Never thought I would see the day I was writing a review on the Mecca Bingo at the Quay...but here we are, haha!
I'm not ashamed to admit it (or maybe a little) but I don't mind the odd bingo night with my friends! Long gone are the days of the blue rinse brigade calling the shots in these clubs;it's definitely appealing to a younger audience and I think this club reflects that. Could I go constantly? Nope, I'd be bored to death. But once a month catching up with friends, I have no problem with. I'll let you know if we ever win anything decent..haha!
This hall is large and holds a lot of people. The Q Bar is upstairs which is a nice area to sit, have a drink (they don't have the best cocktail menu but all the alcoholic drinks are well priced) and just chat whilst you play. You can also order food in the hall (again, reasonably priced) and I can confirm that it's not half bad...not the best meal you'll ever have but on par with Wetherspoons.
So yeah...you play bingo (shock horror!). Actually, the games don't run on that long and there are a lot of intervals which gives my friend and I time to catch up. We go for the social aspect and it works well for a mid week catch up.
There are plenty of toilets and everything is clean/tidy. The staff are pretty nice too and happy to help where they can. They try telling the odd joke...and fail miserably.
Overall, it's a nice evening out and we always have a giggle! read more
