Mark is a very experienced TV hanger. He is very adept at carpentry skills, which were essential in hanging our TV over a fireplace. That's where the story changes. He made it clear up front that he didn't do training, which was find with us, since we have grown children (and grandchildren!) who can teach us how to operate the TV systems once they're installed. We had engaged Mark to install 2 smart TV's in our new home incorporating DirecTV Streaming , which was all new to us. But since Mark marketed himself to be a "TV installer" we agreed to go with him. First problem was soon after he arrived, he asked that we take our dog away from where he was working because he couldn't tolerate having a dog near him, and he had some excuse for why that was so important to him. So we obliged. He did some very clever carpentry work on our mantle, which was a necessary step in hanging the TV. After he hung the TV, he asked me to stand in front of the TV to see if I was satisfied. The TV seemed be be level, only one problem. THE TV WAS OFF! BLACK SCREEN! Never even hooked up! Not even plugged in! I told him it seemed to be straight, and appatently he took that to mean he was done, and I was OK with what he had done. Instead of continuing to install the remaining components of the TV, such as RoKU, dongles, and other things that I don't understand, he packed up his little tools for mounting, and went into the Bed Room to begin hanging the second TV. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and assumed he woud return to the 1st TV to hook up the remaining components to get the TV actually functioning, that is, INSTALLED. Come to find out, that was never his intent! He made it clear that his job was to HANG the TVs, not to INSTALL the TVs. No effort was ever made by him to actually turn on the TV's! That's not what he does! Then, contrary to statments on his website, he then said he had to leave for the day, since his wife expected him home for dinner by a certain time. He then suggested not too sublety, that he was totally willing to accept tips from customers. Then he told me what the price would be for the work he had done that day before he left. Since he was only half way done on the total job, I gave him half of the total price, knowing he would be back the next day. He took that extra cash that I gave him, which was more than the amount he had charged for hat day, and thanked me for giving him an $11. tip!!
That was of course not intended to be a tip, but just 50% of the total bill, which was turning into a two-day job. He came back the next day finished hanging the 2nd TV, and we payed him the remainder of the amount we owed him, minus the tip that he so conveniently assumed was his, and packed up to leave. As he left, he not very subtly asked that we give him a favorable review. I said absolutely not. We hired you to INSTALL TV's, and all you did was HANG TV's. He claimed that in his (20+?) career in TV hanging TV's he had never had such a disatisfacory customer responds, which, in hindsite, I have to call BS on. There was never an attempt on his part to actually plug in and connect and install either of our TVs, just simply to HANG THEM. So, if you need a TV hanger, I think he would be adequate if you were willing to hide your dogs, and be pressured into adding tips to his quoted price. But if you actually want a TV INSTALLED, I would never ever recommend him for that. Clearly false advertising. Very disappointing, Buyer be ware! read more
