The Captain Cook Bridge does not look like anything special but it is heavily used by Brisbane traffic. The Bridge connects the M3 with the Pacific Motorway and is the path to take if you are heading to Wooloongabba or further south from the CBD.
The Captain Cook Bridge opened in 1972 and is purely a vehicle traffic bridge. If you need to walk or cycle across the river then the Goodwill Bridge is not to far away. When driving across Captain Cook, I hardly feel like I am on a bridge at all. The design is simplistic and it really is a functional Brisbane Bridge rather than an appealing landmark like the Story Bridge for example. The bridge has four lanes of traffic in either direction so it really does just feel like an extension of the motorway. Still, it does make travel that little bit more convenient. read more
