More so recently one…read moreparticular patient continues to wait hours to be picked up, and yes I am not exaggerating when I say hours. She is tired and hungry because she is waiting hours past her scheduled pick up time. We offer her food and a private room to lay down in which isn't a problem. My staff and I call and voice our concerns and they say the driver is on the way. The problem is when we explain we are closing and need to leave to pick up our children and their client would have to wait outside in 90 degrees temperatures unless we arrange child care, and they continue to lie and say the driver is on the way. Or we call and say the client was supposed to be picked up 2 hours ago, you said you would be here 2 hours ago, our entire staff is waiting to go to lunch, and they lie and say they are on their way. Today I called every 10 minutes to check on the driver who was again an hour late after dropping the patient off an hour late and I was told "I said the driver will be there in 5 minutes and was hung up on." Just because they are reimbursed through the medical insurance does not mean that they should provide poor service and take advantage of those in need of medical transportation. I will spend the rest of my afternoon reporting this company to every insurance carrier I know because no one should be a victim of this.

While Yelp may not be the ideal place to review a hospice provider, after reading another review of…read moreWings Over Virginia, I felt it was important to share our experience. My wife passed away in May after receiving hospice care from Wings Over Virginia. Throughout her time in hospice, the care, compassion, and support provided by their staff were exceptional. My wife was a nurse, and on many occasions she commented on how pleased she was with the professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness of the nurses, aides, and other staff members who cared for her. Whenever supplies, medications, or medical equipment were needed, they were provided promptly. Medications were delivered directly to our home, and the hospice team worked diligently to keep her comfortable. We also understood the limitations of the Medicare hospice benefit, which does not provide full-time custodial care. Family members and close friends worked together to provide day-to-day care, with valuable support and guidance from the hospice team. I am deeply grateful for the care Wings Over Virginia provided to my wife and our family during one of the most difficult times of our lives. Based on our experience, I would not hesitate to recommend them.

My family's experience with Wings Over Virginia was inhumane and beyond traumatic. They promised…read morecomfort and dignity and deliver neither. The nurses they send are nice enough, but completely ineffectual and possibly incompetent. They couldn't provide the correct equipment and tortured my dad trying to insert the wrong sized equipment over a period of days before ordering the correct size. He was too sick by the time it finally arrived to use it. They do not provide comfort medications via IVs, nor IMs (intra-muscular). Although they may prescribe oral meds, my father ended up slooooowly drowning to death, painfully, and horribly- all the while conscious and aware- for days. There was no foresight that at some point he would not be able to ingest the medications. In my dad's last hours, my mom begged and pleaded with Wings Over Virginia to help change her dying husband's bedsheets because she could not lift him to do it herself. They flat out told her that was not part of her services and did not come to help her. Most unforgivable, was their inability to provide the comfortable, dignified death they promise. No one's family deserves to be treated like this and NO ONE deserves to die like this.

My siblings and I left feeling relieved knowing that my mother would be in great hands. Prior to the aide starting, they did a meet and greet. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.
