We previously felt comfortable leaving our pets in the care of Cedar Creek Kennel but after the change in ownership, we cannot in good conscience continue. The new owners appear to severely neglect the duties they are entrusted and paid to accomplish. When picking up our dog, his bed was completely soiled with urine. He was visibly distressed and peed as soon as he was let outside. The pee was the yellowest I have ever seen. The new owners are very disorganized and put the onus on the customer. When dropping off your pet you would assume the pick-up times agreed upon during this (and previous) interactions would be honored. When our flight was landing in CLT, we received a very rude text claiming we were late to pick up our pet and if we could not make it at a new, specific time a mere 50 minutes in the future, we would forfeit the ability to pick up our pet for the next 26 hours. After hauling to make the pickup, when asked if there was a family emergency or what had contributed to this on the fly change, they detailed the change was made to benefit their family schedules. Excuse me, WHAT? You are telling me the owners decided to change my previously agreed upon pickup time to better benefit their family thus forfeiting my ability to pick up my pet at the previously agreed upon time? This may be acceptable if previously agreed, but to sent a rude text less than 1 hour before the 'new' pickup time to detail the change is completely unacceptable, but this would still not necessarily warrant a 1 star review in my opinion. What started as a simple miscommunication of pick-up times ended with the Owner/Operator, Michael Flippin, charging after us out to our vehicle and preventing me from closing my car door while yelling obscenities' such as 'Dont F*** with my SH**!'. Only backing down after my wife started calling the cops. Then he said he would call the cops on us for trespassing. Dropping your pet off to be taken care of while you are away is always tough, at the very least you should be able to expect they will be cared for. I cannot imagine if Michael treats paying humans like this, how he would treat animals who misbehave. When picking up your animal from boarding you should never feel THREATNED FOR YOUR LIFE from the Owner/Operator of the business you have literally just paid. I feel so sorry for leaving my pet in the care of these incompetent individuals and I implore you to find a new kennel before making the same mistake we did. I am still awaiting the owners apology for this completely unacceptable and childish behavior and once received I will update my review stating the apology has been made.

I looked at the owner's website www.camp-ruff.com which describes their facility as a "lux camp" for dogs and puppies. I was intrigued and called for an appt to view the property and see the operations. I was met by the Camp Director/Owner, a delightful, sincere woman named Lucinda. She greeted me and my dog and proceeded to show me the camp home, which is divided into sections based on the needs and behaviors of the various dogs she was boarding. She listened to my description of my dogs needs, habits and observed her to judge how she would behave w other dogs. One by one she let a dog out from the house, where they have their "sleep over", cautiously to see what my dog would do. As the animals were about my dog's size everyone seemed to accept each other. Great news! Lucinda decided to take the next step by taking my dog w the small pack for some exercise on the trail in the woods behind the house. The dogs were running around having a great time which relieved my anxiety that my dog might not like to be off leash but she was running and getting some great exercise and learning to enjoy the pack mentality. No fighting or misbehaving, perfect! Lucinda works tirelessly to pamper the pooches morning and night. Morning feedings, evening feedings, medications and always careful observations of the pets. They all sleep like happy babies when the day ends in a real home environment. Prices are in line and reasonable I think for an overnight stay of $44 including feeding, walking, playtime and careful observation by someone who is highly qualified and very knowledgeable of pet behavior. All animals come in contact w other pets only when owner has documentation for boarding such as rabies vaccination, bordetello. This place is a well thought out and safe place to leave your precious pet while you are away. So relax, they got your back!

My senior 2 lb Yorkie has a history of cancer and doesn't receive any vaccines due to her history…read more I took her to East Davie to have her injured paw assessed after my regular vet didn't have any immediate appointments available. Upon being taken back to the exam room I was told by the tech that a rabies vaccine is required, with no exceptions, at which time I proceeded to leave. The tech asked me to wait until she spoke with the vet, so I waited 20+ minutes for the vet to come into the room to tell me the same thing; rabies vaccine required, no exceptions. So I left. Upon leaving I asked for the $25 deposit I paid to hold my appointment to be refunded. Was told they would ask the "office manager " and get back to me. They later messaged me saying that they will not be refunding the $25 appointment deposit because I talked to the vet. Seriously. I spoke with the vet for 2 minutes. She never touched my dog. I am in a bit of shock by the way these people do business and plan to let my friends and family know where NOT to take their pets. ALSO OF NOTE: the scale that the tech weighed my dog on was absolutely filthy. After she left the room I cleaned my dog's paws as best I could with tissues. Then used baby wipes to clean them good in the car. I hope and pray a sick animal had not been on that scale prior to her putting my dog on it. It's obvious that they are not concerned about cleanliness. And the fact that communicable diseases are spread like this is concerning. Pet parents beware!
