While I'm sure the dumpster service is convenient, whoever's driving their trucks is dangerous. On 8/6/25, a Captain Hook truck carrying a dumpster came barreling down Westmoor Dr at way too high a speed. They then ran the stop sign at Broadmoor Dr, only slowing down to stop at the red light at Cameron Rd. But instead of waiting for the light to turn green, they waited only a few seconds and then ran the red. I tried calling the company later but just got a "we're currently closed" message. read more

You're not an Austinite until the house next door turns into an unpermitted flip. The noise, the trash, the ongoing construction. That said, I have lived next to more than a few. Recently, a Captain Hook dumpster appeared on the driveway next door. I feared the worst, having seen the worst already, in several neighborhoods. HOWEVER, I have been really pleased with Captain Hook. The first dumpster was filled to the top in a day, and when they came to switch the dumpster out, the truck driver removed the full container from the driveway and placed it on the street with the same care you'd give laying a newborn on a changing table - and not a single piece of drywall fell out! Similarly, I didn't hear a thing when the new container was placed in the driveway. No boom, nothing. These people are pros. I am not currently in the market for dumpster services, but if I was, I would definitely call Captain Hook. If only every flip I need to live through used these guys. read more

It was time to tear down a rickety old shed in the backyard and build a solid replacement. Getting all the supplies to the house was no problem, but what to do with the debris from the old one? At first, we thought about one of those "soft-side" dumpsters that they sell at Lowe's. Good idea, but not nearly big enough for an 8' x 10' shed. Called a bigger waste company and the smallest thing they had was a HUGE 14-yard construction roll-away. Way too big. Captain Hook to the rescue! Called Ron on a wednesday afternoon, and Friday morning there was a 10-yard construction dumpster sitting in the driveway. Delivery was on-time and professional (Amazing to watch a real pro back up a truck and deposit a 10-yard container perfectly between the house and a parked car) Come Tuesday, we'd filled the container with construction debris and some tree trimmings and called for a Wednesday pickup. Couldn't be happier with the service. Highly recommended if you have a DIY project and need to have some waste hauled away. read more
