My car was towed through my fault entirely, and I am not blaming them for the tow itself, but for context, I didn't park in any a-hole spots like a handicap stall or a turning lane lol But they towed my car and when I called them for information so I could figure out how this works, the lady on the phone was incredibly rude and short with me. When I arrived, I needed to get my registration from my car, so I went and grabbed it and since my car was parked so far away from the office, I moved it closer so I wouldn't need to walk all the way down to get it. When I got back into the office, she snapped at me and told me that I was not supposed to do that, to which I stated that I didn't know, and she pointed out a sign in a dusty plastic holder on the wall, with small and extremely faded letters and said "I could charge you double." Mind you, I'm stressed because my car got towed and I'm not wealthy by any means, so I've clearly been crying and I don't look like some snobby lady coming in to yell at people for towing my car, I'm just a young adult whose never done this before. But she basically threatened to charge me double, which was insane. Anyway, I give her proof of registration, she snaps at me again to tell me that's not what she needs for verification, calls to verify with the dmv or whatever, then asks for payment. I asked multiple questions about paying on the phone before I arrived, and she never mentioned it, nor did I see any signs, but she snapped at me again to tell me it was cash only. I asked if there was an ATM nearby and luckily there was one behind me in the same room lol but I was annoyed I wasn't told on one of the two phone calls to bring cash. Ultimately, in a time of stress and overwhelm, customer service makes a lot of difference in how a person perceives a business. I think they would seriously benefit from better customer service and more empathetic staff in the office, and better signage around the office for rules that may seriously impact a person's costs. This is not typically a planned expense and it certainly wasn't very comfortable for myself and my husband financially. I will give credit where credit is due, and say that they were efficient and the problem was resolved as soon as I found out where my car was in the first place. The first red flag should've been the lady in the office who unabashedly smokes her cigarettes at the desk--the place reeks. After my car was totaled by a careless driver, the City of Lincoln PD responded to the accident and recommended this as the tow company because the City contracts with them. Capital Towing treated me like I'd done something illegal when I went to retrieve my belongings, meanwhile engaging in business practices that are questionable at best and unlawful at worst. When I went in, I explained what happened and that I was there to retrieve the stuff from my car. Cigarette lady passed over a document, which she said I needed to sign to get my things, and had me sign it. Astoundingly, Miss Cig then tried to say it was a contract and I had no right to my stuff. She then said the bigger question (as compared to whether I could get things like my school materials and garage door opener) was how we'd pay the $7 a day charge for storing my car there. She was rude, manipulative, and disrespectful. She ultimately refused to let me get my belongings; I never got anything in my car back. In fact, I never saw my car again. It was not unsafe or difficult to enter. To be clear, I did nothing illegal and the other driver's insurance took care of the car. And, most importantly, they ensured Capital Towing got that $7/day fee. Then, I had to give Capital Towing my "permission" to give my car over to insurance and she tried to say I had to find a way across town and do it in person. I was stern, told her that wasn't happening and they had no right to withhold my car, and suddenly an email was fine. This experience was so unbelievable. Wild. If you must deal with these people, be firm and do not let them take advantage of you because they WILL try and seem to enjoy it. For obvious reasons, I do NOT recommend Capital Towing. read more

My car was all on my behalf but the absolute verbal assault that was received from the tow guy himself, was by far the most inappropriate unprofessional thing I have ever encountered. If you do any business with this place; you better be willing to sign over your title! This place will take every last penny. I'm on disability and they towed my vehicle from my residence at Fountain Glen. This happened while out of town on bereavement. Came home and they made me sign over my vehicle TODAY June 30, 2023. They did this because I didn't have the money to pay the $30 a day they charged to store it plus the tow charge. They said that I could sign over my Jeep in order to pay the cost of their towing and storage. I was left with no other choice! This vehicle was taken directly outside where I reside! He pulled my car out of the garage, charged me $50 for the jump and said it didn't need a tow. I had no idea the car had a tire so flat that it couldn't drive the car. I noticed the second that I drove a foot, I called to ask them to come back around and they said they would charge me for the entire price of a tow even though their technician didn't catch the issue and said it didn't need a tow. Had the misfortune of having my car towed from a friend's apartment complex for having it parked there more than 48 hours. I went out to Capital Towing and picked it up that same evening (9:00 pm). Only made it to downtown Lincoln before the brake warning light came on. Got out and checked & found that brake fluid was streaming out from around the rear driver side wheel - got it home quick as I could. Called Capital & informed them of the issue. They sent a driver out the next day to look at it and he said he "really can't tell anything, but took pictures anyway and that they should be contacting me about it. A week went by and I called them, they apologized for not calling me back which was an innocent mix-up on their end. But they said the way they hooked up the vehicle had no bearing on the damage to the brake lines. I explained that the brake lines from and back were replaced within the last 2 years and had the receipt to verify - but this fell on deaf ears. One hell of a coincidence! If you ever get towed by Capitol - best to pick your vehicle up in broad daylight and have your mechanic with you before you leave the property!!! read more

Shady company. My car was towed and they would not let me get it back. They will only accept cash--can't be traced. They claimed they did not have a copy of the ticket, so I would have to get it from the agency which was closed all weekend. Their storage fees multiply daily, so it is in their best interest to keep the car as long as possible. I approximate at least 100 cars in the lot. If each was there for 2 additional days at $12 a day per car in cash....you do the math! Any governmental or educational or law enforcement agency that uses their services should take a closer look at the business and their practices. read more

I was in a no-parking from 5:30am - whenever overnight because I didn't want to drink and drive. I was towed, rightfully so and I won't argue that. BUT these assholes had not recorded that they had towed me, and verbally told me that my car was not in their lot. So, where's my car? I filed a police report after checking all the lots in town, and they also told me that there was no record at all of my vehicle being towed. I called them at 9:30am to have my car towed home. They told me ETA would be around 90-120 minutes. At 1:00pm(210 minutes later) they finally arrived to tow the car home. The driver hooked the car from the front when it should have been hooked from the back due to low front bumper. When he got the car home and started to unhook it, it got stuck on my bumper and broke part of it. I was furious. The driver said it didnt matter because he had pictures before of all the scratches on the bottom of the bumper. Took him 2 tries and hitting my bumper numerous times before he actually got it unhooked. I will never use this company again read more

Came here after my friend got his car towed and pulled up to the gates. There are signs on these gates that say not to enter the lot with an arrow pointing to the office side of the lot that said parking. Well it turns out we had misunderstood where we were supposed to park. When my friend went to go check in, one of the employees angrily came out and yelled at me for parking where I did. He told me I needed to get out and suggested that I wouldn't have made the mistake if I had read the signs (which I did, it was just a mistake) the man continued to yell and be a total jerk so we kindly apologized and walked away. We then parked the car and went into the ASSIGNED entrance to help my friend get his stuff out of his car and they started yelling at us again and telling us we couldn't help him or go with him. All together, everyone there was VERY RUDE. Yes I had made mistakes in parking and entering. I understand they have a policy and I respect that. These guys are thieves! They prowl around searching for cars which dont have a sticker or thing hanging from the rear view mirror saying it is okay to park there. They do this "by contract" with the property owner. Rather than be bothered, my mom's apartment complex chooses to hire these shady folks to deal with the "problem" that no one ever complained about. In my case, I had been at mom's place long enough to bring her some medication she left at my house earlier in the day. I know, people will say they were only parked a couple of minutes. In my case, I had to go to the airport to pick someone up so I could not chat and gave her the meds at her door before walking around the building only to see a tow truck behind my pickup, I had to call someone else to come get me and then pick up my friend at the airport. Before the driver had one of those arm things next to the tire of my truck hooked up, he has the courage to say he was going to charge $200 CASH ONLY, but would not give me a receipt!!! Are you serious? I called the police who said they know what the driver is doing is not right but they are only there to keep the peace. It is a civil matter. I went to court and got back my money for the cost of towing AND my court filing fees. That was under $200 total.... makes me wonder how many other times the driver is trying to pocket money without the boss knowing. Other friends have had similar experiences and had police call when in an accident or broken down. No one has felt they were treated with respect and with my experience, I am pretty sure they were abused much as I was. They will NEVER get a recommendation from me! read more
