This school takes a more curriculum/teaching-oriented approach rather than simple "day care". They follow a pedagogical philosophy similar to Montessori, emphasizing freedom and harnessing each child's own specific interests and motivations. The biggest strength of YS is the outstanding teaching staff, all of whom care deeply about the well-being and growth of the children. The different teachers within the "cottage" of four adjoining classrooms developed individual connections with my son and the other children, knowing well their various interests and quirks. The pre-k cottage director, Ms. Jess oversees the classrooms with expertise and a deep sense of empathy. She effectively fields informal chats with parents about questions and concerns that pop up on the fly. Between the wonderful teachers and cottage director, I always felt that my child was in very safe and nurturing hands. The classroom atmosphere is warm and inviting. There is lots of natural light and many learning stations with carefully thought-out objects left for the children to "discover". Kids get zero screen time at the Young School. Instead of punishing children, behavior is managed through redirection and talking.  Healthy snacks are offered, and the staff teaches and practices good hygiene. The main area that could be improved upon is communication from the director. On several occasions, I received mass emails chastising (unnamed) other parents for taking screenshots of the live video feed, requesting child-specific changes to naptime logistics, incorrectly using cubby space, and calling in to the classroom during non-naptime hours. ("Any parent disrupting the day too frequently will lose camera access and a parent meeting will be requested.") I would prefer these types of issues be resolved by one-on-one conversations with the relevant parents, rather than public shaming. The unprofessional tone of these emails was underscored by a lack of basic proofreading. My child's classroom had high turnover, with three different teachers in a six-month period. Shockingly, when one left and was replaced by a brand new employee, parents were not given any notice whatsoever. I showed up one morning to drop off my son in his classroom and encountered a total stranger who claimed to be in charge. Luckily, another teacher was in the cottage area and vouched for the new teacher's legitimacy. Lack of preemptive communication on this type of matter is unacceptable. Another instance of poor communication occurred when initially attempting to enroll my child. The paperwork was confusing and I had trouble getting questions answered, as other reviews have noted. Overall, I recommend the Young School as a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for child; parents may have to deal with some unneccesary hassles.

Three months have passed and my…read morechild is still traumatized by his experience at the school after only 2 days. whenever we happen to drive near or in the shopping complex where the school is located, he gets nervous as if I am going to take him back (it's near a UPS and a restaurant we frequently eat at.) this evening he randomly shared that the director stated that she was going to put him a classroom with babies. this is new information that he didn't share with me three months ago. this school owes my child an apology and should consider adding new emotional intelligence training for their administrative staff. there is no exception to this type of behavior. I've received no phone call from the owners to discuss the experience. parents beware!

My children attend public school but hehehe we get around... @Gilman, we spent the day learning stuff!! My son cherishes a key tag he learned how to make using laser cutting. He also learned yet another way to program an EV3 robot and built a reusable rocket (mom, I'm tired of EV3, I wanna learn programming for another robot). My daughter learned how to make natural dyes and both son and daughter learned how to make reusable rockets (the toy kind). On my end, I learned how to foster critical thinking with my children and how progressive schools are adapting to changing needs of learners. Sadly, I was VERY mistaken. My daughter began at this preschool in June of 2024 and I pulled her from their care in 6/2025. In a year, my daughter had been bitten 5 times, FIVE, with the last incident because the worst. My child is now left with a permanent scar on her face due to the negligence of this school. On 6/24/25 around 11AM, I received a call from my daughters teacher in which she told me she had been bitten again. I was furious but the teacher assured me they were following the proper steps to try to relieve the bite. A few hours later, I receive another call from her teacher in which I was told the bite was a lot worse & the directors husband Zack, try to gaslight and blame it on the fact my daughter fell asleep on the side where the bite was. The teacher then sent me a photo of my daughters face & I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Where was the supervision?! How does a bite like this even happen and the child who is responsible isn't even terminated/suspended or held accountable? I was told by the teachers that this child has repeatedly bitten other students and the director and front office staff do nothing about it and the mother of the child just brushes it off. This is unacceptable. I feel like this place is so concerned with money versus the safety of these children. The director didnt even have the professionalism or decency to call me herself to tell me about the bite and I think that's because she knew the severity of the bite. I spoke with Bryanna from the front and her response was "this is normal behavior for children of her age group" completely get it, sure, but for my child to be bitten this many times and for thid last incident to be as bad as it is, somebody needs to be held accountable and something needs to be done. No one should have to send their child to school, where they should be safe and their care should be taken seriously and keep receiving calls like this. Again, this place is money hungry. Safety is NOT their top priority no matter how much they preach it is. Thank god I work from home so I am able to keep my baby at home with me until I find better care for her. But if you are considering sending your child here, I would think TWICE, especially if your child is young & cant speak on what is going on/happening in these instances.

Since a minor incident over pizza and billing, the energy and treatment toward my family drastically changed. I attempted to get clarity on payments via several emails but was met with coldness and what felt like outright hostility each time I entered the building. Most recently, I was charged a $50 late fee without any explanation at drop-off. When I politely asked how it was calculated, I was brushed off and told the staff member was "attending to another parent"--as if I wasn't also a parent seeking clarification. The attitude and lack of basic respect were shocking. Even worse, my daughter came home telling me she was told to "get out" of the daycare by the front desk staff after another child physically hurt her. Instead of offering care or protection, she was dismissed in a way no child should ever experience. My daughter is a loving, joyful child, and this kind of treatment is completely unacceptable. There's a consistent, uncomfortable energy when we come for pick-up, and interactions often feel rushed and cold. We were even wrongly charged for being one minute late--only to receive an apology after we pointed out the error. The owner, Mary, is a particularly concerning part of the problem. She is consistently angry, rude, and dismissive. She often makes irrational decisions in the heat of the moment, and only later follows up with apology emails after realizing her mistakes. It's a pattern that reflects poor leadership and instability--traits that have no place in a child care setting. On one occasion, she clearly stated that she would give us a warning before disenrollment, only to turn around and disenroll our child without any notice. We're relieved to be leaving what we now see as a toxic, emotionally unsafe, and poorly managed environment. I would not recommend this daycare to any family looking for a respectful, nurturing, or professional experience.

My two kids attend school here. They are in 3rd and 1st grades and have both been there since…read moreKindergarten. They are two very different types of kids. My now-3rd grader was at first a reluctant reader and his reading didn't really click until the middle of first grade. This was a little slower than many other kids in his class but his teachers continued to meet him where he was to guide him forward. This was the right move because he would have been turned off if he felt that there was too much pressure - it proves that the teachers really got to know my specific child and how he ticks. Now that he is in third grade he is reading at a mid-fourth grade level and absolutely devouring all books. I am so glad that he wasn't pushed too hard in Kindergarten because he has now developed a genuine love of reading. My 1st grader, on the other hand, was reading by the third week of Kindergarten. Her teacher has provided her lots of opportunities to extend her learning, and is able to really capably meet a huge range of learning levels in the classroom. She will sometimes meet with a reading group made up of kids from across the three first grade classrooms who are all working on reading comprehension skills for chapter books. I am so grateful that Creative City customized the teaching approach to meet the very different needs of each of my children. I use reading as an example because my two kids couldn't be more different, but the school is meeting their needs in many other ways as well. The arts integrated curriculum, for instance, is really nurturing artistic skills development in each of them and they are both developing into wonderful artists.

There are really too many things to list, but I'll try to. First, arts are at the core of learning at this school. The arts are used as a tool for teaching and evaluating students' work. The school also ensures there's recess everyday which is so important at this age! I absolutely love the community of families, teachers and staff. We are always welcome in the school. The day starts with a community breakfast in which all classes eat together, hear morning announcements and say the school pledge. Parents are encouraged to be a part of that. The class sizes are small, which is great for students to get specialized attention. And there's no boring worksheets. Kids learn in ways that are meaningful and fun. The Community School only has 1 teacher who got his teaching license by completing 4 years of…read morecollege in 1 year Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 are mandatory classes to graduate high school, yet The Community School doesn't teach either course. There is a ton of work yet it's all busy work, not work that is needed. The head teacher and founder, Tom, has only one interest, and it's getting access to presenters to come to the school and receive donations. I wouldn't recommend The Community School. You are not allowed to miss school due to being sick or even surgery. My son had to have life saving surgery and due to him having surgery he was treated terribly. Tom would say mean things to my son everyday in front of the whole class. Tom called him names. Tom put him down. Tom didn't allow him help from his brother with getting things and picking things up. He even forced their seats apart so his brother couldn't help him. My son was not able to pick up more than 5 lbs or bend and twist for 6 weeks after surgery. My son sat in class every day in pain as his teacher made him feel like he was worthless. Then, Tom kicked my son out of the school because I as his mom called and told him not to talk or treat my child like that. My son wouldn't of went back this year but to kick a kid out because you can't treat him like dirt and get away with it. After my phone call, Tom chose to stop speaking to my son all together and ignore him. My other son graduated this year and his 4 years at this school wasn't good either. He had to teach his self algebra, have a tutor for calculus and took college courses plus self taught his self because Tom chose to use him as a junior staff member instead of letting him graduate a year early when he had already been through every course he was learning for a second time.
