What could have been an overwhelmingly sorrowful visit was softened immeasurably by the extraordinary kindness and attentive care from the staff, turning a place of mere shelter into a true haven of compassion. We stayed for several days, and from the moment we arrived, the warmth we received made all the difference in navigating our grief. Special recognition goes to Evelyn and Nicholos at the front desk, and Maria in the breakfast area who helped us find our footing during this unbelievably difficult time. The housekeeping team, too, provided impeccable service with a personal touch. Everyone at this Sheraton offered us the highest level of skillful and genuine hospitality. Their care was a great gift, easing the emotional weight we carried and reminding us of human connection when it was needed most.

Membership is truely open to all, whether you live nearby or not, and dues are affordable ($50 family, more or less for individuals at various levels). It just really needs more people involved. Like, NOW! They host line dancing lessons a couple times per week, and (rarely), other social evnets that are open to the public. Mostly, it's just a large green space and rental hall, these days. I've been to a couple weddings here and a company picnic, and it's really a VERY nice set up. The ballroom has a large dance floor, a stage, small bar, and plenty of room for tables, then there's another "meeting" room with a long bar and more space, either for a buffet, or seperate event. They have a patio and pavilion right outside, plus a baseball diamond. As I understand it, rental rates are VERY competitive, and while it's far from glam, it's fairly well maintained and easy to decorate to your liking. The large patio, covered picnic area, and playground gives it major points above the typical rental hall, in my opinion. Unfortunately, they need new membership and more revenue BAD, or it could be taken over for suburban development. It holds 5 acres of BEAUTIFUL land in a convenient, yet quiet location ( that the City of Plymouth would make more money off of as condos or something), and since it's heyday in the 70s and 80s, the more motivated and social membership seems to have died out, leaving it vacant far more often than it needs to be. They are passively looking for groups interested in coming in to have events there such as ZUMBA, Scrapbooking, classes, etc.. Champagne upon arrival, champagne in our room very attentive staff etc. they do however have complimentary bike rentals which was a very fun surprise, we took a little stroll around, it's great being near so many restaurants walking distance. There was also a shuttle driver so that was a great addition. Our room service however took over 50 minutes to arrive.. we didn't get waters which I feel is a typical thing to provide with room service and my coffee arrived cold. we wanted late check out , they offered an additional hour and if we wanted any longer than that it would be an additional $75. No thank you. I too feel very out of place here in wayzata, so I don't know if it's a town I'd keep on my radar for future stays.

The weekend kicked off with a giant party at the Minnetonka Community Center, not unlike a wedding on its own. There was music and dancing and a catered Nigerian buffet feast. The community center was a pleasant, spacious party venue. There was a side room where the maid of honor ran some logistics, and where several of us got Nigerian head wraps from a woman hired for the occasion. The main event took place in a huge room set up with tables and chairs for about 250 people. There was a dance floor and a solid audio visual set-up. I gave a joint speech with one of my friends, and the staff at the community center was nice enough to print it out for me. I was visiting from out of state, so I'm guessing this community center is more useful to people who aren't me, who live, perhaps, in Minnetonka. That said, I had a great time here. Certainly worth considering for a wedding or other large event.

Paul was recommended to us by a friend - he was responsive, a clear communicator, his contract was simple and justified. He took time to understand us and what our vibe was, took care of all the details, made sure everything flowed perfect throughout the evening. We got married at The Whim, and he had great advice on where to place speakers during cocktail hour, the dance floor, etc so that everyone could hear well throughout the night. He honored our playlists we provided for cocktail hour and the dance party while still adding his own flair. He read the dance floor and kept it packed ALL NIGHT. The Sessions photo booth was perfect for what we were looking for and we loved being able to look through them all the next day! You MUST use DJ Sticky for your wedding, you will be in the best hands!!
