Cute candy shop in Capitola. Small storefront with candy bins to self serve on each side when you walk in. They also had a fridge with various sugary sodas and additional shelving with box and bar candies. By the cash register there was a nice chocolate display case with lots of truffles and other chocolate candies to choose from. The staff were friendly and helpful. read more

I loved this cute candy shop and its variety while walking around Capitola for the first time. If you don't pay attention, you'd completely miss it but it definitely adds to its appeal. The person at the counter was extremely nice and even gave me a pin! Candy variety is awesome which included Swedish candy which I've been trying to find and Dubai chocolate for my friend. Many selections of candies. The price goes off by weight fyi. It can add up pretty quick but you can get as much or as little of any mixture of candy you want. Super nice people work there. I love going in getting some candy sometimes and just taking a peaceful stroll around the adorable beach town. read more

We got a chocolate nut covered caramel apple. The service was great and the nice man offered to slice up our delicious apple, awesome. I only took off a star because the prices weren't listed for the apples which is not good policy in my opinion, be transparent with the prices so the people can decide. Was strolling through the village and happened upon this candy shop. The capitola candy cafe has a solid selection of candy and just stepping inside made me feel like a kid again. I was impressed by the sheer number of sour ribbon flavors they had (those are my favorite!). I even got to try a few flavors I've never seen before. Customer service was also top notch, the owner was very friendly and fun to chat with. Anytime I'm in need of a candy fix this will be my go to spot. read more

Absolutely loved this place! I was walking towards the beach and I kept seeing people with Boba drinks in their hand. I had to ask where they got it from. They said, "the candy shop with the octopus" I searched and found it. They were so nice!! The price is great for boba. And chocolate! I got a 16oz green tea, with Boba, and peach syrup 25% sweet (super good) And rocky road chocolate. It was delicious. Great people! Thanks guys! read more

Still our favorite candy store in town. Beautifully remodeled. Excellent selection with really reasonable price. On top of all, awesome and friend owner! Omg. Cadbury crunchie!!!!! Have you guys try this? If you love chocolate w toffee or crunchy texture, you should try this. We had it from gourmet European grocery before and I'm surprised to see it at Capitola Candy Store. But the best part is the affordability, at least compared to other candy shops in tourist hotspots. Stopped here during the Capitola Sio and Stroll. We had great service from the manager and the associate working. We tasted some of their dark chocolate sea salt carmel chocolates while we were there and loved it. We ended up taking some of the dark chocolate covered honey combs to go. They were also amazing! This is really more of a beachside bodega than a full-on candy shop. Very small with a couple of delicious candies you grew up with, some homemade taffy, and other miscellaneous non-candy items. Really nice people working here, but less of a major candy shop. read more

I'm thrilled that Capitola Candy Cafe is open again - and looking great with a redone interior! I was excited to see that they've expanded to include coffee/food options along with candy offerings. This morning I tried their mocha and masala chai latte, and was not disappointed. The chai latte was excellent. Great blend of spices and balance of sweetness - my new favorite! Can't wait to try their food offerings next time. Candy selection is smaller (no bulk bins) but has some excellent choices - I was especially happy to see Japanese Kit-Kats (4 different ones) as I LOVE trying out different flavors. But the best part of Capitola Candy Cafe has to be the people. Everyone is so welcoming and Rodney, especially, is so incredibly warm and friendly. Happy to discuss the virtues of wonderful chai, chocolate and fun new future food offerings. read more

I'm addicted to the quiche here! Great stop for your espresso drink and a quick bite to eat. Rodney is super picky about his ingredients, lucky for his customers! With 72 hours notice, the Capitola Candy Company was able to deliver to me 80 caramel apples and chocolate covered rice krispy treats with my theme colors - shiny and sparkly! Can't beat the quality, the friendliness of service and the delivery - everything was packaged well for transport and display! Loved the treats and the staff! read more

Had a few hours to kill so I made my way to Capitola Beach. Normally that's where I stay but today I wondered around the village and found this candy store. It was such a pleasant surprise because I needed to get candy to fill my sons Christmas Advent calendar. The owner was so nice and helpful. I grabbed a bag and filling it with candles from the bins (an assortment of gummies and other candies). The best part was after I made my purchase the owner offered to individually wrapped each one so I could put it in the calendar. He said he would need about 15 minutes so I wondered around and came back to find them in a cute box all wrapped up!! Customer service at its best! If you needs a Christmas gift this is the place to go! Treats for the holidays! I'll be back for sure!! read more

I LOVE this candy shop. In a tourist location, it comes with tourist prices. However, he has a wonderful selection of fresh candy, and reasonable prices despite the location. Rodney is extremely friendly, and make his own chocolate and taffy. Try his Carmel Apple Boat! He makes the carmel himself and it is divine. He caters to both locals and tourists, and as a local he runs a business great for the community. He gets mostly tourists, but if you are a local, let him know! He's great to talk to. We return here everytime we have dinner in the village or out walking our dog. read more

One of the best things about living in Capitola Village is getting to know all of the amazing shop owners, and Rodney at Capitola Candy Cafe is a perfect example. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and cares about his customers and community. The shop is spotless and filled with super fun treats including the chocolates he makes himself. Candy Land...aka The Jelly Belly Store is a little treasure trove of everything sweet for you to eat. Kind of like a mini version of a Powells, there is a TON of candy packed in here, even old-school stuff like those pink and white striped coconut rectangle chewy candies I used to eat a ton of when I was younger...when my metabolism was a lot faster! They also have a bunch of Jelly Belly flavors, colored M&M's..yum yum!!! Specialty chocolate as well. Chocolate in downtown Santa Cruz is the place to go. There is a charming outdoor patio with flower beds and striped awnings, reminiscent of old Paris. Water was served in a wine bottle (cute detail) and little shapely glasses. The Parisian feel continued with the round tables and small chairs as well as the neon-lit signs. The menu was vast with savory dinner and lunch items, wines, cocktails, an entire page of hot cocoas and mochas.... and of course an entire section dedicated to chocolate desserts! My daughter and I shared 2 desserts: a chocolate soufflé layered with chocolate cake and cherries and dulce de leche cake. The service was swift and friendly, and most importantly, the cakes were decadent! They were perfectly moist and weren't too sweet. We both thought the Dulce de Leche cake was our favorite because we could taste the cake more and the subtle vanilla hints were nice. It paired well with my tea. It starts by them using quality ingredients. They use Marianne's vanilla ice cream, and Valrhona chocolate (a French chocolate used by gourmet chefs). You can choose milk chocolate or dark. They have a bunch of options for what you can include in your bar, including chopped almonds, caramel, and marshmallow. My favorite is #4: dark chocolate with caramel and marshmallow. It is insanely good. After each bite I am thinking "oh my god this is good." Frankly I am glad it is in Santa Cruz (and not in my town) or I might be 50 lbs heavier. I just had one yesterday and the experience is still vivid. Oh, and their chocolates (which also use Valrhona chocolate) are also damn good. And if you like brownies they've got you covered too. The guys running this place could not be nicer, which makes this place a joy to visit. This is really an exceptional place to come to and we are lucky to have it in our area. I didn't mind at first because there were two other employees standing at the front, so I assumed one of them would help us. Instead, we stood there for several minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I understand if the other employees weren't assigned to the register, but what bothered me was that no one even took a second to say, "We'll be with you shortly." A simple acknowledgment goes a long way and would have made a big difference. The lack of customer service and communication made us feel ignored so we just ended up leaving and went some place else. As someone who has supported this business for a long time, it was disappointing. I hope management addresses this because good customer service is just as important as the product itself.

After taking our drink orders, were immediately asked if we were ready to order our entrées. My wife and daughters ordered the Steak au Poivre. The steaks were under-seasoned and were not cooked to the requested temperatures. There seemed to be more emphasis on achieving prominent grill marks than developing a proper crust. Additionally, a staff member cleared my nephew's plate before he had finished eating. He's younger and didn't feel comfortable speaking up at the time, but he later told us he was still working on his meal. Given that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, I expected a higher level of service and more attentive staff training. That said, even with these shortcomings, I will definitely return. The restaurant itself and the surrounding grounds are truly remarkable and worth a visit on their own. I trust the food and service issues we experienced were outliers. They have a lot of Assorted Coffees it was hard to choose. I ended up ordering a hot Mocha and I loved every sip. I was in town and I love I,d haunted places and he gave ,e written direction to a real spooky one. The guy even let me go five cents short on candy. But the icing on the cake for me was watching a young lady working the waffle cone maker, mess with her hair to put it up into a bun.... and then go back to making waffle cones again, without washing her hands or putting on gloves.
