Breakfast was delicious and generous, beautifully presented and impeccably served by Anthony, the simpatico founder and owner. His kind wife Maureen bakes muffins, coffee cakes and cookies from scratch, and they are marvelous. Instead of a huge flat screen tv dominating the room, the tv was just the right size -and included are Netflix and Amazon Prime. We look forward to our next stay at The Tower Cottage.

On our return at midnight, i noticed they put us in a handicap room, which had no bathroom vanity, bed was low to the floor and smaller than queen size. Walls in bathroom were dirty and in the morning found a stink bug in the coffee cup. We were on the first floor, end room, so we heard the outside door slamming all night. If it wasn't midnight, i would have immediately requested a change in rooms. The bartender in the lounge was not happy to be there. Many of the guests said the same thing the next day. The seltzer or ice had a disgusting taste which everyone was also talking about. Maybe the lines have not been cleaned in the soda dispensers. Overall i would rate this hotel a ZERO.

This happened to a few other people as well. They said their systems were down, but I still don't understand how they could mess up so badly. The bride's parents went to their room which they checked into earlier today and saw that someone else had put their stuff into that room, which is just a nightmare. The hotel told us they could put us in another hotel about a half hour away, but told us we'd have to pay for our own taxi to get there. There's also a shuttle from here to the wedding venue tomorrow, which the other hotel won't have. I don't think I'll ever stay at a Radisson again after this experience.

Our check-in was smooth but the front desk clerk wasn't really friendly but not rude either. Our room had a kitchenette and a desk area. Everything was clean. The bed was ok. The bathroom had 1/2 a roll of toilet paper and we had to go to the front desk to get more. (As we were leaving, another roll was on a shelf that we couldn't see). We did not utilize housekeeping so can't speak on that. The complimentary breakfast was blah and the coffee wasn't great but it is free. Honestly, there's 500 Dunkin's, Starbucks and local spots to get better coffee. Do yourself a favor and drive the 10 minutes to Town Bagels and Grill. Get yourself a bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel (I just go for the egg everything bagel). There is a small outdoor pool on the property that is well maintained. But, a staff member has to unlock the gate (even though there is a card reader on the gate). There is a small laundry room with washers and dryers. They did the job. And a small workout room that I did use once. The hotel itself is not in a walkable area. But the boardwalk is a 15-20 min drive away. I'd stay here again but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Expecting the usual penne, we were surprised when angel-hair pasta arrived. Our little girl had never tried it before, so we requested a substitution. Although our waitress explained that angel hair was the only pasta they typically have, she returned moments later to let us know the chef was going to get penne just for us. There were a microwave, a mini fridge, and a TV in the room. The shower in the room was good. I found the bed and pillows mildly uncomfortable but it was just the one night and fine. Our room was right around the corner from the reception desk, and right across the hall from the laundry room, with windows open to the parking lot, but aside from 1 very loud conversation in the hallway right after we went to bed, it was quiet enough. The ambiance of the hotel is cute, reminiscent of an older era, nicely decorated. Of course Colt's Neck was (maybe still is) known for horses, hence the name. For me, the highlight was actually the next morning after we checked out - it's barely a half mile from the Central NJ famed Delicious Orchards. We drove back to NYC with more than 5 lbs of fresh autumn apples, a fantastic apple turnover, and a pkg of apple cider donuts!
