Uber

Uber

I have had an account with Uber for around 6 months without a problem until recently…read more Whilst I've often thought about using Uber Eats, I've never done so. On checking my credit card statement recently, I noticed 10 charges totalling $553 from Uber Eats. These charges were spread out over a two week period. Immediately I cancelled my credit card with the bank & contacted Uber via their app on my phone, as it is impossible to contact them in any other way. On contacting Uber, they were helpful & sympathetic & promised to look into immediately. Initially they asked whether I was aware of a person called Christina, another Uber member, that had apparently used my credit card details on her Uber account to purchase 10 different food orders through Uber Eats. It would seem that if you have an Uber account, you also have an Uber Eats account. I said I did not know anyone called Christina, nor had I authorised anyone else to use my credit card or Uber account. Within a day, Uber messaged me telling me that they had investigated the issue & the money would be paid back into my account within a week (which they did). Whilst I was happy with this outcome, I was curious & concerned how this could have happened in the first place & what could be done to catch the perpetrator. Uber advised that this could have been caused by a person capturing our credit card details from a scanner or similar & that another Uber account holder (Christina) had the identical payment details as me. In other words, the other person had been able to set up an account with my credit card. Whilst I couldn't get a straight answer from Uber, it would seem that more than one person or user can use the same credit card to open & operate a Uber account. This makes me wonder how many accounts a person could potentially operate with a stolen or copied card. My question is this; as Uber have my credit card details already, shouldn't their system flag a problem when another member is using my credit card? It would seem not. The other question I had for Uber is what were they going to do about it. I would have thought, as a minimum, they would contact police, as they possess all the information that would be needed to track this person down. Apparently not. Uber referred me to the terms & conditions area on their website, which says that this is not something Uber are prepared to do, that is up to the individual to pursue. Rather than contact police, Uber immediately cancel the offending persons account, which obviously alerts them that there is a problem. I asked Uber several times why they aren't interested in playing a part in catching offenders, they replied by saying that this would be against their privacy policy. I would have liked to follow the matter up with police, but the running around would surely mean me taking a day off work, which isn't feasible at present. I remain very disappointed with this outcome. In my opinion, Uber have not fulfilled their civic duty by reporting this to police & certainly don't give me an confidence in trusting them with my credit card details in the future

With all the hype about uber ride share app , I thought I would try it out. It is basically hitch…read morehiking for money. Anyway it was a busy Friday night at about 1230 am (ok Saturday morning) , so I went through the rigmarole of downloading and installing the ap, cancelling my antivirus advices about intrusive permissions and free access to credit card and called up a car. At first the ap kept advising no car available, then after about 15 minutes it found one that was going to take 12 mins to pick up. Actually took about 20 but ok,.. then the fare was actually 2 times what the estimate had been when no car was available. I talked to the driver who explained that when it got busy, the price goes up. oooh So , I said this is like an uber taxi? NO , he just picks up people in his own private car and uber do all the money including a 20% comission for them. Hmmm, so you do have like special commercial insurance and registration so we are all covered properley if something goes wrong. No, Uber says we just have to have private insurance. Anyway the whole thing seems dodgy as, and my research since has proved that this is very cntroversial in most of the US and downright illegal in Australia. I have since done a lot of research and have uninstalled the app and watch on as this car wreck unfolds, vowing to never use this service until I hear from Qld government that it is legit.

Golden Gate Limos

Golden Gate Limos

We booked Golden Gate Limos for our wedding on the 2nd of July 2022. We were advised via email…read morecommunication that the following were guaranteed and I quote the email below: 'Guaranteed - Unlimited distance, unlimited number of pick-ups / drop-offs and unlimited photo locations / stops....All yours.... Your wedding package includes - Ribbon (custom colours available no extra charge), tulle, wheel covers, red carpet, 3 bottles of Jacob's Creek champagne, glasses, ice, chilled water & soft drinks, corkage, service and full attention by your fully uniformed chauffeur / butler and of course GST all included.... Everything you could need for your wedding transport, all included.' When my limo arrived, the Driver did not say hello, introduce himself or even smile. He was very short at instructing me how to sit down in the limo. Arriving at the church he realised that one of the vehicle's doors was jammed and would not open. We were one door down, which meant that I had to walk out first and manage my wedding dress on my own in the rain before the bridesmaids got out. It also meant that following the ceremony, the wedding party had to enter at one end of the limo and crawl their way to the seats on the other side. I understand that things can go wrong. What we did not appreciate is the driver's reaction. He did not even apologise for the inconvenience and was constantly grumbling. At the end of the service we walked out through the exit of the Church, and expected that the driver would simply drive to us, as it was a wet day. Instead the driver just sat in the vehicle about 20-30 meters away in the Church carpark. Seeing no reaction from him, the Groom had to walk over to him and ask him to drive the limo to the exit. The driver replied with a flat "No". When the Groom then said to the driver, "So, do you expect the bride to walk in the rain carrying her dress to come over to you instead of you driving to the exit to pick everyone up and leave via the exit", the driver responded "Well, if you move this (pointing at a nearby guest car that was parked) and that (pointing at another guest car parked), then I will drive to pick you up". The Groom organised for the cars to be moved and we finally were able to crawl into the limo. The driver just stood there and barked instructions regarding the wheel cover. He was neither proactive nor courteous, and it seemed that if the groom hadn't walked over to where he was, we would be standing there a long time! When, again, the Groom enquired about the fact that the only drinks available were a few water bottles (not even enough for 1 each), the driver responded with a curt "Nothing. That's not included with this". This is completely incorrect. This email/review is not about getting a couple of complimentary $10 Jacob's Creek bottles - although it was guaranteed that we would have 3 bottles and soft drinks - this is entirely about the lack of service and attitude of the driver. If we had have known in advance that drinks were not included (even though we paid for them), we would have arranged our own refreshments. To summarise, to hire a Golden Gate Limo limo for 3 hrs cost us $699, and we received a vehicle with a jammed door, a rude driver with no chauffeur skills and no customer service or refreshments. Sometimes, a few minor things might go wrong with a service, but a smile, kind words and politeness go a long way to smoothing these little rough patches for clients. We would not, however, categorise the behaviour of the driver and lack of paid-for services, as 'minor things'. Accordingly, as a result of our experiences on an important (and supposed-to-be-fun) occasion, we would certainly not recommend Golden Gate Limos to anyone looking for a comfortable, courteous, prepared, relaxed and enjoyable transport experience.
