A combo of seeing the kids watching chicks hatch to the respectful elder classpeople holding doors and acting like I would hope my child to act, we jumped in. There has been a wonderful, eased, growing experience being embraced with support for our children's achievements- from good grades to sitting on a chair or circle for the entire class, we have felt informed and guided with love and understanding along the way. With 'middle aged' kids now, we jump into opportunities to support the students, teachers, staff, parish, sports program, food pantry, etc or what easy few minutes is always met with a thankful smile. We feel this community in rides and what's app reminders of sales, of inclusive bday parties and meal trains for families.; community events to private conferences to check in. To each their own on the level of involvement, but stemming from an amazing leader/ principal, this community has taken me from " I cant wait for pick up to be together as a family" to " lets all play at haas, its nice out", and " we should all do coding together" and, most importantly, kids that look forward to going to school and are interested in learning.

There are significant behavioral issues among students that are not being effectively managed. The lack of classroom control creates constant disruptions and takes away from students who are there to learn. This directly impacts academic progress and the overall learning environment. More concerning, a fifth-grade teacher told an entire class that they would not amount to anything, would not get into college, and were not talented. When this was reported to both the school and the network, it was dismissed and brushed aside. This response--or lack thereof--raises serious concerns about accountability and whether issues are intentionally minimized to protect school ratings. Additionally, morning supervision at Wrightwood Park is inadequate. Staff members are frequently disengaged, chatting among themselves rather than actively supervising students, which raises safety concerns. Finally, during my daughter's transfer out of the school, her personal belongings were mishandled. We were given only one notebook and one pencil. Her glasses, pencil case, and multiple school supplies that we personally purchased were missing and never returned. Families deserve transparency, accountability, and a safe, supportive learning environment. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here.

In the bathrooms the kids need soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and Kleenex. The parents have to provide the items for the children. But the staff get paper towel refills 24/7. The school wastes their money on the dumbest things. The kids don't even have a real jump rope, they have to use broken extension cords tied together. I've seen much better at other schools. We hopefully will be transfering schools.

Meaning when you enter Avondale, its still the same school of the 70's and 80's (well for those who came through their doors) but it does have its newer ventures with computers and really nice wall hangings. Avondale is one of those schools that has character and although you may see a teacher or two from way back when, the majority of teachers here now are younger and just really loving to the kids. Not to take away from the teachers before, no not in the least, but the younger teachers seem to be very no nonsense and very direct. If your in the neighborhood, just stop by and let them know you just want to see how the school has changed, or hasn't. From the outside, you can see the newer parts of the school, but the inside still maintains its integrity.

I am an adult who is 40 years old. I know right from wrong. Principal Tennison might have shook every Lane students hands while he was in office, he neglected their needs as far as stress goes. There was no relief, no therapist offered whatsoever. Brian Tennison did not care. Plus, he took away all the parents privileges to volunteer at their Prom. I was devastated at that time. Even though, my youngest daughter was unhappy about me not going to her prom. I would have been very happy without dancing and prom dinner. I rather be in the same ballroom with both my daughters' prom instead of dinner and dancing. We survived without it. I do not know who changed the prom volunteer policy.
