterly lazy, pre judging salesman. I then called to speak with someone and was on hold for an hour and 48 minutes. Carmax has lost my family, 14 of us for good. I got the car online it was shipped from the Irving location to the hulen location in ft worth ..I came and bought it then took it to a buddy's to help me look it over .. it is totally missing the ERG valve there was 4 inches of water in the trunk because there's a leak the USB connection doesn't work in the AC barely blew cold...and the tire pressures where all different ! It's like nobody even checked it out before they let me drive off!!! Thank god they give u 30 days to exchange for a full refund! That's the only good thing about car max ! I even went to the tax office to see if I could get a replacement paper tag but they want to charge me, plus the vehicle is still technically registered under someone else. CarMax promised that if I were to get pulled over I would be okay. We test drive my reserved vehicle, a Nissan Versa and I loved it instantly. It had room for my tall husband, the car seat, and the groceries! Downpayment was not bad at ALL. They were very reasonable on the price and very easy to contact if I had any issues or questions. Our CarMax review: My wife and I began a hurried search for a used vehicle at a CarMax Store in Fort Worth one evening recently. A couple of hours later, we drove our "new" car home to Granbury. Before daylight the next morning, my wife drove the car to Galveston where she was scheduled to depart on a cruise with some girlfriends. From Galveston she called and began to vent, "This car," she said, "is purple." Unfortunately, under the lights at the dealership, the car appeared to be a dark red, which was one of the three colors that were acceptable to her. Our sales contract had given us 5 days to return the car, no questions asked, but she wasn't scheduled to return for 12 days, so I told her there wasn't much I could do; we'd just have to look into having it painted after she returned. Upon returning 12 days later, she begged me to call the dealership and ask if we could exchange the car. I was embarrassed to do so, so she called the salesperson. Brian Moore, the gentleman who sold us the car, told her that it was already ours as the paperwork had been submitted to the DMV. However, he said, we could sell the car back to CarMax, but there would likely be some cost in doing so. We took the car back, and after evaluating it they decided that, quite shockingly, it was worth more than we paid for it. Then Brian began looking online for a silver car with dark leather interior which was our original first choice. He found a car in Oklahoma and we paid $199 to have it brought to Fort Worth to check it out. The sticker price on this car was $1000 less than the purple one, same year, with similar mileage and equipment. We saved money in the transaction, and had, had the purple car for 12 days as if it were a free rental. We'd have been happy as clams if we could have traded the cars even. I'm not suggesting that you'll have similar good fortune but, except for our choosing the wrong car in the dark, this was the best car purchasing experience of my life. In this age of helping one another..CARMAX sucks.. they said they would provide me transportation to/from their location to look at vehicles..never happened..I ending up wasting $50 on Lyft rides..once I got there..the salesman was very rude..he wouldn't answer my questions or ignored them altogether..I was surprised..they only had a few vehicles to look at..pricing way too high for anyone on a budget..no Privacy to discuss your business..I had to ask for a water..they didn't even offer me one..they do not like disabled military veterans..wouldn't help with anything..the salesman said they don't haggle with pricing..the prices on vehicles was at the highest end of Consumer Reports pricing..what a joke! It would help alot if they would at least reimburse me for what I spent..you should have seen all the people in service dept waiting on their cars to be fixed..don't waste your hard earned money here..I did my homework..they are not worth it! read more

I will always be a CarMax customer. I have now gotten 3 cars with them, and they always take crazy amazing care of me. Every car buying experience has been 100% straightforward and everyone in customer care is so knowledgeable. For the first time ever, I've needed maintenance on my car about a month and a half after I got it. Just a light out, no biggie. Within 90 days or so many miles (can't remember how many exactly) they do all repairs free of charge. Get this though-not only have they replaced my light in *30 minutes* (they had the beam in stock, to my surprise), they also buffed out a small scrape on the side of my car (someone scraped me in a parking lot and didn't leave a note-ugh!). My car, good as new, in 45 minutes. And they were packed back to back, y'all. They didn't have me scheduled out for the buffing, but they made it happen. Jacob took care of my light, and Jenny got me scheduled in and set up when I arrived, and I'm so grateful to them.
