Yes, she will have woodwork. Yes, her class will play traditionally 3rd-grade roles in the fall festival. Yes, her class will go on the weeklong farm trip to New York. In the curriculum, Waldorf wrote-in these three and dozens of other activities that are predictable. That predictability creates student anticipation, participation and success.

As an added bonus, they will know Mandarin too! Our son, age 5 has been going there since age 2 and his independence, knowledge and creativity have skyrocketed. It started the first week he came home from school sweeping the floor, helping to put dishes in the dishwasher, and one morning, he even made me eggs for breakfast! He now teaches us Chinese at home. Our daughter also goes to school here now for about 9 months. She too has developed in her own right, learning about the world around her and interacting with others in a polite, social context. Having on more introverted child and one more extroverted one gave us pause at first, however the school has been more than adequate at helping them both grow in their own ways and at their own pace. If you're not familiar, we highly recommend you review the montessori method and see if it would fit with your family. If so, then Tong Le should definitely be top on your list!

The separate gym building provides space for birthday parties. They have a indoor climbing apparatus (a somewhat dangerous one), bounce house, and large gym blocks. The space is open and a good size space for birthday parties for smaller kids. For the school itself, the main flaw is the New Century admissions process. It lacks structure, there is one person in charge. The person in charge, DS, is "disingenuous" as described by the first review. Since she alone runs the visits, the applicants are selected based off of her own personal evaluations and thus, her preferences and biases. Determining which 1-2 year old is more qualified than the next seems like a great skill, until its clear she does not look below the surface. Great space for a school, needs new administration, and the administration needs oversight.

I visited several churches that were not for me. But 5 minutes into the service at Grace and St. Peter's, I said "This is the one." I am a T.S. Eliot student, and thought that the great poet himself would have felt comfortable at G.A.S.P. In Eliot's words, a place "where prayer has been valid." The liturgy, the hymns, the very scent of the place reached my brain and awakened feelings of peace and contentment from long ago. If you want to walk into church chatting up your friends during the organ prelude, if you want to call your priest "Joe," if you want to take a long social break during the sign of peace, then G.A.S.P might not be the church for you.Yet the parishioners are friendly and a coffee hour follows the Sunday service. I am deeply saddened that this will be the last year that my son attends ABBS…read more He will be done with 8th grade and we will have to move on. His experience at the school has been excellent. He has been challenged academically and has been cared for and nurtured there. The amount of support that I had from both the teachers and the administration were superb and even unexpected. He adores all his teachers and all staff, they are caring and more than fair. I love that ABBS is a smaller school, they really get to know all the kids and parents have an easy access to all teachers and staff. Although we all loved and miss Miss Marshall, the new Principal, Miss Freeman has brought in so many positive ideas and excitement into the school. If you are considering ABBS look no further. Oh I also have to say that although we love every teacher at the school, I must specifically mention Miss A. since she has been my son's homeroom teacher for the past two years and had to put up with us on regular basis. Miss A is the perfect combination of fun but a teacher that keeps her class in order and focused, we simply will miss her terribly!

I use the track at New Town High School to get in either my cardio or a HIIT workout. The field was…read morerecently re-done maybe a year ago, it looks really good. It's a great place to workout when the Titan football team isn't practicing. Since COVID-19 there's been a huge uptick in people working out which is a good thing to see. The track & field got a little overrun with litter a few weeks ago, may have been due to staff not working during the height of the pandemic but has since been cleaned up and is typically well maintained. I enjoy walking & working out here, the people that come out are friendly.
