tl;dr It's been a tough several years for a lot of folks and good mental health services is hard to find, but do not bother with Cara - you are probably better off without her.
Cara is one the least professional providers I have worked with in my adult life. I will not get into details of our therapy sessions for privacy reasons, but over time she has quite consistently given me the impression that she only cares about getting paid and not my actual well being. I joined her for 9 total sessions over 2 months, and am convinced she caused me more stress than relief during that time.
The most egregious aspect of Cara's services is her refusal to assist with insurance reimbursements. In our first session, I made it 100% clear that being reimbursed is important to me, and while she verbally assured me that it would not be an issue, her billing process is unprofessional to the degree of laughable. Instead of issuing proper invoices, she requests her clients pay her via PayPal and generate our own "invoices". Obviously, this means that the invoices will not have any details necessary for an insurance claim (e.g. CPT codes, diagnosis code). When asked, Cara had a very lackluster attitude towards providing that information, and it took her 6 sessions to give me some codes, which turned out to be outdated.
I have asked her to discuss directly with my insurance provider while I was still employing her services, which she outright refused and claimed "it is not part of [her] process". When I tried to get more insurance information from her via email or text, she suggested we talk about it during our next session. After weeks of this kind of back-and-forth, it became clear to me that Cara does not care about my priorities and interests, and she only looks at our interactions from a strictly "my time for your money" business perspective.
After 9 sessions over 2 months, I finally decided to call her out on her lack of professionalism and told her I will not continue to employ her services until and unless I figure out the insurance situation. Instead of responding in a productive way, she again suggested we talk about it in our next session, which I find questionable because she is basically trying to hold me hostage by withholding insurance information unless I continue to set up sessions, and we agreed to stop our sessions. Since then, I have asked my insurance provider to work with her directly, to which she has been generally non-responsive, and more recently outright refused to provide any more information because "she is no longer my therapist".
To sum it up, Cara is very unprofessional and does not have any respect for her clients, and does not deserve the rights bestowed upon her as a licensed therapist. In addition to the above, she has also canceled on me last-minute, and generally been slow to respond to any questions or requests (despite any assurances to the contrary).
So rest assured, my perspective is informed by the holistic experience of working with Cara, and trust me you are better off finding another therapist (or perhaps even on your own). read more
