Called to get an appointment, was in a LOT of pain and my regular DDS stated I needed a root canal…read more Woman calls back a few days later, tells me they can get me in for a "consult". But she can't get me in for 2 weeks. Will get me in if there is a cancellation. She called the next day. I couldn't make it. We did "discuss" my consult. I assured her any other day was good. She called. They can fit me in Monday, but they need $80 from me. "Don't you file with my insurance?" "Yes we do but" I called MetLife to make sure this "consult" was covered, mentioned that Dr Loftis wanted $80 from me PLUS what they were paying. "What? What for? For a consult?" I'm a retired RN and I can't answer WHY they want $80+ the amount from MetLife. The Rep figures out my Deductible: "No, for a Consult & Plan of Care, we allow $85, you should only be paying $7 Have them call us". $80 to talk to any medical professional on my plans is a Scam. The Rep suggested a different DDS, He's RIGHT!

There was the usual paperwork to complete, but as soon as I was finished, Dr. Tupta saw me and assessed the situation. He was kind and soft-spoken and clearly understood what was going on. By the time I left the office he had booked an appointment for me with a highly rated Charleston endodontist who could handle the task of a relatively complicated root canal. Dr. Tupta asked me to return to his office as soon as the RC procedure was complete, and he would work me in for a permanent filling of the treated tooth. I am a certified "dentaphobe," thanks to a traumatic experience during my first dental appointment as a child (think the Steve Martin character in "Little Shop of Horrors"), but the way I was treated by Dr. Tupta and his office personnel gave me no qualms about returning to his office to have the procedure completed.

This was the first time in a long time, I had gone to the dentist to get cleaning without laughing gas. Was super chill and I didn't stress at all... until The X-Rays discovered a cavity. Time to freak out!! I was scheduled a day later with Dr. Matt, 3 shots later and he was off to fixing my cavity, I was super numb and did feel anything. He explained that it was deep and that more steps might be required, he was very professional. After A little bit of work, he did final X-Ray to make sure he got all the bad out, after he was pleased with his work, He filled the cavity. Then explained to me the very good news that I still had a lot of healthy tooth and this should do it. All the staff was in a great mood, and seemed to be enjoying the day! A lot of laughter in the office, was a good atmosphere. I have an appointment in February for cleaning , should be no problem for me.
