The first red flag should've been the lady in the office who unabashedly smokes her cigarettes at the desk--the place reeks. After my car was totaled by a careless driver, the City of Lincoln PD responded to the accident and recommended this as the tow company because the City contracts with them. Capital Towing treated me like I'd done something illegal when I went to retrieve my belongings, meanwhile engaging in business practices that are questionable at best and unlawful at worst. When I went in, I explained what happened and that I was there to retrieve the stuff from my car. Cigarette lady passed over a document, which she said I needed to sign to get my things, and had me sign it. Astoundingly, Miss Cig then tried to say it was a contract and I had no right to my stuff. She then said the bigger question (as compared to whether I could get things like my school materials and garage door opener) was how we'd pay the $7 a day charge for storing my car there. She was rude, manipulative, and disrespectful. She ultimately refused to let me get my belongings; I never got anything in my car back. In fact, I never saw my car again. It was not unsafe or difficult to enter. To be clear, I did nothing illegal and the other driver's insurance took care of the car. And, most importantly, they ensured Capital Towing got that $7/day fee. Then, I had to give Capital Towing my "permission" to give my car over to insurance and she tried to say I had to find a way across town and do it in person. I was stern, told her that wasn't happening and they had no right to withhold my car, and suddenly an email was fine. This experience was so unbelievable. Wild. If you must deal with these people, be firm and do not let them take advantage of you because they WILL try and seem to enjoy it. For obvious reasons, I do NOT recommend Capital Towing. read more

Capital Towing - Towing Near Me - Lincoln, Nebraska

literally -100 stars /5. unsafe!!!! unethical!!! my daughter car was towed while at a friends house for Bible study. they made her walk into the lot at night 11pm to find her car- she had friends with her- she was told 100% they could not walk with her through the dark lot. absolutely uncalled for - who does this- this place needs to be investigated. she was already upset and tearful and now scared to death. Who compromises someone's safety like that in an absolutely unnecessary way. I could go on with other details that happened- I will be seeking help from authorities. read more

"Absolutely unacceptable. I manage a location for a well-renowned business here in Lincoln, so I don't say this lightly -- I've dealt with a lot of customer interactions, and what I experienced here was some of the most unprofessional, hostile behavior I've ever been on the receiving end of. All I was doing was retrieving MY OWN car key off a keyring. I was actually also listed on the release of property form. That should have made things simple. Instead, your staff yelled, talked down to me, and were condescending and demeaning over something that should have taken two minutes and zero conversation -- and never once explained that keys on a keyring for an impounded vehicle only get released when the vehicle comes out, which would have cleared everything up in seconds. This is not how you treat a paying customer, or any human being for that matter. If your employees/owners can't manage basic composure or simple communication, they clearly have no business owning, running, or being anywhere near a business that deals with the public. Steer clear of this place -- save yourself the disrespect." I leave no stars! read more

Scamers. They illegally tow vehicles then lie about the reason it was towed. File a police report and an Attorney General complaint against this company when they scam you. read more

They towed my crashed car to their lot. People there were very nice. Worked perfectly with my insurance co. to finalize my responsibilities with the car. read more

My car was towed through my fault entirely, and I am not blaming them for the tow itself, but for context, I didn't park in any a-hole spots like a handicap stall or a turning lane lol But they towed my car and when I called them for information so I could figure out how this works, the lady on the phone was incredibly rude and short with me. When I arrived, I needed to get my registration from my car, so I went and grabbed it and since my car was parked so far away from the office, I moved it closer so I wouldn't need to walk all the way down to get it. When I got back into the office, she snapped at me and told me that I was not supposed to do that, to which I stated that I didn't know, and she pointed out a sign in a dusty plastic holder on the wall, with small and extremely faded letters and said "I could charge you double." Mind you, I'm stressed because my car got towed and I'm not wealthy by any means, so I've clearly been crying and I don't look like some snobby lady coming in to yell at people for towing my car, I'm just a young adult whose never done this before. But she basically threatened to charge me double, which was insane. Anyway, I give her proof of registration, she snaps at me again to tell me that's not what she needs for verification, calls to verify with the dmv or whatever, then asks for payment. I asked multiple questions about paying on the phone before I arrived, and she never mentioned it, nor did I see any signs, but she snapped at me again to tell me it was cash only. I asked if there was an ATM nearby and luckily there was one behind me in the same room lol but I was annoyed I wasn't told on one of the two phone calls to bring cash. Ultimately, in a time of stress and overwhelm, customer service makes a lot of difference in how a person perceives a business. I think they would seriously benefit from better customer service and more empathetic staff in the office, and better signage around the office for rules that may seriously impact a person's costs. This is not typically a planned expense and it certainly wasn't very comfortable for myself and my husband financially. I will give credit where credit is due, and say that they were efficient and the problem was resolved as soon as I found out where my car was in the first place. TLDR: Pro: fast service Cons: bad customer service, poor signage, phone number not on Google?? read more

Other businesses might give this place a great review but if you're a normal person, you're giving them one star or less if possible. The place like an ashtray they you like shit they're rude. They're unprofessional. They took my car after hours where it was supposed to even call to confirm it was dropped off when I called to ask what was going on she talked to me like I was stupid For asking where my car was at . 4 letter c word. I can see why you get only one star reviews. STUPID people in office, I went in today to sign paperwork for my insurance company to tow my car. I filled out paperwork for permission for Progressive to tow car. When my insurance company went to get they car they were informed you had it towed to Sid Dillon. Its a Toyota why would it go there. I called the office and rude lady insisted I told her to take to Sid Dillon. I NEVER said that and the paperwork they had me fill out said PROGRESSIVE weil pick up. She even asked me who will be getting your car and I said PROGRESSIVE. I had a friend with me who heard the whole conversation and I NEVER said Sid Dillon. Very rude office staff. If I could give a minus 0 I would. IDIOTS read more

Customer service is garbage. We lease trailers and a customer of ours had it towed. So we went to go pick it up and the entire time inside their office the blonde lady in the back was a big ole biotch. The dispatcher lady is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Having one's vehicle towed is never a pleasant experience. Returning to find one's vehicle missing is concerning, having to get to a tow lot takes time, and the retrieval of one's vehicle can be expensive. The result is unhappy vehicle owner. In many cases, illegal parking can cause inconvenience to the person rightfully entitled to that space. Parking lot owners are subject to unhappy tenants when they cannot park in their authorized and reserved space or lot. The parking lot personnel are generally the face-to-face contact receiving an out-pouring of these frustrations. Take a deep breath. The inconvenience and costs of illegally parking is usually avoidable. Vehicle owners should be sure they have parked according to the rules of the parking lot or space. read more

My car was all on my behalf but the absolute verbal assault that was received from the tow guy himself, was by far the most inappropriate unprofessional thing I have ever encountered. The straight rage and mouth on this guy was beyond unprofessional. I guess that's what you get when you are a tow truck driver on Christmas Eve. To yell and scream at us for just starting my car to make sure that it ran and warm it up. All while I gathered the paperwork to bring into the DMV that he dropped it off at. (Which was planned from yesterday) We arrived shortly after 10am, the tow was there and my car was unhooked. He left, pulled into the parking across the street to whip right around and come back and start to verbally assault us, the moment that he saw my headlights turn on. Yelling and screaming from the inside of his truck that we are doing "shady sh.." and that LPD were on their way. All the while accusing us of being upset and irate to the lady at the desk in the office. If anything she was the nicest person and EXTREMELY helpful on my car situation. We waited politly while she answered the phone, asked questions and rewrote our ticket. Mind you; we showed up to their office at 845am today, paid close to $900 to get it released & towed to the DMV. Then to have him just let his straight rage on to us when we didn't say a SINGLE word to him! Just stunned by the entirety of the whole verbal assault. I called the office and spoke to a lady to have her claim that he has been out of that location for an hour, which he wasn't it was MAYBE 30 minutes. THe ENTIRE time that we were in the DMV. She stated "so why are we hearing about this now?!" Cause I wasn't about to let my anger be taken out on you for the actions that your 1/2 star employee had taken on his own. SO! You're very welcome to that fact! So Merry Christmas to Capitol Towing & the crappy staff that supports the behavior of this 1/2 star employee that verbally assaults people trying to take care of their stuff. read more

If you do any business with this place; you better be willing to sign over your title! This place will take every last penny. I'm on disability and they towed my vehicle from my residence at Fountain Glen. This happened while out of town on bereavement. Came home and they made me sign over my vehicle TODAY June 30, 2023. They did this because I didn't have the money to pay the $30 a day they charged to store it plus the tow charge. They said that I could sign over my Jeep in order to pay the cost of their towing and storage. I was left with no other choice! This vehicle was taken directly outside where I reside! I will NOT sign a new lease with Fountain Glen because of their business practices. Now I can use Uber on the government dime to get to my cancer appointments!!!! Capital Towing - the dent in my car :) and the cracks - Towing Near Me - Lincoln, Nebraska

Absolutely terrible customer service!!! I called for a tow, the guy came out and told me I didn't need one and just needed a battery jump. He pulled my car out of the garage, charged me $50 for the jump and said it didn't need a tow. I had no idea the car had a tire so flat that it couldn't drive the car. I noticed the second that I drove a foot, I called to ask them to come back around and they said they would charge me for the entire price of a tow even though their technician didn't catch the issue and said it didn't need a tow. I asked to speak with a manager which they wouldn't let me. read more

Had the misfortune of having my car towed from a friend's apartment complex for having it parked there more than 48 hours. I went out to Capital Towing and picked it up that same evening (9:00 pm). Only made it to downtown Lincoln before the brake warning light came on. Got out and checked & found that brake fluid was streaming out from around the rear driver side wheel - got it home quick as I could. Called Capital & informed them of the issue. They sent a driver out the next day to look at it and he said he "really can't tell anything, but took pictures anyway and that they should be contacting me about it. A week went by and I called them, they apologized for not calling me back which was an innocent mix-up on their end. But they said the way they hooked up the vehicle had no bearing on the damage to the brake lines. I explained that the brake lines from and back were replaced within the last 2 years and had the receipt to verify - but this fell on deaf ears. One hell of a coincidence! If you ever get towed by Capitol - best to pick your vehicle up in broad daylight and have your mechanic with you before you leave the property!!! read more

Business stating they do accept credit cards. But when you show up, its cash only. They don't pay taxes.

Shady company. My car was towed and they would not let me get it back. They will only accept cash--can't be traced. They claimed they did not have a copy of the ticket, so I would have to get it from the agency which was closed all weekend. Their storage fees multiply daily, so it is in their best interest to keep the car as long as possible. I approximate at least 100 cars in the lot. If each was there for 2 additional days at $12 a day per car in cash....you do the math! Any governmental or educational or law enforcement agency that uses their services should take a closer look at the business and their practices. read more

I was in a no-parking from 5:30am - whenever overnight because I didn't want to drink and drive. I was towed, rightfully so and I won't argue that. BUT these assholes had not recorded that they had towed me, and verbally told me that my car was not in their lot. So, where's my car? I filed a police report after checking all the lots in town, and they also told me that there was no record at all of my vehicle being towed. After a FULL 24 HOURS i was contacted and told that they JUST filed a report that my car was towed. So after the panic of thinking my car was stolen, I was still charged for the 24 hours that I was lied to. Thanks for literally stealing my car. Jfc read more

When he got the car home and started to unhook it, it got stuck on my bumper and broke part of it. I was furious.
