Due to a family member's insistence ..I have had to see dermatologists for the past 60 years due to skin cancer and I do have to say after this long journey and the many states I have lived in with the necessity of seeing a dermatologist that Dr.Reid Masters is the very best ever !! I just completed my first visit to this practice. Dr. Reid Masters was so wonderful! He really listened to me and then he gave me a thorough skin and hair check. He was such a great communicator and put me at ease. Very knowledgeable but also knows how to explain everything. Brianna the medical assistant was in the room with us. My family and I have been going to Dr. Bauman for over 20 years because of her extreme expertise and kindness. My son suffered from skin issues starting form a very young age and she has treated him throughout his teenage years into adulthood. I appreciate the caring staff at the front desk, it's always a pleasure to come in. Lately I have been seeing Dr. Norton and she is wonderful, just love her. Three years ago, in anticipation of retirement, we moved to the South Sound where the cost of living is considerably less. Still, we so covet the patient care we receive from Dr. Bauman and staff that we now make the hour's drive to Bellevue for our dermatology needs. There are several reasons we're so willing to commute to Dr. Bauman's clinic from afar. First, Dr. Bauman is an active listener, deftly weighing treatment plans with patient goals for recovery. Also, we are encouraged to call anytime we might have questions between appointments-particularly following surgery. Quite often a medical assistant, usually in consult with Dr. Bauman, responds quickly while I'm on a brief hold. Should an assistant not be available, calls are returned in a timely fashion. While at the clinic, we're always seen on time. Further, it has been our experience that, by comparison, the positive and nurturing feeling tone set at Dr. Carla J. So happy I found Dr. Bauman. I had little bumps under my eyes (genetic) and have been wanting to get them remove them for so long. Came in for a consult with Dr. Bauman on a Wednesday afternoon, in which she told me about the bumps and what my options were. She was able to squeeze me in the following morning. Procedure was quick and painless (Dr numbed the area prior and during when I needed more). Dr. Bauman was reassuring easy to talk to, and has a great bedside manner. I got a positive experience here, especially with Janice Kim, the Master Esthetician. I had a severe case of Eczema back when I was growing up in India and my skin was always irritated. As a result of it, I used to scratch a lot and it left a lot of scars and hyper pigmentation on my face and neck. I tried a lot of creams in India, but most of them didn't work. Once I moved to the Seattle area, because of less pollution and relatively pleasant weather, my skin never got irritated but the pigmentation stayed. So, I went to Dr. Bauman's office for treatment and I was introduced to Janice. She did skin peels on my face and neck with utmost care and patience. After the first peel, she checked on me through texts for almost a week and made sure everything was ok. She also responded to my questions almost immediately, even after working hours. Now after the second peel, I can a see a significant difference in my skin tone and appearance and I'm completely satisfied with her service. 1st let me say Dr Bauman is an amazing dermatologist & she did not do any of procedures below. I wish I'd never had injections here. Had 2 vials of sculptura in one appointment. Introduced & Talked up like a miracle injection in consultation so I scheduled an appointment. I thought it was safer because helps body produce its own collagen for anti-aging so I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived I was taken back to exam room. I felt worried because the nurse's assistant that was mixing the sculptura solution had an injury to her hand, and presenting like she was on pain pills. Treatment requires prepayment so I would have lost $1800 if I walked out so I went through with it. I did all the aftercare procedures properly 5x5 rule. Now I have 3 Permanent nodules from sculptura and uneven placement of injections from this clinic. One nodule is visible, one by my nose was so far deep in gums it hurts tooth when I touch it. Saw a certified plastic surgeon to assess damage and he was very critical of how injections were done but there is nothing that can be corrected. Also tried Fontana series of laser treatments for lipolysis and skin tightening which was a complete waste of my money & time, I did not see improvement in appearance of skin elasticity or any significant reduction in fat. I will never go here again for anything cosmetic . I learned the hard way and hope my mistake can save someone from going through the same experience. read more

I will never recommend this clinic to other people. I had some rash and went to the clinic. Dr. Bauman talked with me for less than 1 minute and did not see my skin with rash at all. She just simply subscribed some Steroids external ointment to me and very quickly left the room. The whole process from her entering the room to leaving lasted only about 3 mins. She didn't even wear the latex gloves to examine. Then after a few weeks, I received a bill of 234 dollars. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to Dr. Bauman's practice. First off I was very happy with the speed in which I was seen. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I mentioned that I would have a date next day after treatment appointment so I need something with no down time. Also I need to put on make up the next day. They recommended scarlet RF. Now I have to cancel the date since My face is horrible the second day. I googled that such treatment requires at least one week to recover. OMG, the staff should have told me that!! When they reached out, they tried to deny what they have said before and make it like they just haven't made it clear. I should have done my research, not trust them blindly. My recent surgical procedure and aftermath at this office did not go as expected.  I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed, the "at home care of a wound" was vague and not clearly  defined. After stitch removal one of the long stitches was left in place and the steri-strips came off within 24 hours.  I went to Urgent Care and received much needed help. I would not recommend this clinic or doctor. read more

I am so pleased with the excellent service I received at this office. I went last week for my first full skin exam. I wasn't sure how things would go. The MA Irene fully explained everything, so my insecurities quickly went out the door. I was extremely happy with what the waiting room looked like, and the high level of cleanliness was consistent throughout the office. I saw Shane Keck and he was amazing. I hope things have changed but I agree with others. The only time I went was because I had something on my upper chest. I told her the reason and I pointed out at her and from were she was siting she took a look. She did not get up to get closer. I have never seen this before with any other doctor. She was nice and respectful but I think a dermatologist should take a look closer. As I was waiting in the front room a staff was talking to a patient and after she hung up , she was complaining about the patient to another staff. Everyone in the room could hear and see her making faces. I felt sad for the patient because you will never think they will complain about you in front of other people waiting in the room. The first time I saw Dr. Baumann, the staff booked the wrong appt time on the calendar, so when I got there, they told me I was an hour early. So I filled out the paper work, then came back after an hour or so. I had to wait another 15 minutes after my appt time to be seen. After a brief 5 minute talk about my psoriasis, Dr Carla Baumann prescribed me an expensive brand name. Really? And this is after she wanted to check my moles and charge me $150 to have them biopsied, which, was not necessary, nor the reason I went in. When I made my second appt, I got sick and rescheduled for a week later. My husband called in and rescheduled a week later for me. When I still wasn't better come that Tuesday, I called 20-30 min ahead of time and they wanted to charge me $50. NO WHERE easily seen is this fee, nor did they state it in their message or when I booked the appt. I told them I was sick, didn't want to get them sick, and the gal just ignored me and said she would charge me. I told her I wanted to speak with someone "more important." Apparently, she took offense to this, because she got her manager on the phone and her manager yelled at me. What I meant was someone "higher up" or "more in charge." I can't believe she was offended. You have to have a thick skin to work in this business, lady. Anyway, the manager told me I couldn't talk to her staff that way and she would still charge me. I told her I was SO SICK that I couldn't breathe because of the cold and asthma and i didn't want to pay the fee. She finally let it go, but what really upset me was the level of service they have. She didn't even care to rectify the situation or redeem me as a client. I honestly feel bad for the doctor, because she has front desk staff representiing her badly and losing customers. Look how many bad reviews there are. Coincidence? No. Don't go there. Find another dermatologist. read more

It's like they don't even want your business. I went in on june 8th to see about getting 2 moles removed and they said okay we'll call your insurance and then call you back with a quote of how much it will cost. 10 days later I called because I hadn't heard anything from them and the lady I spoke with said she would talk to her office manager and get on it saying how she didnt know why I hadn't been called back yet. It's now been 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten a call from them. I'm pretty sure it doesn't take this long to call my insurance company. Thanks for wasting my time. You're better off going somewhere else that actually wants your business. read more

I have not seen Dr Bauman herself, but I do regularly go to see the Nurse Practitioner, Lynn. I have now been to see Lynn approximately 3 - 4 times, for varying concerns ranging from mole checks to acne to a skin disorder I was diagnosed with, and each time she is very nice and so is her assistant. Granted I do not care for the wait time sometimes, as I am always on time and usually have to wait 15+ min sometimes more to see her - but honestly I expect that of a Dr visit b/c that's pretty much par for the course. I DO appreciate that Lynn always has very early appointments which really is accommodating for my work schedule. One time I did need to cancel/reschedule and the receptionist DID advise me it would be a $50 fee for not enough notice, I was surprised but now I know and I always make sure to call them. They're not the only office that does this, my massage therapist also does this as well. It's slightly uncommon for a Dr office, but it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. I would have to say my only gripe so far has been that the medications they prescribe are pricey, but thats prescriptions.... And they always tell me "If it's too expensive call us and we will try to figure out a way to make it affordable for you", they always give me samples to use of the medications, and coupons too. I can't blame them for big pharma pricing really..... Over all I think they're a good office in my experience and I will continue to go there. read more

I was lucky enough to be referred to Dr. Bauman's office through my general physician. Dr. Bauman, Amy Nelson, and the rest of the staff have been extremely friendly and knowledgable. I had an appointment with Amy Nelson to inspect an unrelated benign issue, but she performed the due diligence to identify a spot which turned out to be stage I melanoma. This was a spot that could have gone for years before I would have taken notice, so I truly owe Amy for taking notice. Dr. Bauman performed the surgery to remove the melanoma and not only made it a good and educational experience, but performed the stitching in such a way that it has been healing quickly without experiencing any pain along the way. I strongly recommend going to see Dr Bauman, Amy Nelson, and the rest of the staff! It could save your life :) read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr Bauman for years and she's quickly and professionally dealt with everything we've thrown at her. From kids with ridiculous acne and strange bumps to me with years of sun exposure and the wrinkles that come with four kids. She and her staff know what they are doing and I completely trust them to help with each new bump and wrinkle that we come up with. The office is beautiful and peaceful and the front staff is friendly and quick with a greeting as soon as you walk in. I couldn't ask for a more caring, down to earth doctor to help us with any medical or cosmetic dermatology needs. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Bauman's office for couple of years and they have always go out of their way for their patients. They always get me in for my last minute acne cyst extractions. Such pathetic doctors office , Specially their front desk is so rude and don't know how to talk to patient. I would never recommend this Clinic to any of my family and friends. One example is that even after leaving a voice mail they charged me no show fees and says that it doesn't match their manually written notes where in I showed records on phone. i should have trusted my fellow yelpers and their reviews of this place. my first appointment with Amy went pretty well, let me atleast give them that. she was friendly, informative, and very knowledgeable! however, all the appointments since then went downhill. Amy seemed like she was always in a rush in our appointments and i felt practically shoo'd away. she stopped working there and so i starting seeing Shane who is just as informative and knowledgeable, but just not that personable. he takes his time with explaining things to me, but sometimes i just feel he's a bit condescending. the front staff could use some work too. ESPECIALLY Danielle. that's right, girl. i got your name so i could specifically put it on this review. can i just say that...you suck? you have such a stank attitude and i can literally feel your eyes roll back to your head when you're talking to me. you're definitely not a sight for sore eyes and needless to say, not the most perfect person to see when a patient first walks into the office. you might hate your job, but paying clients don't need your negative energy. k thanks bye. i've also had to do deal with 2-3 different occasions where Shane would prescribe a few meds for me, and i'd go to my neighborhood Walgreens (where it was clearly confirmed with the MA that my prescriptions are going to), but for some reason, Walgreens tells me that 1 out of my 3 meds prescribed is waiting for me at Safeway. seriously? what the fuck? safeway? and also, he'll give me coupons for expensive meds but those coupons don't even work! i've run into that problem every.single.time. not only that, but there will be a problem with another one of my meds where i have to get another authorization and Walgreens has to fax it to Carla's office. so almost every time i've gone to Walgreens, and if i have, for example 3 meds, i can only pick up 1 at that time because of all the problems listed above. you guys-do yourself a favor and find a better place to get your skin worked on. this place is just not worth your time nor trouble. super disappointed! now i know better. needless to say, i do not recommend Carla Bauman. read more

I have a history of skin issues, thus have seen many dermatologists over the course of 12-15 years. I don't expect a spa-like visit when I go to a specialist, but I do expect great medical knowledge and careful treatment, which is what I have experienced. I am the type of person who can handle minor inconveniences like an extra wait in the lobby, or an assistant ramping up on her knowledge, as long as the principals of the practice are excellent. And that is how I would rate the care of Dr. Carla Bauman and Nurse Practitioner Lynne Vigesaa. Lynne Vigessa's obsession over my skin issues, and her careful explanations, were 10x better than any practitioner I have ever seen. She is an asset to this practice. And when I talked to Dr. Bauman about the use of new technologies to run her practice, like MeloFind or their electronic health record system, I was impressed with her desire to utilize the best possible innovations to improve the patient experience. I have been in their office three times in the last 60 days. I have not received the negative bedside manner similar to the other comments stated on Yelp. That said, I don't see Bauman and Vigesaa as the type of people who role up the little chair on wheels, hold my hand, and talk to me with a sweet and soft demeanor. I can only assume that Bauman and Vigessa are taking the other Yelp comments seriously and are making changes to their staff training and procedures. Why four stars instead of five? I've had to wait longer than expected in each of my three visits, and I also figured you wouldn't believe my review if I wasn't the least bit critical :) read more

I saw Lynne Vigessa who is a very caring, knowledgable, professional Nurse Practitioner. She is highly experienced, educated and proficient in dermatology. I could not be happier with the aesthetic services I had. I have been to 3 prior clinics for aesthetic services in the Seattle area in the past and she was the most precise & took the most time with me. The nurse assisting was wonderful too. My mother went to see Carla about an issue she had related to her face. She's too kind so she refused to write this review, but I feel we have a responsibility the community of Bellevue to report has has happened to her through her appointments with Carla. Mom has had a ring around her lips that is peeling and red since October 2018. Carla had prescribed a variety of different things over these past 6 months, none of which worked. That can happen to any doctor and trial and error is part of the game, however, the part which is really difficult to come to terms with is that what has happened in the past 3-4 weeks. Since this issue was continuing she recommended that mom have a biopsy on her lip done. This is strange, given that the issue SURROUNDS my mother's lips - and is not on the lips AT ALL. The biopsy has caused a scar to her lips of course, and did not give any useful information what so ever since there was no skin irritation in that area. On top of an unnecessary scar and all the pain and time it took to heal her lip, Carla didn't even run a culture on the tissue they removed so they learned nothing. Mom is currently visiting me in NYC and has just gone to visit my dermatologist - The issue is already subsiding in just 4 days. DO NOT VISIT THIS SO CALLED DOCTOR. ALEXIS B HAS IT RIGHT... I moved out of the area six months ago but am back looking for a dermatologist. Reading the posts brought back a lot of emotions of my experience. I have to agree with some of the other posts that felt overcharged and that Dr. Bauman was distant. I asked her to review my skin condition on my face and pointed out one small area of concern and she assessed it all from across the room. I have had minor surgery for a reoccurring issue on my back several times over the years with different dermatologists but Dr Bauman's fee was excessive. I called before I booked to get an estimate to make sure they were in line with my previous experiences but when I got the bill it was almost twice what I was quoted. After talking to their accounting dept, they let slip they know what the allowable amount is to the insurance company and they submitted the limit. Additionally, my procedure takes about 45 minutes. Dr Bauman was late to the appointment and while taking care of my issue she heard a baby crying in the next room stating "Oh, that must be my 2:30. I'm coming baby!" I know from experience if this procedure isn't handled correctly and completely, it will reoccur. She had me out in under 30 minutes. Not confident. Other than expressing her concern for her next patient, all she wanted to talk about were her strong political views. So I felt obligated to engage. I was in her hands, under the knife after all. Ugh! There were other procedures I discussed with Dr. Bauman, but after that experience I decided to look elsewhere. When I cancelled an upcoming appointment, Dr Bauman called me personally at home to ask why I was not keeping my appointment. Really? She told me how important it was that I start the next procedure immediately. I said I was moving. Then she pressed me, asking where? I simply said out of the area. I was referred to this business by my doctor thinking that I will be seen by the Doctor I have been referred to. Unfortunately I was not right. After a cold reception service I was seen for an skin care assistant not an MD and I was given a medication that was not good fit to my skin and I had to deal with the drug company they hooked me up to. Could I give a 0? Terrible customer service. For an appt you get a reminder text, it asks to confirm or cancel appt. I cancelled the appt. They call me the next day and ask me if I would like to reschedule and that they'll have to charge me a $50 no show up fee. After I explained that I canceled via their text message system, they would not agree to waive the $50 fee, so I got off the phone. The receptionist was rude and had an attitude. read more

Dr. Bauman was completely unprofessional, rude, and brief. I met her for no longer than 5 minutes, she barely introduced herself or her intern, she had another staff member log into the computer for her which I found a little strange. She looked at my grandmothers back for one second, standing three feet away, not caring to ask any questions about it. She immediately diagnosed it to get us out the door as quickly as possible. She prescribed my grandmother a cream that she had already been prescribed by her regular physician. I asked her to fill out a medical information form my grandmothers nursing facility hands out for medical appointments, and said rudely "can't i just fill this out on my computer and print it off for you?" All she printed was the recommendations for the pill and cream dosages. She didn't explain anything about the condition, and when I asked questions I seemed to burden her, I asked her helper if they could give me any information about it, she printed out some information off the internet for me, which actually was nice since Dr. Bauman obviously had no intentions on informing us about the condition. Also, I waited a very long time in the waiting room, I was quite a bit early to fill out new patient forms, I knew I'd have to wait for a while, but 25 minutes after the scheduled appointment is uncalled for. The excuse used was one girls of the staff was new and still learning how to use the computer programs blaming herself for us having to wait. I really don't think that was the only problem. This place is screaming slimy, grimy and money hungry. It was a terrible experience. I don't think i'll ever trust a doctors office with granite counter tops ever again. Even if the diagnosis is correct the attitude of the doctor was so ridiculous and unprofessional, that I still want to have my grandmother looked at somewhere else. I still have unanswered questions and concerns, Dr. Bauman definitely does not seem like she cares about her patients or their health concerns, just about their money.
