It wasn't too busy when I stayed, so it had a pretty quiet and calm vibe, which I liked. They have a pool where you can hang out and relax, but it was honestly too hot for me to enjoy it lol. The beach also isn't too far away if you want to head out that way instead. Service was just okay. I called down once to request a few items, and it took a while for them to bring everything up. They also forgot the toothpaste, so I had to call again and wait for another delivery. Nothing too crazy, but definitely could've been better. Overall, my two-night stay was comfortable and quiet. I wouldn't mind staying here again if I was in the area, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

They offered a pass to a nearby gym but I didn't feel like leaving the hotel and then hassling with giving the gym a bunch of personal info just to do a workout, knowing there would be sales calls in the weeks to follow. 4 stars but -1 for the pillows and lack of onsite gym with no prior notification

Went to breakfast this morning and still only one staff member at buffet. Not a good look here if customers must bus tables and advertised buffet is lacking items.

I checked it twice because it didn't seem right, but I'm thankful that it was. I imagine we are your prime audience at this location: family coming to visit an older relative in Laguna Woods. Second, the breakfast bar was seriously close to five-star hotel because you had an actual omelette chef! What a delight! tho I didn't choose an omelette my one morning here, a fresh omelette makes a five-star breakfast bar! Our rooms were also spacious and clean, and the front desk staff was friendly and got us rooms right across from each other -thanks for that attention to detail.

I did use the fitness center, and I was genuinely impressed. It's one of the first hotel gyms I've visited that had everything needed for a solid workout without making me want to find a local gym. It was small but thoughtfully equipped, exceptionally clean, organized, and all of the equipment was in great condition. Breakfast was another pleasant surprise. Instead of just the typical hotel buffet, they had a staff member at the breakfast station preparing and serving the hot foods, which was a really nice touch and made the breakfast feel a bit more special. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely look for this hotel chain again the next time we travel.

The room also smelled very musty, and to make matters worse, we woke up with multiple bites on our legs that looked like they could be from bed bugs. We were so uncomfortable and concerned that we could barely sleep. Now we're worried that we may have brought bed bugs home with us. When we brought our concerns to the front desk, the employee told us there was nothing she could do and that we needed to email the manager. We emailed the manager and still have not received a response. This is completely unacceptable, especially for paying guests. At the very least, management should acknowledge the situation and address serious cleanliness and pest concerns. Do better and take care of your guests. I would not recommend staying here.

When I first arrived, I had called ahead to let them know I'm in a wheelchair and needed a first floor room. I booked and paid for my reservation online. When I arrived one hour later they told me they gave the room to another lady who "just had surgery" and needed a first floor room. It wasn't a good start, they apologized to me without any attempt to rectify it. I had to press the issue before they would look and was able to find me a room. During my stay I unexpectedly needed to extend my reservation. It was difficult to do that and it required me to have to change rooms. Because it was unexpected I asked for their assistance to move my luggage to the new room. They had a luggage cart so it made the task easier, But they seemed like it was a burden. They weren't happy at all and one of them was giving me a bad look. They put me in a room that had water damage and smelled like sewage and mold and then wanted to charge me $400 a night(to make me leave?) so I left. They had put me on the do not return list after that. I was a frequent guest for years and never needed their assistance before, and they barred me from returning because I asked them for assistance on just this one visit. Lovely Freda doesn't let up for a moment regarding hospitality. From her quaint and airy abode, to her incredible genuinely out-of-this-world cooking - there is no question whatsoever that I will be back at the Always Inn the next time I am in San Clemente. We rented a two bedroom two bath unit and stayed there with our grandson and his parents, so five of us plus our dog. YES, they are dog friendly! Yeah!! Very comfortable, plenty of privacy, two patios, etc. Not a single complaint. We just loved it. And the location cannot be beat. It is directly across the street from Strand Beach Park where the views are fantastic and you can walk down the steps to one of the nicest beaches in Southern CA. The first day, they were installing a dishwasher next door and the water was off for a couple of hours. Jeff, the manager from Vacation Concierge came the next day with a plate of cookies and his apologies. None were needed, as it was not a big inconvenience, but it showed evidence of someone who actually cares about his customers. We appreciated it. We will definitely stay again.
