We do not recommend Akil as a wedding or engagement shoot photographer, and I am writing this…read morereview to warn other brides. · Thursday February 24 - I wrote Akil an email checking in about booking an engagement shoot with him since we had paid our deposit and I figured his weekends in May were getting full. · Saturday February 26 - Akil wrote back asking about May 7th · Saturday February 26 - I said May 7th would be great and asked about having a call a head of time to confirm the details. · Thursday March 3 - Akil asked about having a call the next day. · Tuesday March 8th - Followed up about a call on a different day asking about his availability this week or next. · Thursday April 29th - Had not heard from Akil and asked about a call since our engagement shoot was supposedly agreed for May 7th and we had no real plan in place. · Monday May 2nd - Still had not heard from Akil and the shoot was going to be this week. I emailed Akil and called him trying to follow up. My fiancé sent him a text and he texted him back right away that we were scheduled for May 7th at 8am but would need, to get a permit to shoot a Rice. Both the 8am and permit were surprises for us and 8am would not work for getting ready in the morning. Bottom line: We should never have had to initiate a discussion regarding our engagement shoot or follow up with Akil to get a plan in place. His lack of communication and organization was unprofessional. When I pressed him about his lack of communication to plan our engagement shoot, he told me that he doesn't do that kind of hand holding with his brides. We have since fired him as our photographer, knowing that if this is how he treats engagement shoots, we can't rely on him to be communicative and organized for our wedding. As a previous professional photographer, I know what good service looks like: reliable, communicative, and organized to capture the clients' vision and keep them informed of expectations. While his photos are beautiful, there are photographers in the Houston area that provide a much better experience. If you are considering Akil, save yourself some stress and look elsewhere.

Angie is absolutely phenomenal! My husband and I booked her for our engagement photos and for our…read morewedding day. From the moment she arrived on our first shoot, her commanding yet approachable personality made everything so much easier and fun! Coordinating a large photo with over 300 family members on our special day can be chaotic, but Angie handled it all by herself with grace and authority, making sure everyone was in place quickly and efficiently. I was truly impressed by this specific skill set she has because I've never seen anyone get my family in order so quickly haha. So if you have a large Asian wedding, I highly recommend Angie. Her ability to direct is also a talent of her own. Angie always gave clear, quick, and helpful instructions on how to pose, ensuring every shot looked natural yet polished. She made everyone feel comfortable, and the results were stunning. Best thing is that she directed our poses so efficiently that it left more time to actually take lots of photos! One of Angie's other greatest strengths is her dedication to capturing the bride and groom's vision. We shared a few inspo photos with her, and she went above and beyond to recreate them while adding her creative touch. Her attention to detail and willingness to listen truly set her apart. Not only that, she would always scout out our requested locations ahead of time to optimize the best areas for the shoots and to take into account all the natural lighting she can use to capture the perfect photo. I also want to applaud her for being so organized to fit our timeline while also working with other vendors we hired such as the videographer and our wedding coordinators. She is such a likable person and works well with everyone. Lastly, the turnaround time to receive our photos was so quick. And quality was not sacrificed in the editing whatsoever despite the short time frame. So, if you're looking for a photographer who's talented, organized, and truly invested in bringing your wedding photo dreams to life, Angie is the one. We couldn't be happier with the experience and the gorgeous photos she delivered! We love you Angie!
