Avoid staying at Villa d'Amato Hotel…read more
This hotel is extremely outdated, dirty, and poorly maintained. When we arrived, there was an unused cigarette left directly on one of the beds and two used water bottles from previous guests still sitting in the room. Clearly the room was not cleaned properly before check-in. The bathroom smelled like a sewer the entire stay, and the half-door shower design caused water to spray everywhere across the bathroom floor.
The customer service was even worse than the cleanliness. We politely brought the cigarette and dirty room issues to the front desk, and instead of apologizing, the long-haired male employee told us it "wasn't a big deal" and kept making excuses for the cleaning staff. He acted like we were overreacting and gave us attitude the entire conversation. He reluctantly mentioned switching rooms, but clearly did not want to help. When he finally told us which room to move to, we walked in and found housekeeping still cleaning it at almost 6 PM.
The AC did not work at all. Because the room was unbearably hot, we had no choice but to sleep with the balcony/door open. There were no screens, so I got completely eaten alive by mosquitoes all night.
The walls are also paper thin and you can hear any and everything.
Overall, this hotel felt dirty, poorly managed, and unprofessional. Between the filthy room, broken AC, rude staff, and lack of accountability, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. I would absolutely not recommend staying here.
