Ever had sweet potato waffle?! Me neither. Brilliant, right? I mean it's right there in our faces…read morebut we don't compute that maybe you can try to make waffles out of sweet potatoes! But at "Le Kalu" they did. And I have to thank the Afro-Caribbean's for that!
I'm grateful for this find because it's rare to find a place where you sense that blood, sweats, tears and love! have been poured into it. I felt like I was inside the food truck, getting served by newly graduated cooks who were looking at me with eager eyes hoping I would love what they made for me. And it's a good feeling. It's a feeling that conveys, "you and your food are safe here". Now, I do feel like the presentation of the food took the food truck metaphor a bit too far. I prefer a bit more whimsical sight of my food, but that didn't make it any less delicious! Spicy, hot, fuego chicken wings: perfect during this fight against "The Disease No One Wants To Hear About Every Again". Not like I'm used to, but still good. And it's always a good idea to try out "not like I'm used to"-places!
