We've seen a play, musicians, and comedy acts over the last several years. We've never been disappointed in the quality of the performances. The theatre seats are reasonably comfortable and are staggered and placed on a decline from back to the front stage, so it's easy to see, even for short people. The acoustics are good, which makes for a better listening experience than a stadium atmosphere. Volunteers are the main "staff" members and are great!

The auditorium has just over 500 seats, including a 140-seat balcony and accessibility platform. The theatre lounge is fully licensed, offering refreshments and snacks prior to a performance and during intermission. While the building is owned by the City of Courtenay, the theatre has been operated by the Sid Williams Theatre Society, a registered charitable organization, since 2001. A staff of 18 is responsible for the day-to-day running of the theatre, from artistic programming to custodial, from promotions to lighting design.

Friend took me to lunch buffet and the Footloose performance. The buffet was very nice with a number of protein choices, salads, sides and desserts. Everything I tried was tasty. Staff brought your drink orders. When it was close to the curtain call they announced it to the dinners. There was a pianist that entertained us during the meal. So nice to go from our dinner right to our seats. The performance was very entertaining and all the seat were good in this intimate theatre. There was an intermission to give us a chance to use the apply facilities. Such a nice idea to offer dinner and a show together. You can buy separate tickets to just the show.

What a Hoot! came…read morehere in downtown Nanaimo to see 'My Fair Lady'. How could you go wrong? "With a little bit 'o luck", we found great seats, good sound system, although at times the chorus members 'lost' their voices. Direction and acting were impressive. Beautiful lobby, very handy parking facility, and extremely helpful staff on hand.
