There is a water front too and people were fishing and a whole lot of ducks were on their evening flying routine..... Its a small park, with considerable parking. The walking paths have recently been upgraded to asphalt rather than packed clay, and there are a couple of hiking trails through the forested areas to enjoy as well. Closes around dusk and the constables do pass through and nudge folks out before closing. Locking gates were also recently added. My dog enjoys our walks here especially when she sniffs out the occasional deer or rabbit that live along Cypress Creek. If you do the whole loops the walking path is about 2.5 miles.

We only saw the botanical garden side and didn't have time to do the other side which was across the road but the garden alone, if truly appreciated, was 2.5 hours to do. Summer time i visited as early as they were open 8 am best time. There's just so much to see. We saw a quite a few people doing photo shoots and even one guy said he visits for bird watching. Very clean and spacious ( no outside food is allowed) with a lot of seating areas. I love the fact that it's free entry and also the ample parking.

The Woodlands Waterway is another major part of the unofficial downtown center of the Woodlands…read more It's composed of a riverwalk starting by Landry's and meandering through restaurants, hi rise condos, three story beautiful Brownstone homes and upscale office buildings via a walk way for runners and people just strolling. The driveway entrances to many public restaurants and businesses are hidden. Anytime is a great time to visit the Waterway but I have two favorite times. In Spring during free concert time and Christmas. Every year in March and April the picturesque Water Way Square comes alive by the smaller pavilion for free (not The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion) 'Live at Night Concert Series' :)! It's great for the entire family and brings a variety of local and regional musicians to Waterway Square on Saturday evenings from 6-8pm. It's located along Waterway Ave. Waterway Square is a public plaza with unique colorful water features, varying amounts of color lit trees and a green area surrounded by a good variety of restaurant bars up the hill. Picnics, chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome but check each year in case of changed rules. At Christmas time it's so beautiful with all the trees lit and they are synchronized in different beautiful color pattens. Sometimes if possible get outdoor seating with the heat warmers at the surrounding restaurants and relax with your favorite cocktail. ***Just be careful you have a designated driver because I have seen the Sherrif parked right around the corner of a few restaurants. There are more things to do especially if you have kiddos. You might want to take them to the light changing splash pad with water shooting out of the circular lil fountains. Bring towels or air dry :)! Just come anytime really fit a fun day eating at the many restaurants, bars, for a walk or just being outside of a sunny day :). I have attached an older picture of where to park. Plus a couple other. More are to be found under pics and won't tie in probably because they are over 6 months. There are many local and international people visiting The Woodlands Waterway. So try not to feel lost. It's actually very easy to find your way around. The walking area along the waterway is super clean and well-kept; a perfect spot to have a conversation with a friend or customer, go on a walk (I went on multiple while there), and/or go on a jog/run. There are a bunch of restaurants and bars along the waterway as well. I highly recommend checking it out especially if you are within walking distance.

I've hiked here in every kind of weather all year long. I love how there is always something new to see and its so wonderful to live in the city but so close to a place where you can go and not even hear a car. I've seen owls, alligators, wild boar, deer, snakes, and so many different kids of birds. I've lived all over the country as we used to be a military family and this was a hard move for me, initially. I'm not near any of my family here, and I had been living near mountains or the ocean my entire adult life. But I've grown to love the bayou wildlife and scenery as well.
