Dear traveler, If you only read one sentence of my review, let it be this: today I had one of the best massages of my life. Kiki and Carlos offer a peaceful oasis five blocks and three floors up off the main drag in the city of Tulum. The rooftop setting with breezy curtains, light city sounds and the smell of essentials created a space for ninety magical minutes. Better yet, you can book the appointment directly through the Yelp app. We randomly met Kiki while eating at Raw Love and she was our server. We mentioned wanting to get a massage and boom she whipped out a card and we realized we had just super randomly connected with the highest rated massage spot in Tulum on Yelp. We set up the ninety minute for $70 USD massage for the next day (see Yelp deal). Note that upon arriving at the house it's somewhat hard to tell that you're at the right spot. A number on the gate would be a helpful addition. In the meantime, it's the mini courtyard with plants and a white iron gate. I had Kiki and my friend was paired with Carlos. They both used a variety of lotions and oils that made every ten minutes of the massage fresh and like an aromatic adventure. I seriously cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this massage was. This was definitely one of the best massages that I have ever had, and for the price it is completely worth it. I got a Mayan Clay Mask massage and my partner got a Swedish massage. For my massage, Carlos walked me through the entire process from beginning to end, instructing me and helping me feel comfortable while he applied a clay mask to my entire body. After I finished showering and taking off the mask, he gave me my massage with their vast array of great smelling essential oils, which made me feel extremely relaxed. If I could give Carlos and Kiki 10 stars I would. We randomly met Kiki at a restaurant in Tulum down by the beach and we LUCKILY asked her about massages. She told us that she and Carlos gave massages out of his house. Kiki was so warm and friendly that we hopped on Yelp right away and saw that Carlos had the most massages and was rated so highly. We quickly reached out to Carlos and scheduled a time for the massage. AND LET ME TELL YOU.... best massage of my life. Scheduling with Carlos was super easy through Yelp and he gave us instructions to get to his house which was in town part of Tulum (this gave us a really interesting walk into some of the less touristy part of Tulum. As long as we stayed aware of our surroundings I had no worries.) Once we got to the house we were taken to Carlos' apartment at the top of the building. The apartment is small but very neat and the porch where the tables were set up was so great. The windows were open and the fresh breeze and street noises coming in lulled me into the deepest relaxation. I am not sure of the exact products that were used but they smelled and felt so fantastic. Carlos used the perfect amount of pressure and his technique was spot on. Their location was fairly easy to get to, just look for "Casa Bambu" sign. They met us at the door and brought us up. My husband and I were planning our honeymoon in Tulum and what honeymoon would be complete without massage?! I am a massage therapist so I am pretty picky about who I want to work on me. That said, I took to trusty ol' Yelp to help and found Carlos who had many great reviews. I reached out to inquire about availability, and received a response within a couple hours. Booking with Carlos was a breeze, we booked 2 90 minute massage with a fruit scrub. A couple days before our appointments he reached out to make sure we knew where to do and let us know he would be waiting out front of his property 10 minutes before the service. As promised he and his colleague Kiki were waiting for us as we arrived. It should be known that the massage space, while very professional, is in his home in a local neighborhood. Personally I found this very charming and thought it added to the experience, but I can imagine some people would be weirded out by it. Oh, and the stairs on the way up are pretty steep, so if you have trouble with stairs come prepared. Waiting for us were two massage tables covered in plastic (for the scrub) in a bright and airy room with lovely tiled floors. Upon entering Carlos and Kiki hand us disposable undergarments to change into for our scrub and gave us some time to change and make ourselves comfortable. The scrub is homemade and all natural... as in honey, shaved coconut and papaya. We received full body scrubs and then where lead to a bathroom to shower. After rinsing off we return (wrapped in provided towels) to freshly made tables ready for massage. Then onto the massage. Like I said I am picky, and I was SO pleasantly surprised. Carlos had great pressure, technique and was thorough while ensuring I was draped properly for privacy. There was this wonderful breeze coming through the windows and we could hear the birds and well as music a neighbor was playing that mingled with the relaxing tunes Carlos was playing. It was glorious. My husband absolutely loved Kiki's work, and we both talked about our experience for days. Tip: if you're not comfortable taking off all your under garments because you must shower, being extra! And a pair of flip flops for the shower too if you feel inclined. Wow! Where do I even start...? First of all Carlos and his colleague Isabel met us outside and welcomed us warmly to their home. As we went up to the third floor we entered the well light spa area; the breeze sweeping through the room made the amazing massage that much better. Carlos and Isabel are experts in their craft and really knew how to apply their knowledge to accommodate both myself and my girlfriend. My wife and I were staying at Be Tulum in the hotel zone, but couldn't stomach paying absurd prices for a massage in that area. We found Carlos through Yelp. I messaged him to book a couples massage, and he diligently found another therapist to work with him that evening. We booked a 90-minute session - 30 minutes for a Mayan clay massage and 60 minutes for a Swedish massage. Carlos' place is in the residential area of Tulum Pueblo, and is in fact in his home. He very kindly was waiting outside for us when we parked, and introduced himself and his apartment. He is very warm, polite, and friendly. He took my wife and I upstairs, explained the massage process, and we got to work. The Mayan clay massage was very fun and definitely helped brighten up and soothe my skin from head to toe. After getting coated in this cooling clay, you take a shower (in a standard residential bathroom), after which the Swedish massage portion begins. The massage itself was very good, although I did have some shoulder pain for a few days after. I can't 100% attribute this to the massage because it may have been due to sleeping poorly and due to lots of swimming in cenotes in the days prior. Carlos' technique was great, with long, repeated strokes and the perfect amount of pressure. Overall, a really wonderful experience. Do understand that it is not a traditional spa with candles and spa chairs and robes. It's a room in his home with two massage beds, soothing music in the background, and a fan keeping you cool. The shower is a residential shower, which is to say it's not luxurious, but gets the job done. One tip is to bring your own flip flops to wear in the shower! The fact that the "spa" isn't luxurious but still gets a 5-star rating is a testament to Carlos' kindness and his excellent technique. read more

What an amazing experience. This was so authentic and pure. Kiki and Carlos provided massages for me and three of my girlfriends on a girls trip and they were super accommodating and kind. The massages themselves were perfect. Pretty sure we all dozed off at one point or another. We got the 90 min massage special at 70 pesos. You can't find prices like this in Tulum. Good stuff! The massages are done in their home so if you're into a jungle setting with lots of frills and the $200+ price tag for a basic massage this isn't for you.
