Overall I had a fairly good experience with Carlando Used Car Dealership, Vulkan and his team in Lakeland, FL. They are not pushy, which I appreciate, but they are friendly when approached. A friend of the owner was walking in the lot, he happened to answer some of our questions, get a jump for the battery and arrange a drive, even though he didn't work there. Which was very nice of him. I'm not entirely sure who advertises and markets the cars on FB marketplace as there were multiple cars I inquired about with different names of people responding including Vulkan. One thing I have learned is, oftentimes it's the same person responding to the ads. Which is fine. Carlando had 3 cars I was interested in looking at. After being warned about some of the flip dealers in the Tampa Bay/Florida area my primary concern was the reputation of the "dealership" since so many are flipper "dealers". This state doesn't have lemon laws. Due to the AS IS sale standards here I was VERY nervous about buying a car in Florida.Vulkan/Carlando had good reviews across several sites. These guys market the cars well with many photos, I was able to see scuffs, scratches, dents, worn leather etc. Before driving an hour plus to look at the cars in person, they also answered all my questions in advance, provided the Autocheck with vin# so I could run them in advance, & made the cars available for me on the day I was coming to see them. While the car didn't have lights flashing on the dash in the photos, it did have several lights on when I got there. I hired a local mobile mechanic to meet me there and had a friend with me to help me test drive, hear (I'm deaf) and take note of how the cars ran. We ruled out the first car we took for a test drive, rather swiftly as it had some odd noises, the 2nd one appeared to have been under water at one point, lots of rust and salt stains. The third we knew had some issues, both due to the dash lights, and the computer diagnostic, also the sun visor was off, but they had it in the office (it popped right on). When we mentioned those issues with Vulkan and his team, he was willing to adjust the price a little to help. He does NOT charge a dealer fee like most do, which also helps. I took the car in for oil change, service and to do the repairs that we discovered. Even though it turned out to be more than I expected such as, an electrical issue vs a bulb issue for 2 of the 3 lights, & 2 TPMS sensor replacements, as well as a tire repair, his price adjustments made the repairs less painful than if I had paid full price. One reason it's a 4 vs 5 star review, is the cleanliness. It hadn't been cleaned, we found a dental retainer, some candy bars, papers/ trash, lots of pet hair, sand etc. It's a USED car. I understood that, but it would have been a bonus if it had been cleaned in advance of the sale, which is what I am used to from dealerships. I appreciate that he did accommodate the price reduction for those items we found, even if it meant I came out of pocket more than expected. It's been nearly 2 weeks I am still waiting on my paper work/title but they did tell me it would take 3 weeks for that to occur. I have already recommended them to others. I will continue to recommend them but it's the buyers responsibility to do due diligence and manage expectations. read more

Let me say the two individuals refused to address this issue without having me to get my attorney involved. I purchased a used QX 56 Infiniti (at the time paid $10,000 cash upfront). Asked if vehicle was ever in any accidents (told no). Asked if there were any mechanical issues with vehicle (told no). They were selling the vehicle for a another guy (who sells his cars on the lot as well) through their dealership. Drove vehicle for about 7 hours (drove it back to Fort Lauderdale will a few small issues) before it started flashing the check engine light and vehicle began to not move. Had vehicle towed (for a total of 4 times overall) to certified shops (received 3 professional diagnostics): 1. I learned that the check engine light had been reset, vehicle had body damage (seen it also on Carfax after being told about body damage by shop mechanic) . 2. The vehicle had 4 codes but most of all, I learned the engine needed to be replaced. The first shop told me that the engine was no good, so I decided to have the vehicle towed to Infiniti Dealership. Of course I paid to have the dealership do their own test (without saying anything about the engine). It was confirmed that the engine was bad and the vehicle was not any good. Representative of dealership contacted several times way of phone calls and text messages (verbal warranty w/laughter - told at sale of vehicle that if I had any problems to contact them if the vehicle break downs). Very unprofessional, rude and of course nasty over the phone. However, I made it clear that $10,000 cash for a vehicle that broke down within 8 hours to learn it was in an accident, engine light reset and bad engine is unacceptable to this New Yorker who has worked hard to secure a nest egg. Moral of this story is to share my experience only because I am in position to do something in order to recoup all or some of my money back from this dealership that sold a vehicle on behalf of another friend. It is clear to me that there was dishonesty on their part but most of all, defrauded me on the overall condition and sale of the vehicle. My unofficial summons as service to my upcoming official legal small claims suit and summons. **For those who are not financially able to hire or speak with an attorney: You can always contact the local District Attorney Office and request to speak to someone in the consumer fraud department or contact your state department of consumer affairs. You could also file complaints with BBB and attorney general but it is up to these agencies to determine if there is any merit on your file complaint(s). Will keep you updated on progress but please remember everybody situation will be different especially if you are not able to afford a lawyer. read more

DO NOT BUY A CAR HERE!!! We bought a van from Carlando, 501 N Florida Ave, Lakeland, FL 33801. The very first day the air went out and there was a huge water leak inside the van after it started raining. We couldn't get out one of the back doors, because the locks messed up.The very first time we drove it on the highway after having it only for 4 days, the engine blew up right in the middle of rush hour on Hwy 417. We almost died. I called Carlando and asked them for help with this vehicle, or to trade it for another vehicle. They flat out said no with no remorse. They said we could buy another car from them, as if we would even consider that! We paid a lot of money for a huge hassle and almost dying. I understand that there are buy here pay here rules when you sign a contract, but I really feel that this was unfair, unkind, and very bad business practice. I had two children in the car with me when this happened and they were so scared we were all having a panic attacks, because we were right in the middle of very very busy rush hour traffic with cars zooming by. We were up on and overpass with nowhere to go. It was extremely frightening. You would think that they would have a little bit of consideration or compassion, because they sold us a lemon but they were very firm on saying no to us without any help at all read more

My company purchased a truck from Carlando in January of 2022 for use in the company fleet. We did our best to inspect the vehicle as it's used, and we are a small family owned company. There was obvious rust, and they disclosed needing brake lines and some other minor repairs, as to be expected with a used vehicle. What was not disclosed was the frame had a hole thru it due to the amount of rust. The mechanic advised us it was entirely unsafe to drive. We purchased a new frame for it, however that also didn't work because we learned the cab itself was also broken, and unable to be mounted to a new frame. This company sells auction vehicles that they dress up to look nice and descent, but don't do any substantial repairs to ensure they're safe to drive. I've left reviews on google, the company's reply? "Hire better employees". Yeah, I wish I was making this up, but I'm not. The vehicle is entirely unsafe to drive, thus is essentially a paperweight now. We are out about $15,000 and the dealership flat refuses to accept any responsibility or make any effort to make it right. I've lodged a complaint with the Florida Motor Vehicles Department. buyer beware!!! do not purchase from this dealer. this is a very dishonest car dealer. we purhased a 2017 audi a7 for 19k. the dealer showed us a car report that the car had no issues. we drove the car home and noticed an oil leak. tried to speak with the dealer regarding the issues and he would not speak with me. we then took the car to audi to be inspected and was told it would cost 15k to repair and it's not worth fixing. this is fraudulent practice. they will see us in court. read more

I recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. My husband and I bought a beautiful Jeep Commander from Carlando in Lakeland. We looked over the vehicle and I noticed a little oil seepage from the valve cover and noticed the shocks and struts were bad on the test drive, but I expected to put some work into it being a 2007, but with 88k miles a price tag of $1500-$2000 less than other dealerships wanted for the same truck with a ton more miles it was worth it to me. The salesperson didn't disclose anything else being mechanically wrong with the vehicle. We didn't try to get them to do repairs and I didn't haggle price. My husband and I paid 8k no questions asked and took it off the lot and made our way 2 hours back home. Within 25 minutes the TPMS light came on. We stopped and checked the air in the tires that were brand new $1100 Michelins with less than 1k miles on them and inspected for nails or anything causing a slow leak. The tires were fine. I checked the dash to check the tire readings and the left rear tire sensor wasn't reading. Not a big deal TPMS sensors do go bad over time and I don't need my vehicle to tell me when to add air to my tires. An hour into the ride the check engine light came on. The vehicle ran fine except when in park idling it would feel like it was missing. The light went off and stayed off for a week. On day 4 the vehicle started making an awful whining noise when starting and accelerating. I had a mechanic check it and he said there was zero power steering fluid in the vehicle and it had leaked everywhere that he couldn't determine exactly where the leak was coming from. He added fluid and cleaned up the fluid off the vehicle so he could determine where the leak was coming from when he rechecked. The next day I couldn't find my keys and I was running late to work so I grabbed the second key and tried to start the vehicle and the alarm started going off. I was given a key that wasn't programmed to the vehicle . 2 days later buckets of water started to come in to the front passenger side from under the dash. I had to shop vac the rug twice a day until I could get the vehicle to a mechanic. Keep in mind this vehicle still has its temp tags on it. That's how quickly this vehicle started falling apart. On Monday the check engine light came back on and the vehicle was missing while driving and the water was non stop pouring from the dash so I rented a vehicle and dropped it to be fully diagnosed by a reputable mechanic serving our area for 20 years with all 5 star reviews. On Tuesday I got the worst news you could get after just dropping 8k on a vehicle less than 2 weeks prior. The mechanic rattled off everything that was wrong with it and my stomach sank when he told me it would be about 10k worth of work. One repair is 6k alone. I attached a picture of the invoice documenting all the repairs that are needed bc it would take me an hour to type it all out. He flat out told me not to bother repairing anything and suggested I get rid of it which he also noted on my invoice. I had him fix the water leaking from the clogged a/c drain bc I was afraid of mold and electrical components shorting out from all the water. During this time I attempted calling Carlando 13 times and no one would answer the phone. A week prior the person who does the registration called and asked for a copy of my insurance card and I told him that there were issues with the vehicle and they need to make it right. He told me he only does the paperwork and gave me a phone number for someone who could help. Well that person knew who was calling and why and didn't have the balls to talk to me after ripping me off. I hope with all I that I have in me that these shady crooks go out of business! How greedy and evil can you be to take advantage of people. They knew at minimum the TPMS light was on and that the check engine light was bc there were 6 stored codes. They reset the light just to get it off the lot. You could clearly see the oil seepage and the suspension was knocking over even the slightest bump. He knew this vehicle had problems and kept quiet and took our money. read more
