Having recently been laid off and registered with the Florida reemployment assistance agency, I received a letter summoning me here to attend a services orientation at this facility. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this really is a full-service organization offering a lot of different resources, guidance, courses, workshops, etc. to help the unemployed find work again.
This facility is located on the grounds of Palm Beach International Airport (literally right across from the runways, near the control tower). There is plenty of parking available. The first thing you see when you walk inside is a seating area with rows of chairs; if you don't know like me where you need to go, turn right and go all the way down the hall where you can be checked in. Then I proceed to what looks like a a small lecture hall, where the orientation was held, and signed in with the presenter.
The orientation session was about 2 hours long, but very helpful and offered a lot of information about understanding what services they provide, how to navigate the Florida online reemployment portal, and also went over strategies for improving your resume, networking, searching for jobs, etc. Martha, the presenter, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable which made the session much more enjoyable. Once the orientation was over, she and some of the other staff members assisted us with completing setup of our online reemployment portal accounts, going over our resumes, answering any questions, etc.
Overall, while I only came here for the orientation session as required, the center offers a lot of useful and interesting career services which anyone (unemployed or even currently employed) can take advantage of, and many of these services and programs are free, which is wonderful. Definitely check out this center whether you are summoned here for a session or not! read more
