For many moons my friends and I have lusted after the bingo dream... Oh, to feel the buzz of those numbers being called out in monotone barely giving you time to find them in your card. Oh, to have the opportunity to use those circle bingo pens sportingly...
My friend finally lived the dream one birthday, and coaxed us all down to this Bingo Hall. The place is MASSIVE. It feels like an airy warehouse more than a gambling establishment. We got heavy funny looks from the regulars, and many comments about our age and appearence being shouted out from nearby four seater booths. However, this treatment stopped after I asked for help for me, a bingo virgin, from a lady sharing our table, and we were immediately welcomed into the fold. Even being celebrated when I then won on my first card! Oh, the excitement!
The community feel of the place is strong, with the number callers talking often directly to folk in the audience, and it even has an in house bar and take-away, in case you fancy a gin and tonic and chips.
Okay, so it lacks class... but if you're looking to see some real Glasgow in the West End, or looking for cheap thrills, you'll find them both here. Def worth a visit. read more
