Took a half-day trip out on the water last February on one of Captain Rick's boats. It was a mission of the two dudes I was in Tulum with to slay some large fish, and slay we did.
While February is not the greatest season down in this neck of the ol Atlantic river, there are always other fish in the sea. We found a couple of bonito, a wahoo and something else (can't recall) out swimming around. I hauled in a couple, as did the gentlemen I was with. So we definitely got some good action in during our few hours out on the water.
From the front desk staff to the guys piloting the boat, the service ranged from good to okay. Most of our interaction was with the two guys running the boat we were on. They were plenty friendly, didn't mind that we brought our own music, and enjoyed some joking around. But when it came to setting lines and getting our fish on, they took it all seriously. That's appreciated.
Back at the docks, I did feel like we had to kind of argue with the dude a little bit to get more of our fish to take home. However it could have been the language divide. I just felt like they were pretty interested in keeping a bunch for themselves, which is not really how it works (since we did tip in cash).
Overall, I'd roll out with this outfitter again. read more
