My friend and I had our caricature sketched by Mike. The two of us stood together, and he told my friend to take a break. Turns out he can draw us individually into the same frame! As he sketched, Mike talked to me just like an old friend; none of that "What's your favorite animal?" hubbub that leads to a random dolphin being placed in your portrait. We talked about work and current events and found out we had similar interests. Minutes later, my friend resumed position and he continued to sketch. The entire process took only five minutes and resulted in an adorable picture of the two of us. My friend proudly has it on display in her office at work. Mike was a the Yelp Independance Day Party at the Freedom Center last night. The significant other…read moreand I had a caricature done and were quite impressed. Having watched a few others in line before us, most of the drawings were spot on (if exaggerations of certain features...as caricatures are by definition...right?). Since the SO is a big super hero fan, he asked if we could have something done with that worked in- and work in he did; I donned a cape and the SO a mask, with muscles and stun guns for added effect. This particular request, and the fulfillment therein, led to a conversation about collecting comic book art, possible events in the area featuring this, and other endeavors that he is part of and/or interested in. This may have extended the wait for those around us (karmic, sorry, for that) but in the end it made the experience more comfortable (having someone stare at you CAN be awkward) and led to a sense of intrigue and mutual respect for this man so kindly creating a take away for us from the party. Wonderful experience!!…read more We hired "Batman" from Awesome Family Entertainment for my nephew's 4th birthday. My nephew is obsessed with Batman, and although the price initially seemed a little steep ($150 for 30 mins) it was more than worth it. We had the party at a Glow Putt place in Gahanna and asked our entertainer in advance if he would play putt putt with him, and he happily agreed. Batman arrived on time, about 10 mins before the birthday boy, and waited for his arrival. When my nephew came in and laid his eyes on Batman he was ECSTATIC. (It actually brought a tear to my eye seeing how excited he was and how real it was for him.) My nephew and Batman set out to putt putt, and Batman made him feel like he was the only kid in the building. He gave him his undivided attention as they chatted, joked around, and golfed like they were the best of friends. It melted all of our hearts seeing them having such a wonderful time together and how in tune Batman was with him. This experience was just so much more than we could have ever hoped for, and it was worth every penny. I would definitely recommend AFE- and especially who plays Batman. He was such a nice, professional guy, and we absolutely loved him.

It was easy to set up and pay for by phone. We received a confirming telephone call from the "performer" a few hours before the scheduled appearance. An hour before I called the restaurant to let them know. "Elvis" was right on time, led a happy birthday sing-along, spoke with everyone and presented party beads and balloons to the "birthday girl." We were very satisfied with how easily it was handled, that it was delivered as advertised and on time. Thank you, "Elvis!"

While it was somewhat of a small wedding, everybody still got a hoot out of the drawings and how accurate they were. We felt he moved quick enough to where people weren't tied up too long but also took his time to get enough detail In the drawing. The guests thought this was such a fun idea and it felt more special than just sending the guests home with another piece of junk from a wedding. Steve was able to get many guests in but quality of work never slacked. He is great at what he does! Steve was also very flexible with as we had to make some changes because of the weather. He was hired for an office party in Columbus Ohio. The caricatures he did were awful. I don't care what awards he got. The work was bad. I'd post my friend's picture but she was embarrassed because it was so unrecognizable. I've had caricatures before that just exaggerate features--that's what's expected. This was simply like he drew someone else. Hopefully he practiced since then. That would be a better use of his time as opposed to wild accusations that those who don't like his work are "trolls".

I was not impressed with the quality of his work. Another thing I did not like is that he takes…read morepictures of your child that he just painted, then he puts that picture on various websites, such as yelp, Facebook, and his personal website advertising his business. I feel that if he is going to do this, he needs to get consent from the parent first and possibly even have the parent sign a form stating that he/she is allowing The Caricature Shop to use their child's photo. Last but not least, he cleans the paint brushes off in dirty water that he uses all day long. Isn't that a health violation? What if someone had a disease or infectious sore on their face? He paints them & then swishes his brush around in dirty water & gets ready to paint the next child. I feel there should be some type of sanitizing process done with the brushes before he begins to paint the next child.
